I got into it with someone yesterday about hitting me on the roll. He wanted me to give him a screen, so he could pass to me on the roll. I was like...How about you pass me the ball instead and let me abuse this 6'8" PF who's playing out of position against me?

Even if it's "better" i know the mechanics are the same. I want new animations and a new "feel" to the game.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
You can definitely yam on dudes in this game man. They did a better job of highlighting athleticism this year. The key is momentum. I have a 6’10 Center with good speed, vertical and strength and I dunk on everything. I also outrebound the bigger builds because I get to my spot faster.
For me, I just need the ball in my hands earlier on cuts or even just stationary at the elbows or the perimeter. A lot of the time guards wanna hit me 3 feet from the basket or underneath it which gives me weaker animations.
Most of the big men I see struggling to finish are the ones who just strafe in and out of the paint. It’s still almost impossible to finish around the hoop if you’re not driving if anyone at all is standing there. I’ll try to record some clips next time I play.

Last year, you would have loved me at the 4 spot. I could operate mostly off the wings and corners cuz i could hit that with a 60-something. If i didn't have it initially, a screen and roll out of the 4 and 5 was my specialty. I loved pulling a big out and feeding the 5 1on1. My last character was probably the best for that style tho. He was a 6'9 pure playmaking PF. So i got all the HOF dribbling badges with a 70 ball handling and 3 rating. I shook so many 4s and 5s with that guy.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
It’s like pulling teeth sometimes man. I’ve had matchups against teams running 4 guards when I end up at PF and have a 6’5 SG against me. And still I can’t get anyone to put the ball in my hands. Some players just feel like big men are incapable of creating their own shot. Not gonna lie, a lot of bigs I play against are pretty useless outside of oops and pick and rolls. I prefer getting the ball further away from the hoop so I can find my angle. A lot of bigs either play their angles poorly or sit right under the hoop. That’s bbq chicken if I can find a lane. If not, I’ll pass the ball or drive and kick.
Bigs can make plays too!

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Aargh! I wish they would fix that. To me, if you're still able to maintain a "A" team grade in a losing effort, I think you should be awarded no less than 98. At the end of the day, you still played like a superstar. Of course, it might encourage more selfish play on losing teams, but most people tend to quit after being down so many points.
Yeah I think the system is horribly broken. The deviation for winning or losing doesn’t need to be that significant. Like you said, if the cap for losing was 98.5 it wouldn’t be such a ridiculous hit when you lose a game. Then maybe high overall players wouldn’t feel the need to squad up. That and the teammate grade system need a full redesign in my opinion.

Yeah I was kinda about to view it as a bluff then I said screw it and operated as if he was telling the truth. The Youtbers all confirmed shooting was harder b4 the gam came out tooComment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
The matchmaking is also extremely awful in Proam, we are a bronze less than 10 game proam team and we have faced plenty of 100 played games & even 200 played games silver teams ... no one of our players is above 89. This is for 3 vs 3 proam.
At least make it so you either face teams with similar games played, or with similar badge (bronze vs bronze), or even similar skills (a mix of team badge and games played, as well as player overalls and grades)
The shooting, oh well, opponents just pack the paint and only have to hit a couple of threes to pull a game, but that is another topic.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
So anybody already in the 92+ bracket for 2K21?
Is that 95+ nonsense from last year still around?
Wondering if i should go pass 92 or not.....

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
It's the exact same nonsensical system as last year where it deducts 0.5 overall points every time you lose a rec/pro am game regardless of how well you played in defeat.
Then when you win your next game with a 99.9 rated performance your overall only goes back up by 0.2 points.
It's an unfairly penalizing system designed to keep people chasing the elusive carrot on the stick (99 rating) because 2K is scared that people will just stop playing their game if their character ever becomes permanently maxed out.
I would argue that it actually has the exact opposite effect, in that it makes me want to play the game less, because I know if I just hop into a match with random teammates I have a very high chance of losing precious overall points that are annoyingly difficult to regain. So now I only want to play the game when I know for sure that all of my teammates are good enough players to give us a high likelihood of winning because losses are so harshly penalizing to my overall rating, which is directly tied to the animations that I'm allowed equip, my ability to speedboost, my ability to shoot consistently, etc.

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
They need to find a way to get people separated.
They gotta get all of the EXTRA TRASH people out. They gotta get all of the people who mess up the game out.
Why is it so hard to get people who pass with a purpose other than an instant assist, people who at least try to understand defensive schemes. There have to be tens if not hundreds of thousands of such players, even if their stick skills are awful... gimme those guys.
I also think they need to rebalance teammate grade. It'd be cool to have captain rec where you pick teams. Auto-captain, shoot for captain, two highest win % captain. The problem is a lot of the times 8/10 of the people are trish. Still, it'd be different. Would probably lead to less whining. You'd still get on a team even with a build people were like ??? and fewer people would dash board prol.

You'll have a much better rec center experience at 92 overall if you mostly play with random teammates and don't have a regular 5-man crew to run with. Once you go up to 93 overall it puts you in the highest tier matchmaking queue with 99 overall characters and most of your opponents will be 5-man squads in a party. 92 overall characters are put in a lower matchmaking tier where you're less likely to go against full 5-man parties and all of your opponents will be at or below the 92 MyPlayer rating.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
At 92 overall the only thing my C lacks is offense rebounding and passing lol.
Im pretty much guaranteed to hit a A+ grade avg 8pnts 14 rebs and 2 assist while barely trying to scoreComment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
I play in the 92+ queue and I don’t find it a ton different to be honest. Maybe I play against slightly more squads. I still get under 92 teammates and opponents regularly though so I don’t full understand how matchmaking works.
