It works for normal jump shots, fadeways, step back jumpers etc. I even play other 2k’s (14,15,16,17 and 18) The same applies to them as well. Now on the other hand, the way that the default sliders are, you’ll probably gonna want to increase those sliders by a couple of you do want legit chances to make all the types of jump shots that’s possible in 2k20. Because of certain badges and the penalties for mistimed shots, I would increase shooting sliders to 55 and practice your jump shots. Just remember to pay attention to the knees and the second they’re unbending, release the shot button. It works trust me.
I'm sorry but that shouldn't be how shooting works. Timing the release point at the top of the jump before the player comes down is how most every basketball game is using the shooting mechanic. In 20 it's just horrible. I shouldn't have to watch a players knees or anything below his head to see how to properly release any players shot.

20 is the ONLY game I have EVER played where I can't get anyone's shot down. At all. It's just all over the place. I'm forced to use real player %. Never have I had to do that before. Until this game. And with real fg% comes the bad things. No swishes hardly ever. Hits the rim practically everytime. Takes too much pleasure out of the game for me and my best friend who has the same problem. So we just play the other versions.

No more problems. Hopefully it's corrected going forward or we just won't buy it. Not worth it to me. Let me decide when to release the shot based on the players wrist or hand movement while in the air. I don't even use the meter. Never have. Why would I want to?

It was never a problem before. So to me, and I hate to use this word, but it's broken. The coding in this game needs work. From collisions to shooting to movement. Playing 2k12 and 14 on the 360 is 200% more fun. Know why? I can figure out a players shot. Easily. Why would anyone ever have or need to watch a players knees. That's plain ignorant. That's not directed toward anyone in particular, but to the coding of this game.

Thankfully I never pay 60$ for this game. And don't even get me started on Madden. OMG.....

Perhaps you shouldn’t buy it no more. That’s how the timing is now. Also in fact, the shot defense strength is overpowering thus also making it harder for jump shot timing. Let’s just say that timing a jump shot is more challenging than any other 2k. Me personally always paid attention to the knees of a players jump shot form. Just my preference though.

The fact that some of you guys struggle with shooting so much in this game just absolutely blows my mind. I am not trying to be a jerk but when playing in the park or even proam shooting is so completely overpowered by any ok to decent player that it makes the game very arcadish. Shooting needs to be toned down dramatically as to bring this game back closer to the sim it is marketed as.

I hate how they butchered Real FG%. I feel like I have to use Shot Timing, and I don't enjoy it as much as Real FG% in previous years.

I get buckets, but am absolutely sick of never getting any clean makes.

I play strictly offline with no meter and real player % and can't even get MJ's shot to go in clean - and I know his form inside out. Always off front/back/side rim. Game almost feels like it punishes you for not playing with the arcadey meter.

Not a fan of the changes they made to shooting at all, but it's not gonna stop me from enjoying the game.

I don't mean to pile on, but I don't understand how any of ya'll struggle shooting (Especially this year) when under a stable connection/ or offline.

Are ya'll just not putting in the practice time? Before I play any game online I go to 2KU and practice jumpers with everyone on the roster of the team I'm playing with until I get the timing down. For EVERYONE. I play with no shot meter and I practice with no shot meter.

Maybe this is just not ya'll's year? It happens. There are certain 2K's I just can't play without getting bopped by any and everybody (including CPU) because I don't like how the dribble system is, or how barebones the post game is. It didn't mean the game was neccasarily bad, it just meant I didn't adapt to that year's game well.

Re: How does the OS community feel about shooting in NBA 2K20?

Clean swishes, every year up until 2k20. Never had any problem making crisp shots up until this years game.

I play offline near enough everyday and have been running with Jordan and the Bulls since 2k11. I know their shooting forms and timing exclusively yet this year, nothing but rim rattling makes.

Don't quite know what the issue is. Can't complain, as I'm still making the buckets, but I'm lucky to hit even one swish or 'Green' a game - even in practice.

Ah well, it's not a game breaker. So long as I'm making shots and winning games - that's all that maters.

Well, some us don't have the luxury of using players with MANY HOF/Gold shooting badges while shooting with the easiest jumper/base in the game.

That's kinda the point. I shouldn't have invest in 15-20 minutes just to be able to run in for a quick game. Or be punished for using a shot meter because I want to use a different team without spending said 15-20 minutes.

Well I posted what to look for as far as getting the perfect releases earlier on this forum. The badges as well as the overpowering shot defense strength (shot contest system) in addition to the stiff penalties for mistimed shots are the very reason shooting seems very difficult. I am an offline player who gets green releases on command. I do run plays to get teammates open as well and that definitely helps with timing shots better. Shooting not necessarily hard. You just have to really work to get that open shot

you should Not use arcade Mode as a measuring example for shooting. of course shooting is easy There.

I dont play park, pro-am, mycareer none of that. Im in my 20s; when I want to “be in the game” I just pick up a ball and go to xsport...if I need more I sign up for leagues. I can actually play the sport still and when conditioning can play at a nice level. I also understand the actual game of basketball which means nothing if you want to be good at this game.

I play PNO and MLO and the shooting is based on momentum first and badges second whether playin with legends or without. The only people I play who green constantly are people that play 24/7 and cheese. Momentum makes skill and basketball knowledge meaningless.

Practice mode and actual in/game shooting could not be more different.

Damn...I miss my days of playing basketball at a high level. Used to play 2-3 times a week and 2-4 games per trip. Random thought, lol. Bad right knee and sprained lower back keeps off the court now.
