Seriously 2k just needs to make matchmaking parks and that would solve so much of this.

If you're a 60 you only play against 60's etc.

Which speaking of, I would love to play as a 55 overall against a bunch of other 55 overalls and run a 5v5 lol. That would be sooooo much fun tbh lol. A group of trash actually having to play well on the sticks (because if you're no good, it will absolutely show if you're a 55 lol).

One could easily defend those practices as well given that "they are optional" and "you can just play the game and earn it".

While that would be true...they haven't limited us options on how to get VC, they've added them.

Because they provide you a way to skip the grind, pay out of pocket. It can be seen as a money-grab, but it can also be seen as a viable alternative.

It just seems as though, they won't have time to play even when they get to the overall they feel they need to be at, and which again, everyone is over-exaggerating the overall it takes to win at this game, and over-exaggerating the time it takes to get to a competetive level.

Plus with so many people skipping the story mode this year (because you no longer have to even play it) you're more likely to see a bunch of 55-65 overalls who do nothing but run around the Neighborhood. So there's your competition, pretty equal playing field.

The alternative is starting your player with NBA level attributes and athleticism. Not one person said they should make it easier to max your player out. The argument is that you start off so poorly rated when compared to your competition.

Most players are near their athletic peak when they enter the NBA, so why does my player start off slower than the most lumbering center and with less strength than the weakest guard?

If a player is really as bad as our player is rated at the start, they wouldn't even make a college team, much less be drafted in the NBA.

Start us at the position average in everything, or let us pick a few areas to specialize in to make them NBA-worthy players. If I create a 3 and D guard, I shouldn't be awful at shooting threes until halfway through the season, and not be able to keep up with the other team's center on a fast break.

I don't play online, so I am speaking strictly about offline against NBA players.

There are way, wayyyyy more busts than actually competent players in the NBA draft lol.

You can be a level 70 and average a triple double if you're speaking strictly offline MyCareer.

If you don't try to play realistically, of course. But that isn't fun. Just because I can technically score 15 points per game doesn't mean I'll enjoy being chased down by slow players on a fast break.

And the entire idea of the mode is that you're the next big thing. Who wants to play a video game where you control a failure?

And even the busts in the NBA still have athletic ability. They have the tools to make it, whereas our players don't even have that at the start.

That is because it really wasn't hard to aquire VC and level up in 2K17 and now they added even more ways to progress but some still complain because they have to play NBA games to get better. Even though technically you could just buy the VC and raise your guy that way but again people don't like that so now they want the whole thing changed to fit what they want, despite clearly being in the minority.

Remember how many people have been toted as the next big thing? How'd that turn out for them? Lol.

You do have athletic ability and the tools to make, you said it yourself you're dropping 15 a game. Pick your spots and execute. I personally like having to rely on my teammates because I'm not NBA ready, rather that then having to drop 50 points a game to win.

These casuals are interested in competitive 5 on 5 Pro-AM, which is basketball, and the most popular mode in the game, and the one they have a $250,000 tournament for. Many of these casuals just aren't interested in playing the CPU, PNO, or some other offline mode.

I've been asking for anybody to list any other game where there's some kind of entrance requirement of a lot of hours or a lot of money spent, just to be able to be functional in their most popular mode.

And if the reply is "Just play with a 55" then people just aren't getting it.

I've also got hundreds of thousands of VC, but that was after I grinded quite a few players out, but that was well later in the year when I wasn't spending it on new players anymore.

I doubt it is a minority that would enjoy a better progression system. Please enjoy your virtual box jumps and dunking on AI, but as someone who only wants to play Pro Am with friends, I don't enjoy it. The game modes should be separate, would only make everyone's lives easier.

I'm lost where this discussion is going. So what's the verdict? What's the action plan?

For if these talks are going nowhere the best both sides can do is respect each other's opinion.

Aside, we're all for a better progression system. And it looks like we're heading in that direction given that MyPlayer/Park/Pro-Am is now separated from MyCareer like the community voiced they wanted as well. As well as clear cut ways of obtaining badges, which is included as well. So things are looking good on that front as far as where we're headed.

We would love for a better progression system. And that's the sound way to go about voicing what we are actually looking for.

I've not read the whole thread so apologies if I'm off here, but people aren't complaining about VC, they're complaining that the cost of updating your MyPlayer is increasing by a wider margin every year.

Amount of VC has shrunk massively playing career HoF since 14. In 15 they had loads of VC sales, and released regular locker codes, both of which have either been reduced or eliminated.

That said, I can actually understand doing this this year because 2k will make less vc from the mode this year as people will more than likely reduce the number of players they create.
