This all looks and sounds great, excellent blog in every way.  I'm really dying to see some 1v1 stuff, particularly how defenders body up on guys driving the lane.  If the sticky force field defense is still in play, unfortunately it would ruin the rest of this magnificent info for me.

What does a Westbrook vs. Pau Gasol isolation play look like this year?  Inquiring minds want to know.

50/50 ball AI has felt like 90-10 ball in favour of the offense for around 3 years straight to the point it's better just to do "hands up" contests rather than actually try to block a shot.

Also, do you guys have any example footage of this year's AI defending the 5-Out offensive set? It was pretty gamebreaking last year as the AI would get confused on the pick and then pretty much ALWAYS leave a shooter open regardless of manual defensive settings.

It's especially exacerbated in game modes like MyTeam where people can run 5 x players all with 90+ 3 point shooting ratings, to the point where most games were spent yelling at the screen as the AI got confused trying to guard 5-Out.

Lastly, in terms of AI: have Pro Am AI defenders been tweaked so as not to HUGELY sag off Sharpshooter human players and let them drain wide open 3 after wide open 3?

        Would love to know, thanks.

The only quibble I have is when he mentions not playing a player outside of their primary/secondary roles.

This is a small concern for me because of the move to 'positionless' basketball, and the fact that there are players who can routinely play and guard 3 or more positions, and play at those 3 or so positions.

Obviously I'm holding out to see how it truly affects things, but I do want to take full advantage of players who are able to play and defend multiple positions. I want it to be a factor in deciding to take one player over another.

He does acknowledge that there is a shift to positionless basketball, but then goes on to stick to the old primary/secondary position... there has be a feature to note and promote players who can guard 1-5.

Any details about rotations for Play Now mode and MyLeague?

Hopefully you can set a rotation in Play Now mode, and that it will translate into the MyLeague mode.

Also there was a problem when the CPU team would run into foul trouble, they wouldn't sub out the player since the set subbing rotation minutues would override the situation.

Am I understanding it correctly, that there are only 8 freelance offenses left in the game?

Does system proficiency affect overall ratings in MyLeague/MyGM/MyTeam?

Even though he's not a 3 point specialist, my impression for that sequence would have been better served if Otto Porter positioned himself as such sort of: Rather than himself moving to that white square location, having him position closer outside the paint still leaves plenty of room as if he's daring Simmons to shoot the corner three.

I like how aware Porter was about the play that is unfolding, but this suggestion would probably be more realistic. Everyone in the NBA is aware of 2.9 in the key and positions their feet accordingly so that they can be as efficient as possible about WHEN they use up that 2.9. They usually hover with one foot in the key and move the foot out every 2.9 to "refresh" the count in case ref's are watching. Then when offensive threat becomes more real, they fully commit to the 2.9. I hope I described that well enough.

This was the only part of the blog that I wasn't on board with but quickly accepted. We see Lebron play SF/PF a lot in real life, but in the Finals he was the Center on the floor at times with Durant being the Center for GS I believe. I guess it makes sense for a couple minutes here and there but ultimately you would never start LeBron at Center or commit to him playing there so a negative hit on system proficiency would make sense in that regard. And not putting him at point guard is okay because he's still going to play like a point guard when he's at SF anyway. Just like in real life, playing him out of position at center is only good for limited minutes to take advantage of certain benches/lineups.

Agreed with the penalties for playing out of position and ultimately, if we needed to, there is always room for an offline badges that reduces the penalties of playing out of position, thus IMHO, in a very minimal way.

For as much as people talk about positionless basketball, just go and see the playing time players happen to play on other positions and those really versatile mainly play 2 positions, more than that is extremely rarely played and its evident on the played time per position.
