Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

    Some rec random survival tactics:

    1) Stay below 93 overall. This will match you up only with teammate and opponents under 93 as well. Once you get to 92, work on maxing your badges. Don't raise your rating until your badges are pretty much maxed and you can go from 92 to 95 at once. After that, best to only play that character with friends.

    2) Either play as a playmaker who gets put at PG a lot, or make a build that doesn't require someone set them up (a rebounding/defender type typically). Otherwise you might find yourself frozen out of a game as the moron PG puts up garbage and the center collects offensive boards. If you are really good, occasionally your random teammates will start to realize that and give you the ball. This requires being both assertive and successful.

    3) Quit by joining another session if things get out of hand. There's no penalty for finding another person in your friends list and joining their game to quit out of a rec game. If its middle of the 2nd quarter and you haven't seen the ball there is no shame in quitting. Don't waste your time.

#2 all day. Had a 3-level SF until two months ago and the game was so often out of my hands having a non-ball handling or big enough to rebound build. Made a Glass/Lock and things much more fun with randoms.

Hmmm last night played 3 games. 2games against 5 stacks that zone and spam. Went 3-0. Miss me with that "it's a guaranteed loss if you face a squad " mess

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

Can someone explain why the 2K online community is maybe the worst community in videogames, check that, worst community on earth lol. I just want to play a few games of virtual bball with a few decent players and not wait 30min to start the game. Is that too much to ask.

I run into one of the negative types on this list almost every game.

Some of these may overlap, but imo here are a lot of the types you'll see, and my % estimates (won't add up to 100% 'cause they overlap). I'll probably update this list ---

                Casuals (80%)

                - Just there to have fun
                - Probably suck
                - Low bball iq
                - Big smile on his face down 50 pts (btw I've ran with these people in different sports IRL. Giddy losing by 50 in flag football lmao)

                Crackheads/Shortbussers (80%)

                - Literally mentally challenged, not capable
                - Could be kids/tweens
                - You could give them 100 tips and they still won't learn
                - Bball iq or iq of any kind is almost non-existent

                P.O.S. / Trolls / Toxic (60%)

                - High a-hole tendency in some way
                - Will sell a game after 2 possessions of not getting the ball
                - Will clog the paint just so that you miss and he gets the O reb
                - May rage on mic
                - Buddy balls to his bff4ever who is shooting 2-15 from the floor

                Buddy Ballers (45%)

                - BFFS4EVER with hearts
                - Would freeze out the Michael Jordan of 2K because he's not a 'buddy'
                - Plans on going to the chapel to marry his squad after the game
                - May pass it to you by accident

                Glitchers (35%)

                - Gamers first and foremost, any game they play they're looking for the glitch
                - The kinda dudes that'll look for a PC mod to autofire in COD
                - The opposite of basketball purists, they'll do whatever

                Potheads / Buzzed (30%)

                - Just something to do while high
                - He's there for the party chat
                - Usually in their own world on the court
                - Slow to react

                Sweaty Tryhards (30%)

                - Will sell their soul for a win
                - Like to hang out in under 92 Rec with their 5out 23 zone bum hunting squad and congratulate themselves for beating a team full of noob randoms.
                - Known to glitch

                Ballers (5% or lower)

                - Basketball purists
                - Expect the game to simulate real basketball
                - Know a lot about the sport and/or play IRL
                - May overlap with tryhards, competitive
                - High bball iq

Wow... You obviously have never smoked weed. Lol

I play so much better when I'm high it's not even close.

I don't get mad as often. I'm super focused.

There are times when my buddies and i get side tracked and we laugh at something stupid, but usually that's when we're up a bunch.

But yeah... Being a pothead got nothing to do with anything.

To be fair, he didn't say anything super negative about them.

Well for one.... Over half these community doesn't even like basketball or a fan of basketball. They just got 2k because it's now a popular game and more casualized (I know that's not a real word but yall know what I mean lol)

I have to say that 2k17 was the last title before 2k fanbase got muddied up with the likes you see today. Park games were vibrant. No one ran. You see someone with their shirt off, you rush over there to try to beat them for bragging rights. Now if someone even has a low rider bike, people just run.

Also explains why 2k fanbase doesn't want a truly realistic game and fight for the game to be more arcadey so they can dribble dribble dribble with no repercussions. Any idea to move the game to a more realistic simulation is shot down by comments like "go outside if you want real basketball " or. "It's a video game, it's supposed to be fun "

I know I kinda got off track there at the end but I had to get it off my chest.

No, you're fine. Playing as the center, it's just amazing how many bad shots that I see people take after dribbling for 15 seconds. What's also amazing, is that the people with the worst shooting percentages, always take the most shots. At some point, you got to say to yourself that you're shot ain't falling it's time to go to something else. It's frustrating watching guard play in this game.

I play as a shooting center and I can't tell you how many times guards look me off and act like I shouldn't be out the paint. Luckily I have a friend I play with that's a PG and our pick and pop game is great.

This damn matchmaking slotted me at the SF position with two other centers. SMDH.

So....who needs a good center on Xbox? This constant losing is getting on my nerves. Just checked today, and I only won 39% of my games
