Not necessarily doubting anyone here, but keep in mind badges essentially work as extra ratings, and they added a bunch more, so maybe even if your rating seems trash, the badge will make the difference? Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
You mean I could BUY myself a 95 first thing if I wanted?
I initially read this as good news but I hope it’s not the case. Online play will be flooded with 95 overall sharps/stretches that aren’t good at the game but will consistently green half court 3s with the bad release badge.
Smart by 2K though. I’m sure they’ll rack up billions on little kids making multiple 95s.

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
I'm not positive on this but I feel it's going to be VC until 85 or whatever their number is, then mypoints for attribute upgrades thereafter. So instead of a capbreaker unlocking random attribute caps every time, your mypoints bar, when filled, gives you a handful of attribute points to spend on whatever you want.
Got it - that would be much better.

You have to earn attribute upgrades but can put it toward whatever category you want rather than it be automatically allocated like previous years
Takes about 40hrs to get to 95 according to Mike WangComment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
Downloaded demo. But won't play until tomorrow. At most I will just try out a few builds even though I have an idea of how I want to build player. I don't want to commit to a build just in case they make changes.
I won't get the game until Black Friday salesComment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
I guess then my question would be, does it start off like that from a low overall rating? Or is it VC > mypoints at some overall rating? Orrr is our starting rating going to be higher than before? Are we just assuming it's gonna take 190k vc or whatever to get up to the point at which mypoints come in, or did they confirm?Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
Thanks for the information on this.
Idk if I’m a fan of 40hrs to hit 95. It’s a huge plus for people that have a job, family or other priorities but it’s going to create an even larger gap. I knew a lot of people who couldn’t get games last year as a 75. If 80% of the community is a 95 after the first month, then you’ll have to be a at least a 90 to get a game online. If it takes 40 to hit to 95 it’ll likely only take 15 - 20 to hit 90 overall. However it’s going to take about 10x the amount of time to accumulate the 300K VC you need to reach 90.
It all sounds good, but to me it looks like a money grab that’ll just make the 2K community and online experience even worse. I would imagine 90% of the community are teenagers and college students who will run through 40 hours during the opening weekend and don’t mind paying $200 for their 95.

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
40 hours compared to like, 800 in 2k19? I can hardly believe it, that would be amazing.

Here's the upgrade screen
Start out at 60ovr and you can max out at 85ovr from the jump with about 180k VC same as beforeComment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
Ok the new system is dope
BUT
as an offline player, I'm disappointed that we're still limited in the sense that our 99 (or 95) myplayer will not be a real 99 or 95 myplayer compared to real NBA player
I guess this is the next step they'll need to adress...Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
Yep, I figured, thanks for confirming though.
I'm happy with the shortened grind to 95 and the ability to put your points in the order you choose though, will just have to earn all that VC for my alternate builds over the course of the year.Comment

I will say, going up against Draymond Green every time doesn't help figure out what my PF can do.Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
Hey all! Anyone wanna volunteer some help?
Making a big for a three man park squad. I ONLY play Park. We will likely have a sharp at PG (who will get a lot of points in playmaking) and either a pure lockdown or a lockdown/shooter at SG.
So for me at the SF/"big" spot... I had an athletic finisher in 2019, but wanted a touch of shooting this year... but man, to get that shooting you lose a TON of defense and rebounding. So thoughts for Park... do I go with this guy
Finishing/RebounderDefender
Or this guy...
Finishing/shooter.
Both are 6'10.
I love the 75 midrange to space the floor, but the rebounding and defense is just... bad. 77 interior d max, 69 offensive board max, 76 defensive board max? That's... bad
Thanks for your thoughts!Comment
