I think if you do it within reason and it makes sense. Like don’t switch a guy to SF just to trade him to a team that has one as good or better. You’ll have to police yourself but I always try to make trades feel realistic.

      Re: 2K20 Trade Thread

Looking for some feedback on some trades for a Blazers MyLeague. I have simmed through to the 2020 offseason and want to bring in Ben Simmons to play PF with Lillard.

I would appreciate any feedback on the below trades and if there fair value.

      Trail Blazers get Ben Simmons
76ers get CJ McCollum, Anfernee Simons, Gary Trent Jr, 2021 unprotected first round pick

Blazers get a young all star who I think would thrive as a PF with shooting around him. 76ers get a high level player to add shooting around Embiid and Horford. Also get some good young players to round out the rotation and an unprotected first.

To add more shooting around Simmons, I also looked at the below,

Trail Blazers get Dominic Theis + 16th pick 2020 draft
      Celtics get Jusuf Nurkic

Blazers get a solid centre who can spread the floor plus a mid first. Boston get a great center who fills the last hole in their starting 5.

I think you would need to throw in some more picks to make it realistic. Simmons is a top 15, possibly a top 10 player and still has a lot of upside. McCollum is more of a second or third option, but not a true superstar. So imo youd need to throw in like two more firsts.

I'm close to the 2024/25 season in MyLeague and looking to add the final pieces to be a true contender. A rim protector is the most pressing need so Im aiming at Rudy Gobert. He is 32 now and regressed a little (85 Ovr), but could still be the final piece. I'm thinking about Domantas Sabonis (79 Ovr, still playing 2k19, so he didnt develop that nicely) and a mid first 2024 first rounder. Is that fair?

Jazz, who missed the Playoffs, get a younger, more versatile center who earns about half of Gobert. They stay competitive, get more cap space and a pick to add talent around Mitchell. I get my rim protector on a 1 year rental and keep flexibility.

I agree with another post that you need to add more picks to the Simmons. I’d say the 21 unprotected, a 23 unprotected and then when you can trade it a 25 unprotected, or maybe top 3/5 protected.

The Nurkic trade isn’t awful. You’re downgrading at the five and I think you can honestly get a shooting 5 in FA without giving up Nurkic. That would also allow you to have different attacks, like a Simmons-led group and a Dame-Nurkic PnR unit. Your closing five might be a bit clustered in the paint but a good unit none the less.

If you’re trading Nurkic I’d want to get back more than Theis and a mid-first.

In the 2020-21 season, I traded Julius Randle to the Blazers for Trevor Ariza, filler, and a 1st round pick. I think that's something that could actually happen in real life.

                ORL receives
                Johnson (76 ovr)
                Looney (75 ovr)

Curious on any opinions on the likelihood a deal like that goes through, or if I'd have to throw in anything else.

Similarly, looking to acquire Myles Turner if anyone has thoughts on a deal, again with the starting point being Johnson's contract.
Aaron Gordon 1 point higher than James Johnson? Interesting.

Celtic’s roster has a lot more lower ratings for the mid-tier players, which feels more realistic. Johnson ended up dropping his overall after the season, but I do think he’s still a relatively reliable piece just hasn’t had a place where he could get playing time.

A little background: Jazz are struggling and missed the playoffs. They got a young, defensive minded PF next to Mitchell and could use some cap room. Sabonis is a solid starting center on a contract earning him 18 million per year. Gobert is entering his last year, making about 32 million.

It depends on if Gobert contract is viewed as a negative and how important saving the 14 million is. From what you said it seems fair

                        Re: 2K20 Trade Thread

I did the trade a few days ago. I got lucky in the lottery and had the 3rd pick (from a trade I did with the Kings about 2 years ago), so I made a 3 team deal:

                        Sharks (me) get:
                        Rudy Gobert
                        5th pick (Pacers)

                        Jazz get:
                        8th pick (Pacers)
                        Domantas Sabonis
                        24 2nd

                        Pacers get:
                        3rd pick (Jaheim Hopkins)
                        Jrue Holiday
                        24 1st (Timberwolves)

The Pacers pretty much won the offseason with this. Hopkins was by far the best player in a top heavy class, no idea why he dropped to 3rd. At least, I got the two players I wanted. Jazz replaced Gobert with a younger, cheaper center and added an asset in the draft for a possible future trade.

Pacers give up 5, 8, and Sabonis to move up 2 spots?!

I'm already thinking of trades for either Turner or Sabonis for 2k21. I like either Turner for Jalen Brown or Sabonis for John Collins.

Nah, there is more context. Its 2023 and Sabonis was my player. Im also still on 2k19 and he didn't develop that well, being an 79 OVR right now. So Pacers gave up the 5th and the 8th pick for the 3rd and a 1st rounder next year.

I would rather give away Turner. Oladipo, Brown and Sabonis sounds pretty good. I think the Celtics wouldnt deal Brown straight up for Turner though.

So I finally made my 1st trade after driving myself nuts for the last few weeks with trying to keep it "Realistic" . I had 2 main targets I was going for , Khris Middleton and Oladipo . I really wanted Khris Middleton as my 1st choice to bring to the Raps but i just couldn't get it done , so I just gave up and tossed Kyle Lowry and as much as it hurts Vanvleet went on the Block with him and just left it up to the trade finder . And to my amusement the Pacers offered up Oladipo and Brogdon , done deal ! After 3 weeks of driving myslef crazy I'm happy to say I'm thrilled with this deal and cant wait to hit the court with them .

I'm not sure who I'd rather the Pacers traded. The Pacers are my team and I love both guys but one is almost certainly on the way out. I think I'd rather the team kept Turner and dealt Sabonis. His rim protection and 3 point shot is too valuable imo and his post game is developing. Sabonis's primary advantage is his ability to facilitate offensively. The Pacers have Oladipo, Brogdon, Holiday, McConnell for that but no one else can stretch the floor and play defense like Turner.

If they did trade Turner, however, I think the Celtics should do it straight up for Brown. Whether they would or not is another matter. Turner gives them exactly what they need and a line up of Kemba, Smart, Tatum, Hayward, Turner would be nasty. Turner + Holiday might get it done but I'm not sure I'd want to give up both for Brown when the Pacers need a 4 far more than they need a 2/3.
