Just throwing in my two cents.

I think Fortnite has drawn people away, not just from sports games, but from games in general. It’s insane how popular that game is. Not sure if they’ve directly drawn away 2K players, because...Idk, 2K players don’t seem like the type to play battle royale games (everyone’s different, don’t get defensive.)

But honestly? I guarantee you that 2K will see a slight uptick when the playoffs come around. When the NFL playoffs started, I was playing Madden like crazy, and I hate the game.

Hopefully the devs will learn from their mistakes (see: micro transactions...maybe EA needs a lesson, too) and will improve in 2K19. Like it or not, the 2K series has made gradual improvements with each year.

I wish I could say the same for Madden, but y’know...

Haven't learned a thing in the process either because this thread started off of some toxic madness from mad people who thought they were gaming gawds and didn't get picked by any NBA teams.

Far from the truth lol. This had nothing to do with the 2kLeague whatsoever if that's what you're implying. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I just don't understand how an offline player can tell an online multiplayer that the game isn't dead or just not as good as previous installments from an online perspective. Makes no sense IMO.

Never did that. In fact, there's quite a few people who are the ones telling online guys to pipe down.

The online community is still booming on 2K despite the issues that seem to present themselves.

Go to reddit, go to other 2K message boards and all you see is talk of MP, Park, Myteam, etc.

No one is telling online players to be quiet or stop discussing issues, what people are saying is stop acting like no one is playing the game, or the online modes of the game are a desolate, barren wasteland because a couple hundred people have stopped playing.

Well, I've never acted that way. And I don't think other online players here act that way either. If someone makes a thread like "limitless is overpowered" and forgets to leave out "in Pro AM" it's not because they are purposely saying only their online experience matters. They're just trying to bring up a pretty real topic that yeah, maybe HOF limitless shouldn't be as effective as it is. Believe it or not, a lot of the online community here is great. I've gotten to discuss archetypes and received helpful tips, and played with some of them. High IQ, Funny, great character people.

And if no one is telling players to be quiet or stop discussing, what do you think it sounds like when these threads (ESPECIALLY the VC ones before the year) get invaded by people who say stuff like "you whine too much" and "stop complaining and don't buy/play" and "this gets old"? Their purpose sure isn't to be of any help to the community. They just care about themselves and are apparently bothered enough that you've decided to talk about it, enough so to go into a thread to talk about it instead of clicking and moving on. I never said myself the game is dead yet I am being @ like I insulted someone's first born.

Never have I or anyone else gone into a thread relating to offline wishes (for example, lack of create a player options) and said gee guys, stop bitching, you're taking resources and space from what I care about. There can be discussions to be had in those times and I don't mind it at all.

This thread isn't about listing your issues with online, the frequency in which you and your friends meet up and play or when you quit playing. Yes, there are legitimate issues to discuss regarding online play....and also threads to discuss them in....this isn't about online vs. offline.

The thread is about whether these YouTubers have a valid point in proclaiming the game "dead"....(by the way, the YouTubers in the OP have gone on to post more 2k videos, so they know this 'dead' game is still a view getter.)

Just using the McDonalds point.... I don't like it, haven't eaten it in about 6-7 years, not a fan....but it'd be silly to call the company dead because of all the doom articles and shock decomposition videos on Facebook. There's perception and reality. I'm about the latter.

Simply put, 2K isn't dead at all. Now, if you want to say 2K is dead in your eyes that's a completely different story. But bickering about the actual title of the thread is trivial. Below is not my opinion, but facts after researching NBA 2K18 sales vs. 2K17.

Take Two today revealed financial details from Q3 2018 and that included record numbers for NBA 2K18. The company saw growth in both total net revenue and digitally-delivered net revenue over the same quarter in the previous fiscal year. NBA 2K18 was a big driver in both areas (digital up 30%) along with the Grand Theft Auto titles.
Last year for NBA 2K17 it was a figure of 8.5 million touted by Take Two for that release quarter which turned out to be a “shipped” number instead of a “sold” number. Take Two announced NBA 2K18 as nearing 8 million sales, which they claim is up 25% from 2K17, so presumably it’s an actual “sold” number rather than “shipped” this time around.

Some of the old heads get frustrated because there are no facts being spewed, just emotional rants. There are several issues in the game, just like there will be next year, but it's far from dead. It's actually thriving compared to 2K17.

Seems like different variations of dead in here. 2k18 sold like crazy . VC sales were crazy . So the game is alive and well.

Then you have the lack of my team and park support and updates compared to past years . For instance 2k did things like locker codes constantly , Park rival days , Park after dark (which featured celebrities ) , different team mascots , and even new park courts for rival winners. This year has been lackluster so it seems “dead.”

2k also added in new haircuts to the myplayer modes . I’m not even talking about gameplay updates just add-Ons.

So the game isn’t dead like the YouTubers are saying . But compared to the updates of past years in the my modes ( not talking about gameplay we all know they promised not to touch it too much ) it has been lackluster which make the game feel dry or dead . Nothing new -ish . Or as exciting.

Just my .2 . Hopefully I broke it down a little better .

Its funny, being a part of both worlds...offline players say all attention is going into online and online players feel they haven't got enough....its like a constant tug of war....
