The fact that Tony Parker (76) and Isaiah Thomas (81) are still highly rated are proof of the clear flaws in their current rating system.

Defense isn't weighted enough to account for piss poor defenders (ala Parker & Thomas) amongst other things.

Thomas was never 100% in 2018 and was All-NBA in 2017.
Parker is a future Hall of Famer who started 98.8% of his career games (1,130 of 1,143) prior to this season.

I think these guys are pretty clear exceptions with regard to their 2018 performance/rating.

PG is also the least important defensive position. Offense is significantly more important (Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, etc, aren't exactly defensive difference makers). It extends down to backups like J.J. Barea.

The issue with Thomas/Parker is their offense was well below standard and didn't cancel out their subpar defense

2018: -0.59 ORPM (49th of 100 PGs), -3.84 DRPM (99th of 100 PGs)
2017: 5.72 ORPM, -3.89 DRPM
2016: 3.13 ORPM, -1.89 DRPM
2015: 4.14 ORPM, -2.69 DRPM
2014: 3.85 ORPM, -1.62 DRPM

Parker
2018: -2.16 ORPM (89th of 100 PGs), -1.64 DRPM (78th of 100 PGs)
2017: -0.69 ORPM, -0.97 DRPM
2016: 0.37 ORPM, -0.77 DRPM
2015: 0.18 ORPM, -3.33 DRPM
2014: 3.11 ORPM, -0.40 DRPM

Thomas largely cancels out his defense by being a top 5-10 Offensive PG.
Old Parker had been hanging by a thread prior to his injury, and his offense fell off a cliff this past season (which 2K's ratings probably don't account for - a quick glance shows a 97 Shot IQ).

Yeah, his assists were way down, but his overall offensive numbers actually improved last season.

And he's one of the smartest and best defensive PG's in the NBA.

I'm shocked Mitchell is a 87 after only one season.

Ratings are really bad this year; looks like they didn't touch them at all over the summer.
