What do you mean trading lotto picks to be more realistic?

Yeah, that I already determined how to do myself. What about making the salary cap like sky high? That would make players sign for more...but then any team could sign the players?

It's just really annoying having to control all 30 teams. That's not how the game is meant to be and it kind of takes away the enjoyment of "competing".

No i just mean I literally don’t understand what youre talking about doing. You mean like trading down in the draft? Or have you seen some kind of glitch with lottery drawing?

As for the cap, I prefer to keep it realistic because I do 30 team control. The competitiveness aspect doesnt bother because at least for me, i like competition during actual bball games, but in terms of front office moves, I just like coming up with interesting yet believable scenarios around the league, like an NBA fanfic or something

By that I mean do the lottery as normal after my 2019-20 season, and then trade picks myself to make the results line up more with what was happening in the actual NBA this year. For example, I might swap the T-Wolves 9th pick with the Suns 4th pick.

How many teams do you play with? and a 58-game season? I was thinking even like one team per division. Also that would be it's fair share of simulated games if I let the CPU play when two of my teams play each other. What do you think of that idea?

That sounds reasonable, but it's all very personal preference (how much time you have to devote to the game, etc.).



I only play as my real-life team, the Warriors. Season is 82 games, which for one team is manageable enough for me. Nothing wrong with 58 though. May be more accurate for this season lol. If it were me and I was into playing with a bunch of different teams, I'd probably set it up as an 82-game season, then: If I'm playing as 2 teams, play every other game for both; if I'm playing as 3 teams, play 1 out of every 3 games; and so forth. One nice thing about this is that since you're simming some games, guys on those teams actually have a chance to get injured. When I'm playing every game and playing as the Warriors only, no one ever gets injured (except for like a random day-to-day injury due to something that happened in practice). In that scenario there has to be a workaround, like simming a league in parallel, or using that MyLeague Random Event Generator.

Oh I see. In my current MyLeague, I wanted to do kind of a Start Today at the point where the season was suspended and then sim to the beginning of 2020-21 (since I'm the Warriors and we're out of playoff contention). I wanted to use my custom roster though, which you can't do with Start Today, but since my roster is a '19-20 Opening Night roster, I just started the season over with it, but used Force Win to make sure that the standings end up basically the same (not as time-consuming as you'd think; you only have to do teams that may over- or under-perform), while also manually executing the various trades and punching in the major injuries (Curry, Kyrie, Blake's surgery, etc.).


The lottery ends up playing out realistically then (we took Anthony Edwards at #2, for instance, with the Knicks taking Lamelo at #1). The good thing doing it this way is that the records match the picks, so you don't end up with a 7th seed Warriors team picking in the top 5. If you don't care about the numbers though and are just trying to get past the '19-20 season and into the draft, then your way works just fine though.


P.S. In my alternate universe, the rest of the '19-20 season simmed out with the Clippers winning the Finals in 6 over the Bucks. The biggest postseason surprise was the Magic beating the Raptors in 7 and then the Pacers in 7 to get to the ECF. The Heat had a humiliating first round exit and were thus willing in the offseason to bite the bullet and trade for CP3. Very curious to see how it plays out.

Does trade value go up with better performance in myLeague?

Yeah, the last time I did that in the 2020 offseason, I traded Julius Randle to Portland. I also traded GS first overall pick for Lauri Markkanen and the 8th pick.

I think it's really interesting also. It seems like 2K is always content with how it operates so I don't see us being able to not control CPU teams next year. Good to know I'm doing the right thing though.

Please continue sharing your ideas especially as it relates to realistic sounding trades for the 2020-21 season.

Hi guys, I'm crossposting my post on JB's fictional draft thread here because I want to know your take on it.

First of all thank you a lot for your work, these classes are incredible, I'm having a ton of fun with them. I have a specific question in my mind regarding the intangible and potential stats, english is not my native language so sorry in advance if I don't phrase it correctly.

As far as I know, the intangible stat is a bull**** stat 2k put in the game to tweak artificially the gen of the players. So 2 players with the exact same attributes but with different intangible attributes won't have the same gen.

Today I drafted a 72 gen player with an intangible attribute at 25, if I bump this attribute to 50 his gen goes to 75, so my conclusion is that he is a better player than his original gen shows. Meanwhile the AI drafted a 76 gen player with 80 intangibles, so his gen is inflated in comparison with my rookie.

First I wanted to bump my rookie's intangible but I thought of his progression. He has a 89 potential rating and a late peak debut age. If I bump his intangible to have him at 75 gen instead of 72, and if he develops well he will be a 89 player but with a high intangible attribute. That means that he will go from 75 to 89, so +14.

If I don't tweak anything, he will go from 72 to 89, so +17. I think that even if at the end he has the same gen, the low intangible version will have better attributes than the other because he achieved 89 gen without the artificial intangible bump.

So my questions are : did I read the situation correctly ? Will the low intangible version player develop more than the high intangible version, despite having the same gen at the end ? So is it better to draft low intangible players ?

just curious, is the myleague #1 pick tourney bug where if a team wins the tourney one year, but in the next playoffs next year still end up in the tourney happening?

Messing around with expansion teams and editing jerseys. I've noticed that even when downloading 3 jersey sets, I only end up with 2 jerseys. Is there a trick to getting all 3 jerseys to show up in MyLeague instead of one of them (the alternate uniforms) getting lost?

About to start my third season with the Celtics. I had the 6th pick in the draft thanks to the Grizzlies pick not conveying in 20-21 and drafted Makur Maker.

I pretty much re-signed all of my guys (I just can't force myself to get rid of any of the Celtics regualrs just yet)

After Summer League I decided to trade Mitchell Robinson since he was in the last year of his deal and I probably couldn't afford to re-sign him. I ended up trading him to the Lakers for a pick swap in the 22 drafts, their 23 pick (which is actually a swap with the Pelicans), and Tre Jones.

My roster heading into the season:

PG - Kemba Walker, Carsen Edwards, Tre Jones, Zaire Wade (2W)
SG - Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Romeo Langford, Jimma Gatwech (2W)
SF - Gordon Hayward, Malik Beasley, Patrick Williams

New question: Do you know why a MyLeague has to be converted to an online save as soon as you customize 2 teams? Are there ways to circumvent this? Ways to go back to offline in some way?

The only solution I know is to not trigger the online save.
