I will say that this is by far the worst year for Park in my opinion. Honestly not sure if I will be buying it next year.

No players do not miss a LOT of open LAYUPS. dont say shots. we're not talking about SHOTS. thats different. we're talking about LAY..UPS. we're not talking about high pressure situations where a guy is on your hip or right on your shoulder. you are ahead of the guy and bam blown layup for no reason at all but to take your fg% down a notch. i dont know why 2k players like yourself tries to fit this reality every year when they've done this every...single..year for that very reason.

Missed layups?? I don't have the exact statistics and nope I don't have the time or the "want to" to look up the stats and post them here but I watch plenty of NBA games and players miss alot of OPEN SHOTS AND LAYUPS IN REAL LIFE so....that's all I have to say on the topic. #KoosaSigningOut

I explained how "open" is viewed by 2k on my last post, if a defender is in close proximity, the code says, "he's not really open, it's a defender standing next to him". I don't agree or disagree but...that's how the devs explained it.

Re: YouTube community it’s claiming nba 2k18 is dead
This is the natural reaction to a game that -- since its September release date -- has had no significant gameplay updates, and has not received any new content apart from the draft combine, some copy/paste MyTeam cards/challenges, and a few pieces of seasonal MyPlayer equipment.
Under one percent of 2K18's userbase played the draft combine, so for the majority of players, the 2K18 they bought in September is still the same game that exists today. Park is the most-played game mode in 2K18, and even it has barely been touched since release day. Double XP events have been rare, and when they have happened, they've been on national holidays where most people would rather be doing something other than staying glued to their TV screen.
The 10 patches that 2K's put out this year have mostly been for bug fixes, not for gameplay tuning. The snatchback and blowby animations that people were complaining about in September are still in the game. The right stick dribble moves clipping through defenders' bodies are still in the game. Countless other gameplay bugs (calling timeout without having possession of the ball, passes and shots getting blocked by the rim/backboard, double-tap moves like the alley oop, flashy pass, and spin jumper not registering consistently, etc.) that the community was calling out early in the year as major sources of frustration are still in the game.
At least in 2K16, the biggest block of cheese (breakstarter passes) was eventually patched out of the game. But this time, we're halfway through March, and to date, 2K has just sat back and watched all of 2K18's 5v5 game modes devolve into an isolation dribble contest, because so many of the one-on-one mechanics in 2K18 are tilted in favor of the offensive player.
When you look at how frequently other popular games that have millions of paying customers will rebalance their gameplay and release new content, it's easy to see why so many people have moved on from 2K18: it's a stale, stagnant product in a market that -- over the past couple of years -- has trained its customers to expect rapid, community-driven evolution.Last edited by jyoung; 03-14-2018, 07:59 PM.Comment

Re: YouTube community it’s claiming nba 2k18 is dead
So the game is dead because you heard 3 youtubers whose personal opinions were that the game is dead so you came to a conclusion the entire game is dead because of what they said. Okay great analogy buddy. Thats not really a good way to think about things.Comment

For what it's worth, this is my favorite 2k to date and I've been playing 2k for a really long time

Re: YouTube community it’s claiming nba 2k18 is dead
I'm a football guy. I still most fondly remember 2K15. I thought competition between parks was the most innovative feature I had seen in a sport game, ever. I think the neighborhood is really cool but others have a really sound point when they illustrate the stagnant nature of MyPlayer this year.
The Cutscenes are unbearable because you cannot skip them, leveling up your player has gotten significantly harder for the last 2 years, everything is more expensive, They removed the tools to create MyPlayer facial features and skin tones in favor of basic templates, the skill gap has shrunken tremendously over the last two years in addition to the competitive nature of park being essentially wiped. We can't even talk to the other team during park games, the game's servers still suck, for the first year ever I can't control which hand my player is dribbling the ball with and it directly facilitates turnovers for the opposition at no fault of my own (I don't want to left/right cheese with the left stick. I want to chain dribble combinations together like I did in every other 2K)
In the last three years I have probably played <10 games of PNO, MyLeague, MyTeam, etc. I'm happy for the legit basketball heads that play those modes and find the game immensely enjoyable. I think MyCareer used to offered a medium for competitors to express themselves in so many different ways and that has been lost on this year's product.Comment

Re: YouTube community it’s claiming nba 2k18 is dead
I understand what you're talking about but I play OFFLINE ONLY and I have never just flat out missed a WIDE OPEN LAYUP, that's all im saying. And you have to remember that the way 2k is programmed, if a player is "near" you the layup is not viewed as "open" based off how the game is coded, not saying that I agree with the logic behind that but it is what it is. It has been said several times by different devs that defender proximity plays a role on shot efficiency.
~Koosa1027~
simple concept.
Do defenders just standing there, no hands up. not jumping, not reaching actually scare nba level players into blown layups or weird animations in real life? NO. so why does it do that in 2k? makes no logical since if realism is your goal. thats why i assume that is not their goal.Comment

It’s more than just 3 youtubers I’m saying the YouTube community believes it’s dead and has moved on.
The lack of comprehension on your part is troubling even worse you jumped to conclusions.

Re: YouTube community it’s claiming nba 2k18 is dead
If players are switching to Fortnite, Idc. That just shows me youre not a true basketball fan. And 2K could use less casuals, more real ballers. As far as the gameplay, can we please scrap the HOF limitless range badge once and for all. Mofos takings 45 footers in TEAM PRO AM like it's nothing.
Oh and for the 1 millionth time 2K, fix the int foul / dbl team button silent glitch.
And I agree about the grind this year. It takes SOOO long to rank up, it gets stale, and it makes you not even want to create another guy 'cause you know after like 87 , the rank up slows down.Comment

There’s a few more videos a saw but I’ll use these 3. I follow agent zero on YouTube so at times I get recommended videos by these others guys and there’s a constant them with theme..2k18 is dead.
I go through the comments and it’s people saying they stopped playing because they miss open shots where they filled the bar..missed layups or lost the ball in traffic...they never mention the traffic part lmao.
Now on one hand they’re all crying imo but my 15 yer old cousin doesn’t even play the game anymore he switched over to fortenite full time in December. He’s of the same opinion as these youtubers that this is the worst 2k he’s played.
What are y’all thougts?
What does this mean for us? Will 2k cave in to their demands of hitting contested layups and every open shot hs to fall?Comment
