NBA 2K20 MyLeague Thread

So I decided to do a "MyLeague MyCareer". I want to play this as sim as possible so I will be playing 11 minute quarters on Hall of Fame, don't regulate sim stats, regulate sim minutes. There won't be any constant calling for the ball, stat-padding, etc, I will just let the game flow. All team settings will be set to auto, all coach settings will be set to auto, play-vision full. The only setting that won't be on auto is Trades, I will leave it to myself to approve those (throughout the league) so teams don't destroy themselves like 2K AI tend to do.

I made Ray Westbrook, a 6'5 Guard out of Duke. His main strengths are defense, ball-handling, and finishing at the rim. He has some potential for shooting (74 3pt, 73 mid, 71 close), but it will take some time to develop into a true threat from beyond.



To get Ray into the league, I downloaded one of the top PS4 classes (detail I believe), took the worst prospect in the class, and replaced him with Ray. I simulated the entire first season (Bucks defeat Nuggets 4-0 to win Finals) and was completely hands off with everything team related. The only thing I did was re-sign Anthony Davis to the Lakers (I will be doing things like this for other teams too to make sure the league doesn't get too ridiculous with dumb signings).



The Hornets ended up winning the lottery and selected Ray Westbrook first overall. They will play him at Shooting Guard.

The Cavaliers selected Anthony Edwards second overall (80ovr), Wiseman went to the Warriors with the third pick (80ovr), LaMelo went to Atlanta fourth (79ovr), and Killian Hayes went fifth overall to the Bulls (75ovr).



The Hornets didn't make any major moves in the offseason besides signing Danilo Gallinari to a 3yr/$53.87m contract. He immediately becomes the highest rated player on the team at 84ovr.

His excels at defense, is hyper-athletic, is a consistent finisher, is a solid rebounder, is bad at passing, can't post up, and has potential in shooting. Has stand-out defensive badges, and a good amount of bronze badges overall which leaves him with a lot of room to grow and become a good all-around player. He's a friendly, hard-working player who values team success to an extreme amount and gets very frustrated playing for a poor program. No matter how bad the situation is though, he will not check out and give up on the team.

OPENING NIGHT

Opening night was against the Cleveland Cavaliers, making this a showdown between the first and second overall picks of the draft!







The Hornets ended up pulling away in the fourth quarter to win 103-87! Ray Westbrook put up 28 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists, 4 steals, 3 blocks, 2 turnovers, and 3 fouls in 31 minutes! An absolutely stellar debut game! He shot 9-15 from the floor, 5-7 from beyond the arc, and 5-6 from the stripe.



Anthony Edwards had a great debut game too with 21 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 steal on 9-16 shooting (3-4 from 3) in 21 minutes! The two rookies were the only 20+ point scorers in the game, with Miles Bridges' 19 coming in third place.

Going to start a myleague with a different concept. Going to start off as a assistant in Detroit. All my grades will be D's. Have to watch the games cant play them until i become a HC. There will be many objectives i can achieve to increase my grades, unlock front office features for ex. Have someone on your team be named a allstar- Unlock the ability to do contract extensions,
Sweep the season series against a top 5 seed in the east +2 Upgrade to grades, Win your division- +1 upgrade, Unlock ability to sign Fa's Make playoffs +3 upgrades, Unlock ability to trade. ect, eventually when my grades get high enough i should be able to get a head coaching offer. Should be fun!

so i just got the game as it was on sale, when i create an expansion franchise players acessories like arm bands and stuff are all a kinda dark blue and do not match the teams color is there a way to fix this?

Westbrook's first year in the league ended with Giannis winning MVP once again (his third straight) and the Hornets actually making the playoffs as the 5th seed! They defeated the 4th seeded Hawks 4-3 in the first round but were quickly swept by the top seed Milwaukee Bucks in the second round who went on to win the championship yet again, this time 4-3 over Portland.

