Rob, thanks for that whole set of testing. This part you're describing, I don't understand it.

Can you fill in the blanks to describe what you mean? Let's say I want the hedge defender to stay with Griffin. (by the way, OG said that the "stay attached" setting is one to use very cautiously, and only really when a guy is killing you on pick and pop).

    CP3:
    • On-Ball Screen:
    • Hedge:
    • On-Ball Screen (Center):
    • Hedge (Center)

    Griffin:
    • On-Ball Screen:
    • Hedge:
    • On-Ball Screen (Center):
    • Hedge (Center)

I feel like a lot of the confusion in these conversion is no one ever just lats out these details. I'm not picking on you, I'm talking about all of us, including OG. I think we need to get real specific on these details in all of these conversations.

Until we can translate what we want to see on the court with specific players/situations with these specific details, we're going to continue to confuse ourselves and everyone else. And then when we try to tell 2k what we are seeing and they answer us, we won't even know if we are talking about the same things.

I have yet to hear OG say anything as simple as, "If you want X result to play out on the floor, set Y specific settings on Z player(s) to make that happen." OG is busy and doesn't have paid time budgeted to do this kind of teaching (see my earlier point on that), but this is the level of instruction people need.

      2. In practice mode the go over or go under option does not work consistently. Your guy will randomly go over or under.

      3. The only hedge setting that worked for me was stay attached. If you set it to stay attached the screen defender will stay attached.

      4. Everything other then stay attached will be a soft or hard hedge, with the big getting back to the defender.

      5. I was unable to get no hedge, double or catch all to work in practiceplay mode.
Rob this is exactly what I found.

Im thinking it's a case of practise mode being bugged. I looked at some of my saved clips and my CPU was going over screens when I set them to, and Ive felt the settings were working fine in game. Although this year, I havent got too complicated yet.

In this practise mode, this wasn't a user problem. I was setting the mode to 'demo' where the CPU runs it and they kept going under with the center soft hedging, no matter what I set.

As Rob said the only thing that worked was setting them to stay attached.

I havent played a game for a couple of days but later today Im going to test this out in game.

Double is not working in game just tested it. I typically test in game by using two controllers and then going to choosing sides and playing with one team or the other. I had all PNR setting for Rose and Noah set to Double and Bogut never stepped up not one time in more than 10 PNR situations.

Haha. I am not that sensitive.

What i am saying is that the individual pick and roll settings Must be set on the ballhandlers individual screen. So if you want to catch all and go over on a CP3 pick and roll where CP3 is the ballhandler, you have to go to CP3's screen and set:

          On ball screen: over
          Hedge: catch all.

If you go to blake's individual defensive setting screen it will have NO effect on any screen except the ones where Blake is the ballhandler. Therefore, the PNR settings of hedge and on ball screen are determined by the BALLHANDLER NOT THE ROLLMAN.

This is 100% correct. This is also how i teach it in my tutorials, so there are players out there who took this the wrong way before ? That's good to know.

Using these settings Rob, were you able to get 'no hedge' to work in practice plays mode?

After watching your stream i tried out all the defensive pick and roll settings and they worked in game as advertised. Tag the roller. Catch. Stay attached. Soft hedge. Appreciate all the additions. It makes the game way more basketball then any previous year. Thanks youngster. The last 3 years of giving up corner threes all game was killing me.

In practice plays its all no haps except stay attached. But, the prerotate works in practice so that is weird. My next few days will be trying to figure out ways to manipulate who prerotates and to try and control where the help ON DRIVES is coming from. That is the last step to having it all sown up.

LOL!!! appreciate that, Rob! I've got a lot of goodies planned with "how to..." etc coming soon. Understanding the tools you have combined with the schemes that you're team is runs is essential. There's still a TON of lab work to get done in these streams.

If I have ACE off and I assign individual def settings to my team will the def packages (stay home, boxes and elbows...) work if I change them on the fly or time outs during the game?

Or they only work if I have individual def settings on auto?

So there is no way to specifically give Curry's defender stay attached instructions if he were to set a pick on Thompson or Durant as the ball handler? The best I could do to cover up would be to switch guards.

Cause I dont want to assign stay attached on Klay's specific screen if I good PNR defending bigs? See the gap in the settings?

Really looking forward to these upcoming streams OG. I, like many others, really appreciate the depth you've added, but I really can't utilize any of it until I understand how it all works.

In addition to the streams, I really hope you guys can clean up a bunch of the ACE issues for CPU controlled teams (double teaming, rotations, pick and roll, etc). This game is so close to greatness but there are a lot of bugs that need cleaned up.

Lastly, just a quick request. I'm not sure if the AI is built to understand this concept, but when I play Durant at the 4 the CPU always guards him with their PF. Is there any way to include logic and make the CPU smart enough to put a better defender on Durant?

                              Thanks, OG!!
