Re: NBA 2K19 - Trade Discussion Thread
Alright here's the setup for me.
I'm the Knicks, and it's 2021 and Bradley Beal's contract is up for the Wizards. In game he states he wants to test free agency and refuses to re-sign with them.
I have the Mavs unprotected 2021 pick to give up, which looks to be top 5. I have already drafted two players in the past two years - the #2 overall and the #1 overall pick so I really don't need another high draft pick.
Is trading that Mavs pick plus another player like Emmanuel Mudiay fair so that the Wiz don't loose him for nothing? I can just wait to sign him in the offseason outright and keep all my players, but I hate to see the Wiz like this.DETROITComment

I think I will wait to the trade deadline to make the trade. Gives me half a season to prove my case virtually I guess, and if it works at least I have his bird rights when he tests FA.Comment

Re: NBA 2K19 - Trade Discussion Thread
Okay...I'm the Spurs and I want to make the following trade:
SA receives: Robert Covington, Gorgui Dieng
MIN receives: Pau Gasol, Dante Cunningham (salary filler), Quincy Pondexter (salary filler)
Hear me out:
Spurs rationale: Pau Gasol is my 3rd center, he plays well, but he isn't part of my future. I get Covington, who will start, make life hell on opposing forwards (3s and stretch 4s), and hit 3s. I also get a 3rd center in Dieng (replaces Gasol). Dient has an awful contract (15-16-17 the next three years) but its balanced out by RoCo's value deal of 10-11-12-13.
Minnesota rationale: Salary cap relief. Pau makes 16.7mm this year, but in real life, his contract is only guaranteed for $6mm next year. So in the game I will edit him down to $6mm in the offseason and cut him, if he doesn't retire.
The Timberwolves go from 27.5mm in salary next year for RoCo/Dieng to just $6 for Gasol, or zero if he retires (he usually retires after the first season in 2K). They can use that money to add a piece to KAT and Wiggins this summer.
My question is - do I need to add a pick? I have the Raptors 1st rounder this year (lottery protected, they are currently the #1 team in the league), as well as all of my own.
Also- I could put Bryn Forbes in the trade instead of one of the filler guys, but i thought minny would rather have the cap space.Last edited by BobbyColtrane; 02-26-2019, 01:01 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K19 - Trade Discussion Thread
That's a tough one and like you said Roco's value is balanced out by taking on the bad contract. The only issue is that Roco was a major piece in the Butler trade so just dumping him without getting back a asset is tough to sale. I believe Roco also doesn't age well in the game however I haven't tested it since the game came out. I don't think its worth adding a 1st round pick though
I know he was part of that Butler trade but you have seen front offices do drastic things like using Porzingis to clear their cap. With Wiggins' awful deal, if they don't make some sort of move, they won't be able to add anyone to their core.
Do you think its too unrealistic from the Wolves' side?
I wouldn't mind adding my pick or the Raptors pick, they will both be worse than 25th. Maybe Forbes (young, cheap player who can really shoot 3s), Gasol and the Raptors pick?
If I do all expirings though, they should have roughly $20mm in cap space this summer for a free agent.Comment

If he doesn't age well its fine with me. I want him to help me make a run with the Aldridge-DeRozan-Gay core and he fits well with their ages. I need his defense. I have Derrick White, Dejounte Murray and Lonnie Walker behind them.

You could always throw in a 2nd round pick or something that way they get atleast some pick they can trade down the line.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Thanks for the input. Plus the Wolves are well out of the playoff picture, they def need to shake things up. I see RoCo as a complementary guy, they need another talent guy in my opinion.Comment

Yea Roco is a solid role player and useful for a playoff type team, but players like him are replaceable.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: NBA 2K19 - Trade Discussion Thread
So I am running everything through Zach lavine and Lauri markkanen, Otto Porter Jr isn't a factor at all, so I thought about this trade
Bulls trade Otto Porter Jr to the heat for Justise Winslow
I get a wing with better defense who is signed for 3 years
I am desperately trying to acquire cam reddish from the Atlanta Hawks. They have keldon Johnson, DeAndre Hunter and Kris Middleton and also signed JJ redick.... They are not using him and he can start with us.... How many picks/players do you think is fair? I could trade them Brandon Clark, Denzel Valentine or Cam Johnson with picksUser: Silent - BullsNation - SeeRedComment

Re: NBA 2K19 - Trade Discussion Thread
Depends on how he's rated in your ML, but assuming he's in the 78-82 range, a 1st sounds about right -- protected of course in case of disaster, but likely a 25-30 type of 1st overall pick to convey. Philly may not have many picks left to dish out, though -- if the Hornets are a target, I'd aim for Lamb over Monk, as he'd be cheaper (probably just a young prospect plus a pair of 2nds) and long-term wouldn't be as expensive as Monk (if you're under the assumption Monk improves to a point he's better than Lamb, which I am).

Maybe the Otto Porter trade for Miami works. Truthfully, Winslow looks like he's never going to find a consistent offensive game -- as a defender he's aces, but he's just not a player who can take over at the SF spot. Porter can have nights where he can, but that long-term money is not fun for whatever team gets him. Were I the Heat, offloading terrible contracts would be my top-concern so I can get talent in free agency -- Miami's lack of draft picks (thanks Dragic) is going to cripple them down the line if they don't get some free agents to sign in South Beach. Porter is just intriguing enough that maybe the Heat swing that deal, but with a player option in year 3 of 28M (that Porter definitely is picking up), the Heat make that trade to trade Porter in a salary matching move to get a star in South Beach.
As for the Hawks, if they're not using Reddish, then I'd toss Valentine and some lightly protected picks their way. Reddish is a high-upside prospect and someone that could easily be a cornerstone for the right team, but the question is how high you value him and how likely you think your record improves enough that you're not giving away a top-10 pick for him. I'd say Valentine, a lightly protected 1st (say 2020 or down the line, the Hawks will need cheap talent once Young's contract extension comes up, so they don't need immediate gratification) and maybe another young player or a pair of seconds (the Bulls usually sell these anyway).Comment