In 2021 Ray began to accumulate accolades, winning Rookie of the Year, becoming 1st team All-Rookie, 1st team All-Defense, and 2nd Team All-NBA! His final stats for the season were: 21.8PPG/6.3RPG/5.5APG alongside 2.2SPG and 2BPG! He also had 2.6TOPG. Westbrook had shooting splits of 46.2/34.7/85.5 for a TS% of 57.4%. He played 31.1MPG, taking 17.4 FGA per game, 7.5 3PA per game, and 3.6FTA per game.

In his sophomore year Ray Westbrook (86OVR) continued to produce, now putting up 25.3PPG/7.2RPG/7.3APG with 2.4SPG and 2.1BPG as the best player on the Hornets. He played 36.2MPG with shooting splits of 45.9/34.2/88.7 for a TS% of 57.7%, a sliver above last year. His shot attempts increased to 20.2FGA per game and 9.6 3PA per game. It's great to see the increased offensive load come with increased efficiency.

Westbrook has taken the next step, making First team All-NBA, First team All-Defense, and becoming a first time All Star! He also notched another prestigious award... MVP! In his rookie year there was some small chatter about the award but nothing serious, falling outside of Top 5 votes, but this year Westbrook showed just how important he is to a team.

The Hornets managed to win 50 games and snag the 4th seed in the East, however they lost in the first round to the 5th seeded Pistons, 4-1. A disappointing exit for the young MVP. Westbrook has become increasingly frustrated with the Hornets FO, asking for them to get some help on the team. All Charlotte has managed to do is sign players like Derrick Favors, Danilo Gallinari, and Steven Adams to 22m+/yr contracts. Westbrook believes that the team needs another star alongside him but the FO continues to sign middling players and use valuable cap space.

The Bucks once again won the championship! This time 4-1 over the Nuggets. Giannis now has 3 MVPS, 3 trophies, and 3FMVPs to his name. He is 27 years old and is in Milwaukee until 2024, is Giannis making a run for the case of GOAT? LeBron is still a 96OVR in Los Angeles under contract until 2023 when he will be 38 years old. Will he hang it up or continue dominating into his 40s?

Westbrook enters year three with the Hornets at 94OVR, he has bulked up to 185 from 175 in his rookie year. The Hornets have started the year off 0-4 and next season is Westbrook's contract year. It seems the team has until the end of next season to impress the reigning MVP or he may look into his options. Despite Ray's frustrations, the team maintains that he is untouchable and will remain in Charlotte.

Edit: To progress I am giving Ray 5 attribute points to spend and 2 badge upgrades each off-season (but no Gold->HOF upgrades). Since he won MVP I gave him two bronze badges aswell. Again I am not controlling anything regarding staff, player signing, training camps, rotation, etc, at all. I play some key games here and there but have been simming a lot. For the playoffs I've been doing play 1, sim 2 until the team gets more competitive.

Under the scouting of the draft class, select any player and hit X (on PS4). An option will appear to upload draft class.

Is anyone else bothered how the CPU signs their players to ridiculously low salaries (that the players are agreeable to)?

I just wanted to start with this question but mostly because...

I LOVE doing MyLeague and usually prefer to play with either one team or a team in each conference, but I feel like the league is just not ideal enough when the CPU is doing uncharacteristic things like I mentioned above.

Any ideas for how I can have fun with it? Should I just control all CPU teams but play with one team?

The problem with that is I would need to decide who gets all the free agents and such...

I imagine that a lot of OS'ers probably do 30-team control, but only play games as 1 team (or 1 in each conference, or whatever sort of config one prefers).


There just isn't a way to get solid front office moves from the CPU, so you have to do it yourself, which makes off-seasons more tedious than they'd be otherwise, but if you follow the actual NBA it's not too bad (you'll kind of already have a sense of what guys are worth, where they'd be a good fit, etc.), and it's fun in its own way, since you can make moves that you think would be interesting to see in real life, you can play out real life rumors (like sending DeRozan to the Magic; or last year having Kyrie and KD sign with the Knicks), etc.


RealGM is a good place to go for trade ideas and to get a feel for how certain fanbases feel about their players (like Suns fans being worried about paying Oubre, so maybe in your MyLeague make the Suns flip him for something).
