right on. the smothering is too much.

as a matter of fact, i have a theory on why the jab step isn't as effective as it probably should be. it's only provokes reaction by the ai when they're playing you either moderately or gapping you. same goes for creating space for a jumpshot with a live dribble (like you posted in the "Attacking AI Defenders Downhill" thread, rob). the way i remember it, whenever i'd be smothered or played tight by the cpu, jab steps do absolutely nothing, and sometimes you can't even get the animation to play out because you're stuck in the smothered (protect ball) one.

This garbage absolutely makes me sick to my stomach man. And it's unstoppable because shooting is so overpowered that they can't send help or else you give up 3 instead of 2.
That’s one of the most cheesiest ish I ever seen.

Wow that’s trash man 84 points and it was trash. These the dudes they let getting in these things haha. That’s why I could only play sim dudes that’s was crazy to watch.

Never tried this. I will test it out. I would guess that you can jab a defender who smothers and drive by him on the recover. But i may be wrong.

Ha. Theoretically you dont want guys falling for jabs and hesi's on smother since that setting is to force drives and not giveup the jumper.

Yeah, the one thing I dont want is an auto push back on jab steps....similar to the snatch back dribble situation we have now. I believe there was an older 2k where it guaranteed you space and it was a bit whacked...cant remember which one off the top of my head...

I like the subtle step back from robs vids...just probably needs to happen more often in appropriate situations with ratings etc being a factor...

That was in 18 too. JB wouldn’t work for me on smother and I’d get an offensive foul. Could be my roster or sliders though...

I’ve said this before on twitter, but I think there should be an E-sports league that co exists with this league that’s 1 player per real city’s Team like an online league. It would be fun to watch and a better representation of 2k & real basketball imo. You could see plays, execution, strategy, adjustments, etc. I’d tune into that. And for those who say it’s not fair whoever gets the warriors or the Hawks, etc. Alabamarob rolls with the Hawks every year and dominates so yes it’s an advantage, but it’s more stick skill and strategy from the player and not necessarily the team, but maybe you have an even teams or something? Idk, all I know is I’d like to see it! I think there is a market for it. I watched this league once and havnt been back. I want to watch real basketball. Although if money is up for grabs cheese will always come out at some point... #Simnation

Me and coach2k been trying to do 1 city and 1 team thing for damn near a decade. We couldnt do it. But i am sure 2k could. It would be sweet also. Way more realsitic and true to the games name.

Lol, I completely forgot about that man; that was a good productive debate! I miss those..

Also, I've discovered if you chain the jab step with a normal one and then a hard jab step in unison (Utilizing turbo with the second jab step), the results increase as well.

I need to get on my PS4 this evening and lab a little to show the rhythm I'm referring to with running a set and chaining while in the triple threat. It can be niccceeee.

My only hope is 2K improved on this for 2K19, and when we get our hands on it we can really pull off some ish this year.

For me it feels way to hard to hit a cutter because its too deceiving to tell when he will actually be able to catch it. Or posting up, you guys changed the post mechanics last year, harder to hit shots greatly, and because defenders can just slide around and basically double team you, but they dont really have to commit to the double team, that could also be the size and court ratio problem thats been in the past couple games.
I feel you on that. The reason these are not easily solved is that it crosses multiple domains. And each owner of each system needs certain aspects all working in the same manner and understanding the same situation with the same resolutions or scale of resolutions.

This is one of those things where I have tried many times to explain that as an end user you are seeing actual basketball problems but we don't yet have all the tech in every system to a point where we can easily provide a basketball solution.

We have to build the tools that give us the ability to begin to offer what appears to be a basketball solution.

Think of the freelances when I first put them in. It took the rest of the systems a few years before you could actually see my full vision whereas if I just tried to implement them today with all the tech we currently have the first year implementation would have operated so much better than when I initially put them in because the other systems it interacts with are more advanced.

This is why in video-games something can look right but not function correctly. Also, each developer in any sports game can have vastly different levels of understanding the fundamentals of said sport which can obviously manifest itself in design choices.
