Re: NBA 2K19 - Trade Discussion Thread

Guys could you please help me with a good trade that includes Mike Conley? I came up with two different scenarios, both happening at the end of the season or at the trade deadline.

      1. Conley to the Suns

Grizzlies get: Tyler Johnson, TJ Warren, Josh Jackson and Milwaukee 1st round pick.
Suns get: Mike Conley and Avery Bradley.

Assuming the Suns draft Zion and Johnson accepts his player option, they finally get their pg, who fits perfectly next to Booker and gives them a young core of Booker, Ayton and Williamson plus one of the best two ways playmakers in the league. Bradley could help the team by providing defense which is the biggest issue for the Suns, plus he is a decent veteran when he isn't asked too much on offense. His contracts expires after one year.
Memphis gets a solid starter in Warren, a late 1st rounder and a young defensive player to work with in Jackson. Johnson contracts expires after one year and helps matching salaries. Getting rid of Bradley 12 millions would also benefit the team and open up a slot for a younger guard that can create some offense.

      2. Conley to the Pistons

      Pistons get: Mike Conley.
Grizzlies get: Reggie Jackson, Jon Leuer, Luke Kennard, Bruce Brown and Detroit's 1st round pick.

The Pistons try to build a powerhouse in the east by adding Conley to their team. Given that they took Griffin's long term contract it makes sense for them to try to stick with him and Drummond. Also Casey is too good of a coach to tank.
Memphis gets Kennard who hasn't amazed in Detroit but that still has some potential. Brown has proven to be a solid defender and Memphis could use him. Leuer and Jackson are two expiring contracts and help matching Conley's 30 millions. Also Jackson is a terrible starting pg but he could be decent enough just for one season in a smaller role as a experienced player that could help Jackson Jr develop his game, instead of having the young big man playing with inexperienced guards all season.
CJ Miles and Robinson III could be added to the trade and the salaries would still match.

Any feedback and suggestions on the trades are very welcomed. Also if you want to suggest variations or propose trades with other teams involving Conley and Bradley or Miles feel free to do so.
      Thank you!

I like a Conley to the Pacers trade but its tough to make the money work unless they bring back Thad Young and Bogdanovic and include one of them.

If they do, they can use Sabonis or a first round pick as the primary return for Memphis. They've also got expendable young 'prospects' like TJ Leaf and Aaron Holiday if needed.

I like the Detroit trade more, but I wouldn't think the Pistons would offer Brown AND the 1st round pick. Brown is still young and from how often they played him they believe he can contribute.

I could see Chicago trying to grab him if they miss on Morant in the draft. Dunn and Porter would match salary wise but would they be willing to part with Porter, I don't know. They could sign-and-trade Robin Lopez and have him mentor JJJ.

Yeah maybe taking out of the trade Brown or Kennard would be a bit more realistic.
I was thinking about a trade with the Bulls as well but I don't think they'll trade Porter. He's been pretty damn good so far.

Their cap situation doesn't allow them to trade for Conley unless they include Dipo or Turner, who they surely won't trade. I would love the fit too btw.

Another option could be to wait an extra season and resign Sabonis then use him in a trade. Priorities might be different by then though...

While we're on the Pacers... does TJ Leaf, Caldwell Pope and a second rounder for TJ Warren seem realistic? Year 2, the Suns resigned Oubre.

What about a trade with the Nuggets? Maybe something like

                  Denver Receives:
                  Mike Conley
                  Justin Holiday

                  Memphis Receives:
                  Gary Harris
                  Will Barton
                  2 Future Picks

I know it's really not that much compared to the trades you proposed, but Gary Harris is a really good young guard who has upside and would have a chance to really showcase his talent in Memphis. Will Barton is a really good role player on a pretty good contract. Denver gets an all-star level veteran guard with deep playoff experience and a solid shooter in Holiday who could fit well in Denver's offense.

Well I think it depends on what version of KCP we're talking about. I mean, he was considered a decent role player before this season but he looked terrible during the year. How is he doing in your MyLeague?
It also depends on his contract, if the Suns are saving money it could make sense cause it allows them to resign Booker to a max and to add a max player during free agency. I would maybe throw in another second rounder just because I think the Suns would happily stick with Warren and his contract in real life.

This is a good trade imo, the Nuggets need defense and experience to take the next step and Harris had injury issues all season long. It could really make sense. I also think that Murray playing as a SG next to Conley would be a good fit for Denver's offense but I'm not super confident about my point of view on this.

                      PS:
I really hope we see more trades being proposed daily (not specifically about Conley, but just in general involving any player or team), this thread could really give a huge help to those who want to keep MyLeague as realistic as possible and it could generate interesting discussions.

I'm not really playing him at all, but he's only on a 1+1 at 4.5 a year.

I also have Austin Rivers on a similar deal who can play PG but who is playing awesome for me. Could throw him in instead of KCP.

Do you think the Suns would take seconds or insist on a first? That's the part that's nagging me.

I think that's a pretty good trade too, but I'd rather see Denver trade Harris for a wing. I've been exploring a few Gary Harris trades in my own MyLeague because he's a good young player on a good contract that a lot of teams would be interested in.

While I do think Murray could play more off ball next to Conley, I think Barton is the guy you need to move. He's slightly undersized at the 3 and could be moved back to the 2 of Denver traded Harris for a wing.

Also, I don't think this will happen in real life but it just came to mind - if Denver sent Harris, Plumlee and a first to a team with plenty of cap space, could Denver sign Jimmy Butler in the offseason?!

I'd also like to see this thread a little more active. I've only just discovered it and have posted fairly fequently since. You can expect to see me here more

True. Didn't think about Denver's wing situation besides Porter Jr., but he's obviously a mystery with the back injury. If you're looking for an idea, I don't think there's a star wing player that would be available. Tobias Harris would have been a great fit had he not been traded to Philly. I would say take a look at Taurean Prince from the Hawks. Good size at 6'8, really good shooter, and is decent at creating off the dribble. There were reports that Atlanta was looking to move him earlier this year, so I think he could be a pretty realistic target. As far as Butler, if you're going by real-life scenarios, I don't think he'd fit well with Denver's system and culture. I feel like it'd be the Minnesota situation all over again, but with Jokic and Murray.

Do you think the Suns would take seconds or insist on a first? That's the part that's nagging me.
Well if the Suns didn't sign a PG they could really use Rivers. And I think Warren isn't worth a 1st pick.

You can expect to see me here more
Not a big fan of Butler tbh. Paul George would have been the perfect fit for them, too bad that free agents don't love the Nuggets.
I think they really like Plumlee (rightfully so) but wouldn't have a problem with trading Barton since Malik Beasley is playing way better than him. Also they could have Monte Morris and Porter Jr playing off the bench and then sign a veteran SG to fill the few minutes left, so a trade that sends Barton and Harris somewhere for a superstar could make sense.
Beal would be the perfect fit and could make them a contender, but I don't think they can convince Washington with just those two and picks. Any SG or SF that could be moved and would fit well?
