Good video! Right now the settings are hit or miss for me right now. Some seem to work consistently such as Extend Pressure, Pre Rotate, the Off-Ball Pressure setting (Gap, Moderate, Tight, Deny) and some PNR defenses such as Stay Attached. I haven't used it at all this year I don't think, but you seemed to have success on the Dig post setting as well in your video.

Some things I have not been able to get to work consistently yet are ICE defense on PNR, switches on PNR, the Off-Ball screen settings, and the Junk defense and Switch Everything defensive packages.

I'm looking forward to OG's next stream where we will hopefully learn how to get some of these things to work consistently (unless some of you guys figure it out first ).

One question I have from your video...

What am I supposed to be seeing in your Boxes and Elbows example where you say it always keeps a defender in the driving lane? It looked to me like your opponent just ran straight into Dwight which caused him to help, but that would happen regardless if you have Boxes and Elbows selected or not.

I haven't personally seen much of a difference when putting this focus on a player.

2:20 in the video for reference.

Re: NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki

OG- Finally got the patch (Xbox1) and played around a little with the adjustments in the timeout menu since they finally stick.

Soo.. absolutely LOVING the individual player focus option. I set "boxes and elbows" for John Wall and it worked great. The AI defenders setup exactly how they should. (I didnt even know what the "boxes and elbows" concept was until someone took notes from your stream and posted here)

          Anyhow.. a few questions..

          1. How many players can I set an individual focus to in a timeout? (It appears one at at time, which makes sense)
          2. How long does the individual focus stay active? (All game until I change it?; until the next Timeout?; Does it reset if the player that is set to a focus is subbed out?)
          3. If I set individual settings in the gameplan menu, does the individual focus override those setting when that player has the ball?
Example: Setting "boxes and elbows" for John Wall
          - Have individual setting for Beal at tight on ball / Deny off-ball
          - when John Wall has the ball, does that individual setting override the "deny- off ball", and make his defender sag into the elbow?
          - Then when John Wall passes the ball the defensive setting goes back into effect and the defender will once again "deny off-ball"?

Thanks in advance for any clarification!! Really looking forward to divng into all these defensive settings/adjustments once you do a few streams and explain how it all works..

PS- You should put streams like this in an in-game tutorial for all players to watch/learn. Rather than just an OS crowd or youtube folks. This game is incredibly deep and it does a disservice to both the gamers, and your development team if people do not understand how to use it. My .02 cents.

I guess for this year maybe you guys could make a couple quick breakdown videos on 2K TV? Or maybe even direct everyone to your youtube videos (czar/og) through 2K TV.. That may be a good way to reach the masses..

Re: NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki

Just played a game against the Sprockets. I set my D to switching on and off ball and got some really good results. I was able to shut down a heap of those 3s coming off screens.

There were times the switch didnt occur (20% of the time), and it assumed I was trying to double. Possibly due to user error, Im not sure. I may have missed the window, or it may not have been a screen.

But I found it was very consistent when I was controller the player who would switch out. The game was very good at recognising at adjusting once I'd switched.

I've seen a few examples of multiple switches on one play. It was beee-autiful.

And Ill show you the video once I get the ******* xbox video app to work.

There is a difference. Boxes and Elbows has the same shape as gap all off ball. I play gap so that defensive focus wont be shaped differently. But if you are a guy that doesnt play gap off ball then boxes and elbows will look different shape wise.

The individual settings override the defensive focus. So you can go boxes, but still play tight on a shooter. That is what i did with Morrow in this game.

So if you make your defensive setting for players in the pause screen before a game, and then make in game adjustments using the be the coach feature, or during quick menu changes on the fly, what controls?

Or do you mean that you can use team based settings in the be the coach time out menu but then when you add individual settings to customize the team based setting, the result will be a combination of both?

I think my favourite one is the last one. A couple of times, I was late on the switch and got lit up.

                    https://<iframe width="560" height="...reen></iframe>

I was playing really tight and in the 2nd half they started driving hard and my help D because it was obviously guarding the arc. And because I was playing small, I got murdered on the boards. The game is beautiful on HOF.

Does that mean if we put tight to everybody in the pause menu and go boxes and elbows in game it won't work?
They will continue play tight on everybody?

I will try that setting today for a definite answer. However, my guess would be yes. That is why guys need to be cognizant of mixing and matching inconsistent defensive settings.

Also, if I set my defensive settings and then mid game choose a defensive set (like shrink the floor) or a focus (like boxes and elbows) will these work or will I see my defensive settings? As I like to set all of my defensive settings so I know exactly what I'm doing but of course I also want to switch it up every now and again or adjust if I need to.

Anything set to auto will follow the defensive focus. Anything manually set will control. The timing of when you set them wouldn't matter unless that setting is on auto.

Thus, if you have Korver off ball on auto and Bazemore off ball tight, and you choose boxes and elbows then Korver will box off ball whereas Bazemore will stay tight.

Rob- It seems to me like it should work the opposite way. The indivudual focus should override the individual defensive setting while that particular player your focusing on has the ball.

This would mimic real life "in-game adjustments"

You can change your individual on and off ball def settings to auto on the fly also. So you would just need to go auto first. This is the best setup, otherwise you couldnt have some players in focus while simultaneously having others doing specific tasks.
