Re: Pro Am Builds For 2k19

Third player and I think I finally found the right arch for my play-style.

I play point guard and I'm responsible for setting up my teammates 80% of the time. I like us to play a fast pace style that is predicated on the point guard getting good/smart looks for his teammates. Lots of PnR, cutting, looking for cutters, swing the ball around etc. Half of our team doesn't play the game that often, so I find that we are most successful when I'm taking control of the offense and putting my teammates in position to score instead of relying on them to create for themselves.

My pure SC was just not getting it done. Passing was too slow and inaccurate.Too slow to create the needed separation and worse of all the ball handling wasn't good enough to combat the X/square spam cheese.

I switched to playmaking shot creator and man the difference feels incredible.

I'm finally fast enough to create space for myself and my teammates again. I draw a lot more defensive attention this way.

If you actually use the elite dribbling moves to get open instead of just to show off you can create soooo much for your team.

Only problem is my two bigs decided to make post players (a shooting big would help to space the floor) and our only "shooter" is going to cap out at like an 84 3pt. But still.

I'm not too worried about the 0 HOF badges. Gold dimer, pick and roll & one man fast break will compliment my game very well.

Yeah I like the pure shot creators a lot this year . Think they get catch n shoot gold .
Yes I'm at catch and shoot gold so I can confirm that.

And for sure the lockdown badges are a little easier..I think it's one of them arches where you just play natural and get badges which I like. It's a grind but you know if you just play defense you get defensive badges lol don't gotta go outta my way doing nothing crazy

So after having this guy about a week i finally got the chance to run point in the Rec. I ran 3 games last night and we won our first two.

The first 2 games i was doing well. Think i was like 11pts/12asts/4 tos the first game. Second game was even better, like 12/13/2. My last game we played a team with no shooting first archetypes. The two "shooters" were a sharp shooting Athletic and a sharp shooting defender.

We had a pure sharp and a stretch 4 that had combined for like almost 150 points the first two games. Both were in the 30s the games before.

They ran a zone that's like double the ball handler and play all passing lanes.

Honestly, with defense like that they should have gotten blown out. I couldn't advance the ball past half court without getting doubled and every cut to the basket was tipped and any passes to the corner were picked off. Anytime we got a stop it was spam our glass cleaner so we couldn't leak out.

If i hung back so he could make a "safe" pass to the PG and let me bring it up i couldn't even hit the man streaking because if catch up speed with square.

If a man has you beat by a few yards, how the hell can you gain a speed boost and come Odell Beckham the ball FROM BEHIND?!

I'm literally playing career until they fix this crap. Online is poopoo.

Oh yeah, lost in OT after building a 15 point lead at half. Ended with 9 tos and 7 of them in the second half and OT. Making the same passes i was in the first half, they just got lucky in the second half.

Gambling needs to be just that, a gamble. And a low percentage gamble at that.

Just started on a 6'6 pg shot playmaker. Still get hof dimer and pnr maestro, thats honestly all I need for playmakers plus the added bonus of shot creators badges on silver

I can't be only person in the NBA 2K community rolling with a 6'0" Defensive/PM Point Guard? Granted, I like building players that's not common, but I'm starting to get scared with this one, lol.

Any guard shorter than 6'3" is an automatic L in a game where height and wingspan determine the openness of your own shots and your opponents' shots.

Sounds like you were trying to create me with that build. Hate to tell you this man, but I’m not very good

With the new changes to the Lockdown archetype, where all players +/- 3" are affected by the defensive badges, does it make sense to go down to 7'0"?.

I like the badges on this archetype but I am a little worried about getting outclassed by the 7'3" lumbering giants that people seem to love to make.

How are you smaller centers performing against the giants?

Really trying to avoid making another max/max/max glass cleaner this year.

                              I got one, 6'9 225

I like him a lot. Moves like a guard and can do all the little stuff really well

There'll be times where a behemoth kind of gets it over you, but I can't say I've really had problems. I usually get got when I'm playing too greedy

A non shooting 6'0 build sounds like a disaster waiting to happen . A liability on both ends.

If you want to make a defensive playmaker pg I say atleast make him 6'5 so he can defend wings and help out on the boards like a Jason Kidd.
