Non-shooting build in this game? That's not even possible. Help out on the boards...that's what I got big men for. Defend wings...nah, I'm pretty sure there's enough SG/SF/PF players around that I can avoid that matchup.

EDIT: I wrote it down wrong, lol. It's a SC, and not a PM. Still going to be a challenge, but it should be fun. Yeah, the PM sucked, because if someone kicks out to me, then I would be a non-shooting threat.

With the new changes to the Lockdown archetype, where all players +/- 3" are affected by the defensive badges, does it make sense to go down to 7'0"?.

I like the badges on this archetype but I am a little worried about getting outclassed by the 7'3" lumbering giants that people seem to love to make.

How are you smaller centers performing against the giants?

Really trying to avoid making another max/max/max glass cleaner this year.

Made mine a 6'11 C. Got no problems rebounding against the giants. He jumps freaking high...Beware though that even at 7'0 you may be slotted in at PF a lot because the matchmaking looks strictly at players size. And you are up a lot against stretch 4's which makes your build kind of pointless sometimes. Thats the only point why im regretting this build "a little", but the build itself is strong.

Are people still waiting forever to get into games with a guard in rec?

I started with my sc/post scorer PF and got into games instantly, but of course I never got the ball.

So I created my pm/sc pg but found myself staring at the team screen with 2 other guards for 10 minutes+ at a time.

Then I took 5 days off.

So I created a sc/sharp stretch 4 and went back to getting into games easy.

I know PG is hard in rec this year and wanted to give it a serious try but I have no desire to wait 10-15 minutes or more for a game.

These guards don't want no smoke lol..they ain't even trying to use protect ball or even the pass button and wonder why they're getting clamped.

Let me just say, I may have found *my* best build yet...at least in 19.

6'10 pure lock SF..I'm almost putting up 5x5 games every time. Offensively I pick my spots...backdoor cuts/lobs and 15 foot middies.

Defensively it's a wrap. I can switch on anything. A rolling big will get stripped and a shooting wing or PG is getting contested heavy.

All the tips and steals cause disruption, and I notice the offense is afraid of my whole side I patrol. I'm fast enough to help on a double down low and then run back out to my man to where hes forced to pass or pick up the ball.

Not only that, but it's fun. I'm visibly frustrated my matchups...and I'm not even a steal spammer. I just play d and force them to make their own mistakes.

It's helping my teammates, and yes this is randoms right now, get easy opportunities in transition. And off ball in focused on screens and moving the ball..pretty much forcing me into being a more complete teammate.

            Loving it..

I’m thinking of going the Pure Lockdown SF build myself as my 2nd build. That or the Pure Stretch 4 seeing as how the game is going. The Lockdown seems pretty fun. I mean it’s pretty much open dunks or corner 3s on offence but I like the idea of being a nightmare on defense.

How are defending builds at PG?

Is having a two way playmaker or playmaking defender a complete waste of time?

Playing great d and facilitating the play is what I love to do but I feel like you need gold defensive stopper at a minimum to be super effective as a lockdown and you lose too much playmaking to be great with a playmaking defender.

I ended up making one too. 232lbs max wingspan. I made a PF pure lock thinking that was the one, but THIS IS THE ONE. It didn't feel right to give up having HOF rim protector. & you also get silver relentless & break starter compared to a pure lock center that only gets bronze relentless.

The grind of getting chasedown artist HOF is real, though. You rarely get them in games. That's the only drill I have been doing. What's frustrating is there have been plenty of times where I got a block from behind & they show the chasedown badge pop up, but they don't count it when the game ends. I guess you literally have to be in a fast break for it to count. I think any block that you get from behind while running should count, whether you are on a fast break or not. I wouldn't wish that grind on my worst enemy lol.

I made this guy on monday & I'm about 27k from HOF rim protector, & 40k from HOF defensive stopper & chasedown. I have a lot of time on my hands lol.

Yeah I went hard for defensive stopper first but realized the same thing about chasedown and started grinding that exclusively. I got gold brick wall (40k left to HOF) and gold rim protector and gold bruiser, and I figured those will come in the flow of games so I should be getting HOF for those by the time I'm done with chasedown.

By the way that chasedown drill can be bull****. Playing perfect defense but some Moe Wagner scrub apparently got HOF relentless finisher wtf

I made a 6'11" Pure Rim Protecting Center and I'm in absolute awe of his abilities. I maxed out my weight, I believe it's capped at 285? But he's incredibly light on his feet & can really dig in and shut down post scorers in the post game. I'm still working him up, currently a 79. I'd say my weaknesses come against longer, taller and smart pure glass cleaners. They're just hard to beat to the ball with their length. But I take on the challenge knowing I'm at a disadvantage and find myself enjoying those battles.

I did defensive stopper then rim protector. Everything else became easier after those on gold first.

Yeah those definitely come in the flow of games. I'm about 70k away from brick wall HOF & 57k from bruiser. Yeah that chasedown drill frustrates me sometimes. There are times I only get 1 or 2 stars on the drill cuz freakin JaVale McGee & Wagner are dunk gods. & if they're not dunking, they are laying it up right in my face through contact. I've noticed that in general, if you jump to contest too early or too late, they will usually make the basket. It's like your timing has to be near perfect to stop ppl in this game.

I know pure stretch PF's are the wave, but one of my favorite players ever is Ben Wallace and I want to make a player just like him. What do you all think would be the best archetype to do that? I want to be a 6'9" PF. Would it be a mix of defending and rebounding or would it just be pure rebound or pure defend?

Also, what's the best center build for rebound and defending? Is it pure defense making your guy as tall as possible and longest wingspan?

Once you get HOF Rim Protector it's insane. I did the grind in 2k18, not sure I can do it again this year though. Gold is still very good and the amount of close shots you alter and force misses on is more valuable than the blocks you get.

The Chasedown HOF grind is worse because you'll rarely get them outside of Park and the drill is boring AF.
