    Another thing: Running animations.

They've always looked a little funny to me. They looked okay in - i think it was 2014? Right now something's off. Someone sprinting doesn't look like someone sprinting to me. It doesn't feel like i'm watching the world's most athletic sports players. The heads of the players stay set at the same consistent height during their whole run. A player's head should bop up and down as they sprint. Also, the motion of the run is too consistent. I feel like they should get little bursts every time their foot explodes off the ground for every step. Suggestion: The more athletic the player, the more explosive the foot speed bursts are. The less athletic they are, the more consistent the pace of their run (i.e. the foot bursts are less impactful/noticeable)

I love this idea. I remember Czar talking about how getting the wrong speed on passes can break the game. I think the concept of more realistic running animations would be a massive project that they'd have to get perfect.

Yeah, and on top of that, apparently having tighter and more realistic foot planting makes it hard for the game to run playset motions properly. So running will be a huge challenge for the dev team. But it's gonna have to happen sooner or later if they want the game to look/feel true to life. Currently it's an immersion breaker. The players look like they're riding bikes, their legs are the wheels

Yep. Players don't bend forward to run faster. Hopefully it's a project they;ve been working on over time and it's ready to go soon.

Also: a selection for “No Switching” the switches in 2K are sooooo unnecessary/problematic and we should have an option to avoid them at all costs. Obviously this means both defenders are willing to go "under" everything.

UPDATE: Cheesers know the AI struggles with switching and are running this now so that it leaves someone open. The only workaround I see so far is "staying attached" on everyone. [emoji58]

Another reminder how comically bad the steal system is. This guy dribbles into traffic and turns the ball over and he's mad...so predictably, he's button mashes. While in reality this is should be an easy foul call, NOPE. The gameplay is so poor he not only misses the steal but then spam allows him to deflect the pass for a turnover.

                    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6yZyf1FcuMA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                    SIGH.

Separating on-ball steals (R-stick towards the ball) and passing lane steals (R2+R-stick towards the ball) resolves this.

OF NOTE: This is post-patch 6 when this: "Fixed an issue that caused pass steal attempts to be ignored when pressing Steal too many times." is supposed to be the case.

I thought that was a deliberate fix for steal spamming yet 2k sees that as somthing to fix, lol i'm speechless about that one in particular, pretty pathetic to fix something that shouldn't, it was a good bug if it's called "bug", lol.

Pretty well explained Kush. They absolutely ruined the stellar gameplay and down it to meidocre 2k18 gameplay like now.

Another reminder how block timing is virtually non-existent. While the defender should be in reasonably good position (and have solid block ratings--some guys only get help-side blocks) and go after the ball after its been released (or risk fouls/being out of the play) BUT catering to casuals (destroying any semblance of a skill gap) the game rewards button mashing--timing be damned.

Its kinda like if the shot meter let "very early" or "very late" releases convert on a regular basis.

The worst part? It punishes actually skilled players and robs us of countless and-one opportunities. Look at ALL these instances. We should have opportunities for continuation like the first clip:

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lBQ5fwitxrg" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8TPoWL3ec1M" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gsh1Xj4s1nM" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7QU1dPfOTD0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/vTqKkQ4Y8Os" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TiZTukTjJSs" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The problem with so many of these clips is that the game gives defenders a mulligan and whistles the 2nd jump instead of the first. Here's the thing:

THERE ARE NO MULLIGANS IN COMPETITIVE GAMING.

Everyone has the same opportunities and all this "grading on a curve" does is reward elite players who know about these gaping loopholes in gameplay. Because they know their bad timing will go uncalled, let them stay IN PERFECT DEFENSIVE POSITION and very often will be rewarded with misses like so:

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/V8ocFbsrX9w" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Gameplay basically lets guys fail over and over and OVER again....with no downside.

SIMPLE. If you gamble and miss a block/contest/steal you either miss and your momentum takes you out of the play or you're whistled for a foul. Mistakes must have consequences and the Neutral Outcomes and rewarding bad timing as a contest HAS TO STOP.

Users have the ability to contest shots with the R-stick now so there's an alternative to high-risk/high-reward all-or-nothing steal/block attempts. If a player chooses one of those they simply can't be rewarded for being unsuccessful.

Being blocked because someone presses jump before you press shoot is a common occurrence. This game is better than 18 but there are so many things that make it an unrealistic mess. I want to play basketball with players I like. Not 2k ball where sprinting at someone full speed and swiping results in a steal (or nothing) 60% of the time, or jumping wildly can cause a block because people aren't punished for poor timing like Mike Wang said they would. Its tiring and unless you love playing 2k ball, the game will burn you out

A broken PNR defense is the equivalent of your gun not working in Battlefield, or not being able to build in Fortnite. Ask yourself how long you'd continue to play if you these core features didnt work? Competitive H2H is non-existent is because our defenders randomly decide when they'll follow our directives. I play Catch Hedge 100% of the time yet the roll man consistently runs free to the basket because my defenders frequently decide its a good idea to Hard Hedge or whatever [emoji15]:

                              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LB7v9N0GOmA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Tight D & Stay Attached on Lopez because its the only way he can hurt you? NOPE. Embiid figures its a good idea to randomly switch onto Middleton (who's covered) and leave him y'know...OPEN [emoji15]

                              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/U27BYXd1-vY" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Here he stays attached (like he should) so its confusing...are they going to follow our play-calls or not? The inconsistency can't be a thing.

                              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/QW9j7ES9DRY" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Defenders should follow our play-call 100% of the time--its not a magic bullet it simply means they'll follow the playcall/be in position...whether they make the play or not is going to be based on ability....but imagine KNOWING a pick/pop coming at the end of the game, setting your defense to counter it and having your defenders do something totally random...That can't happen in a competitive environment. We reward one user out-thinking the other--we don't punish it.

                              More random and unnecessary switching:

OAN: Embiid moves his feet really well but is no match for an elite player on the perimeter--gameplay needs to show this. 2K17 had a great mechanic for calling blocking fouls on the perimeter and it needs to return. Its perfect for instances like these where you can exploit a mismatch without always resorting to a blow-by.

Also, that "Drive to Key" is STILL displacing defenders three years after we first talked about it is.....disappointing.

Its the literal definition of a Single Outcome and exploitative gameplay because it ignores matchup and rating and pushes the defender back under the basket and forces them into a "stunned" animation in every instance:

Where are the Charge, Loose Ball and Failed Outcomes where the defender forces the offensive player to pickup his dribble? Here it is in 2K17 when cheesers used it to spam dunks:

2K18: Thon Maker moving Embiid is comical. SHOCKER: Its used in an end-of-game situation when a score is needed.

                                And alas, this year:

                                <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xE5LNXGy7rI" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

What we NEED to see more often:

                                <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/CCCObTgh1rM" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Also: Defenders can't double down AND recover to the 3pt line and get contested shots...that it happens in gameplay is a major size of the court/speed/movement issue. Players can choose to double or stay home on the shooter--they cant do both. They cant stop, double team and then sprint back to stop open 3pters...the "double" animation has to be longer and more difficult to break (like getting caught on a screen) Its been in gameplay too long. 2K20 has to correct this.
