Re: NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki

    Hey guys, I need help.

Since the latest PC patch my team is switching on every single pick n roll and it's breaking my defense. Instead of there being a hedger, both players come up to guard the ball handler and it leave the roll man open on every single pick n roll.

I use Sam Pham's setting, and my players won't stop switching and it's really hindering my ability to play the game.

Anyone else experiencing something like that.

Edit: Also, my players have become COMPLETE idiots. I play GAP off-ball on centers and my Center is allowing the other team's center easy breaks to the basket FROM THE PERIMETER and players refuse to close out on shots. They literally stop and just wait... it's infuriating.

What are your settings on the team screen?

I think (for the 2nd year in a row) players are complaining about excessive bumping because CPU teams aren't allowing the drive. Here is an example. Plumlee is not hedging and was prepared to give up the mid range pull up.

***Im not claiming perimeter bumping is not over the top. I think it is, and that riding animation needs to be the default.

Not sure I understand that question. Lots of menus this year, but if you are taking about what I think you're talking about them I typically use "stay home" or "no threes"

Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but if you wanted to manually get Blake to set a pick, you toggle the icon above all the players head by pressing L1 (PS4) or LB (XB1), then hold the icon corresponding to the player you want to set a screen. If Blake has a triangle above his head, hold the triangle button. Basically you can have any player setting a screen; it doesn't always have to be the center. You can have your point guard setting a screen if you want.

Or maybe you're talking about something else.

Yes, he's talking about on ball pick and roll vs on ball pick and roll (centre).

Two different options in the defensive settings tab.

I too am unsure of the difference. But I always thought it meant pick and roll at the top of the key (centre) vs side pick and roll (on the wings etc.)

But that was just what I thought. Not sure.

haha sorry man I meant the complete opposite lol, thanks for taking time tho

i meant on defense... there's hedge and there's hedge (center)

let's say I want to soft hedge out, when Blake is setting a screen for Paul... I want to soft hedge and recover on Blake to stop him from dunking the damn ball... what would the settings look like?

                    Chris Paul:
                    On-Ball-Screen:
                    Hedge:

                    Hedge:

nah buddy this makes no sense because at the very bottom it has the explanation saying "... if the center is involved" in the pick and roll... of "if the defensive center is the hedge man" on the other setting... so it must mean something that if a center sets a screen and the normla one may be if someone like Redick set him a screen or so...

                        Thanks for clarifying.

                          Hedge:

                          Hedge (Center):
So, you're guarding the Clippers, right?
                          Chris Paul:
                          On-Ball-Screen: Over
                          Hedge: Soft Hedge

These are the only relevant settings, assuming that Blake is playing the 4. Catch hedge might be better-suited to accomplish your goal of preventing Blake from getting to the basket, assuming you have a mobile 4.

so in your example, you'd "auto" on the latter two settings saying "... (Center)" ?
