I'm 30 years old. I'm a 2k vet. I'm a beast at this game. I'm telling y'all. The defense is good in NBA 2k18. The defense is great offline and the defense is lovely when I'm playing in the park with my 6'3 sharpshooting playmaker. But the defense online in myteam is broken. Its videos coming out right now as proof. I only came across the problem in online myteam. The sliding is terrible. I thought I was the only one that had this problem until I seen this post and now its videos out on YouTube. People are having the same problem with the defense in play now online. So It's a 2k server issue. No matter how bad a defender defense is you should not be sliding like that. So I'm just gone play offline my league and keep killing y'all in the park because online myteam is unplayable right now because of the sliding on defense.

I've been playing a mixture of My Team and Play Now. Both modes it feels like I'm stuck in thick mud

Like I said, maybe it's the defenders I'm using, gonna a have to experiment more.

Yeah it's only myteam mode where the defense is terrible right now. Not in the park, not offline but I only experience all this sliding and non existing defense playing online in myteam mode. It's has to be a glitch because in the park defense is great and offline defense is great.

Could the sliding be attributed to lag and latency of online play. The connections are peer to peer and the servers are taking a beating on tip off weekend.

I quite like the defense, it makes you have to work. But it's rewarding clamping your man up. In park with my 7'1 centre I was able to clamp up guards. The only only thing I'm not liking is that shot contest seems to do nothing. Against AI fully contested shot defense doesn't seem to effect their shot st all

Actually putting your hands up..without trying to block it helps a ton now maybe this is because of the patch,you play good defense without fouling..sometimes knocking the ball away too.

Now the wide open 3s..different story..still trying to find out how they get wide open every time. .. (I mean I'm using default setting no special defense,my players literally. ..stand about 4 feet away from the corner 3s..only way to even try to stop it ..again without calling a special defense is switching to each player manually...then rotating back..otherwise it's a 3 point fest.

I only played 3-4 games.. 2 on tip off and 2 since the patches.. night and day difference but 3s still open.. going to try to just put more pressure on the wing...in defensive settings..because as of right now..they magically get open... (no screens..no picks,nothing) especially on the left side.

I love on ball defense. It’s amazing

I got to get bad habits out my game. I still rely on creating a contact animation in the paint and offensive players are driving by or finishing over me. In 2K18 u have to contest manually or u will get cooked

This is actually my favourite improvement (of the very few).

Previous games when you drive to the basket, you either penetrate or you hit a brick wall.

In 2k18 when you are well defended on your drive, you either go off course or you can get shadowed into the paint and you take a heavily contest layup. Which is what it is like in real world. In the NBA, nobody can be stopped someone else from driving and taking a layup. However people are prevented from taking the best angles and the cleanest shots which is what it is like in 2k18.

So I am perfectly fine and impressed that this is what it is like in 2k18.

on 2k19 it's happening online where i cant defend the other team..my players seem to back off while the player shoots.i hate that Bs what am i doing wrong??

It programmed that way to balance things out ...
Most of the time your arms are pushed down on contests and sometimes you walk into a forcefield that holds you back when closing out so the shooter gets the time and space ...also double teams are not consistent...sometimes i got 2 defenders crowd the ball.handler and it doesnt affect him a BIT .

The wackest thing in 2k is that they interfere with your defense and stick skills...its disappointing and has been in 2k for a long time ..also vs the cpu you see this stuff happen more frequent
