Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
So sick of these try hard squads.
Is it too much ask to just hop in a game with randoms and play other randoms.
Sure I could take 10-15min looking for a team, or backing out 100x, etc. but sometimes that's not feasible and we should be able to just hop in a game and not have these mismatches where it's me + my braindead teammates vs a squad running the Princeton offense smh. Waiting around or being mismatched shouldn't be our only options.
I've even been ignored as the 1 for the 2 or 3 who wants to drive the ball down the court. Sometimes I have to pretend I'm a 3 despite being a 6'3" guard who is not all that athletic, lol.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Teams who play Zone are pathetically laughable. 5 out, I'm fine with that, but Zone? Is it really that serious to play against randoms using Zone?
Speaking of which, how do you hear Zone? I think most teams run 2-3 and it looks hard to beat. I'm guessing both bigs gotta be able to shoot to break it which sucks because most bigs can't shoot. My center can shoot 3s, but that doesn't breaker it. The courts also need to be a bit bigger imo
What 2k needs to do is make a ranked and unranked Pro Am. I think that'll stop teams from going to RecComment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
I've already covered zone defense ad nauseam. But what I'll reiterate is that the hardest part about beating the zone is the ability to play passing lanes as well as they do. This is not limited to the half court set either. Simply press the ball handler at the inbound, wait for him to throw the ball up court and get easy fast break buckets.
There should be a set number of archetypes that can play passing lanes effectively. Not everyone in the NBA is a ball hawk, so this should be represented in the MyPlayer modes as well.
If you don't specialize in defense, on ball steals, passing lanes and blocks should be reserved to players in the 80+ range of these attributes.
Even if you have a 79 block, you should rarely be able to get them. Players like Kawhi need to mean something.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
How many people make defender builds with long wingspans, though?Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
One reason is the silly categories they've implemented this year.
My dude a SF with the defensive/shooting chart and I'm labeled a 3-level scorer. They're there, you just don't know it.PSN: KarlMarx24Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Since I was bored out of my mind this weekend and tired of the game in general, I decided to make a troll build.
6ft pg, def/shooting pie chart.
Speedy Gonzalez with 95 accl / speed
Speed boost out of the box.
Came out as a allround two way guard or something like that

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Gross. This new match making is stupid. I have a. 82 PF. Hardly any badges. But instead of giving me other 80s when i go into the locker room solo, i keep getting 60s and 70s. I'm scared that if i start a game I'm going to be matched up with a full squad who brought out all badged out 85ers just to get low competition.
We'll try it.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Oh man... That was worse than i thought. Lmao!
Not because the other team was good. It's that both teams were REALLY bad. There was ONE 90+ character on the floor. My match up was a 74 7'3 and i only have rebound chaser Bronze so i couldn't grab anything. I had to leave cuz my internet was crapping out on me.
Once i get some badges i may leave this guy right at like an 89 or something cuz I'm an 82 right now. That was hilarious.Comment

No more getting paired with a bunch of 77 rookies when I'm running my 97s, and with my 85 I get paired up with everyone below 92-93 and same with the opposing team. Yes, sometimes you can get horrible teams (like the time I had 3 slashers and two paint beasts and no one would shoot outside the paint), but at least there's no more of running into a squad of 98avr elite 2s. And when I run my 97s, it means the other players also have something invested in winning (since their ratings will go down otherwise) so on average people try a little bit more.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Yep... Full squads of 85 or under players fully badged out. That's the thing now. All of my teammates quit within the first 3 minutes we were down 30.
People really have no shame.
Instead of Rep OR overall, it should be based on team Win%. That way, no matter what you're ranked, what your overall is you're getting the most fair match up for your team.Comment
