Re: Pro Am Builds For 2k19

Jumpshot 24 is a game changer for non shooting builds.

We were top 8 in Protect The House with about an hour to go until we ran up against a "Streamer" who was running 2 7' Pure Rim Protectors and a 7' Shot Creating Post Scorer. We couldn't help on the Post Scorer because the Pure Rims were greening everything from the corner. Craziest lineup I seen in a while. Ended up losing by 2 and it was the only game we lost in the 4 hour span of the event SMH.

I tested the jumpshot out in JRC with my Lockdown and I was hitting pretty consistently. Not as many greens because I don't have corner specialist maxed out yet but the jumpshot is definitely legit.

Any pro am players out there still? PS4 here, I got a 95 ovr 6'7 play shot SG that can play the 1-3. My win rate's around 82% always looking for good people to play with. I don't care if you're great on the sticks necessarily, but as long as you can play defense and pass when you're not open you're straight in my eyes.

I've been leaning towards using my rebirth on a pure point forward/playmaker but am I better off using it on a harder-to-grind player?

I'd love to have dimer and all the passing stuff on HOF right away, but I'm guessing it's also not *that* hard to level up quickly. Unless I wrong

HOF Dimer took a while for me only because I dont play on him much. We usually need off ball players. I had gold within a few days tho. But compared to last year, doesnt seem to work as well. Gold does about the same this year.

For Pure Point Forwards Break Starter and Flashy Passer are an absolute pain to get, OMFB isn't much better.

Yeah, my first player is a slashing shot creator and I could tell from using that, that OMFB is a pain. Flashy can be annoying.

Looks like I gotta be 6'8 or lower to get 86 ball control, but I've seen everyone say the best build is 6'10 max wingspan for better D and Rebounding --- is that trade off worth it?

Still might make a pure playmaker but I do wanna be in a position where I can crash the boards and go

6'10 Max Wingspan is worth it, feels like you've got Rebounding+Defending as your secondary.
EDIT: 6'9 gets 86 Ball Control if you lower wingspan, not sure how much.

At 6 foot 10 Pure Playmaker you need about 2 good plays, and then you'll be able to speedboost anyway.

I would strongly discourage anyone from making a pure playmaker/point forward if Pro Am is the primary mode that you're going to use him in. Those two archetypes are really only effective in Park this year, since you aren't going to meet many lockdown defenders in Park. But in Pro Am, you won't be able to use any of your right joystick dribble moves in the majority of your games due to the presence of one or more lockdown defenders on most teams.

Just build a playmaking shot creator or sharpshooting playmaker instead so you can shoot the ball consistently and not have to worry about defenders sagging off you all the time.

It makes no sense to have a MyPlayer that specializes in dribbling when 90% of good Pro Am teams will have a lockdown defender guarding you.

I don't play pro am much anymore this year, the team I had quit playing (We ran with a 3 lock lineup so I know what you're cautioning me about). This is a build I'd just use for fun with 1-2 other friends and randoms, so I'm not really worried about making something competitive to fit the meta

It's also my rebirth so I'm going to go for builds that have as many HOF badges unlocked right away. I do have enough vc to make an extra play shot if I wanted to though, but I don't think I have it in me to grind another one

Don't want to make a pure athletic or sharp or glass, is there a combination of another dual archetype that might have 5 HOF badges unlocked immediately? I did consider the pure post scorer and post shot at SG for fun

                            What he does do tho...

I can guard 1-4 pretty well, not really very strong on the glass but comes down with some pretty tough boards at times. I can throw shots on shorter guards and wings often enough. He gets a few steals a game, but not like I'm constantly spamming either. If i do get the board I can zing it down court with the best of them.

All in all, he's pretty fun.
I have a 2 way playmaking PG right now. My only knock on him is I know the build is meant to distribute and D up, but the scoring capabilities are pretty bad. I'm only a 91 now so I have more attributes to unlock, but making a wide open middy feels like Ben Simmons trying to take a 3.

Are you seeing the same issues with a 2 way Point Forward. I was thinking about that as my next build. Probably going to lose some ball control but I thought the height would make my inside scoring better.
