Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
I met a 7'0 blue fro'd center who passes better than 90% of the random guards I've played with, lol...dude was straight up dimin'....had 20 boards and 10 assists.
I figured he was somehow decked out with playmaking badges but he wasn't....it's crazy what a little IQ will do. We were an ill twin tower out there.Comment

Could be. I don’t see how staying under 92 would really help then unless you always play with friends who are the same.

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Rec is fun even with randoms
It just gets annoying that one game you can lose by 40 due to lack of IQ from teammates then the next you can go up 30 to 5 on a team and not finish because they quit. The results are too random. I should be assured that I am matched with other decent players.
They have to do what every other game does and segregate players with different skill.
I understand the issue with 2k tho. Dudes have 98 ovr and be TRASH so how do you segregate off ovr? You CANT so you segregate off skill but if you faithfully do that ppl will just bring 60 ovrs in the recLast edited by Housh123; 10-17-2020, 08:08 PM.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
I avg 6 ast/game as a Center (no fro tho). I predict we'll see more Jokic type players in the real NBA. Too many players in 2K don't understand that the C on defense usually wants to camp in the paint and help on drives. If you give the Center the ball on offense, it makes the defending C have to focus more on him (bringing him out of the paint if he the C has any midrange game) plus the Center can set up better passing angles if he has the ball. Can't tell you how many people have said "give the PG the ball what are you doin bruhhh just set picks..." or "what are you doing dribbling you're a center". They need to look up NBA history. Sabonis, C Webb, Divac, Bogut, Jokic and plenty more all could set up their teammates and pass from the high post.Iv run C last couple years and in 2k19 when I was on PS4 late cycle i averaged a triple double at pure post scorer. Theres no reason not to average 5+ ast a game at C. Literally no reason. The oops are too easy and the passing after rebounds is too easy. Iv never understood why every C isnt a great passer. If you get 20 boards why ruin them by going 5/17 shooting?
FG these guys accidently invited me to their party during a Rec game and hearing these dudes talk was just hilarious. Sounded like 2K is their only basketball experience ever. I was busting their C's *** with some basic moves and they were clowning him. It was some funny stuff. Called me a "bot". [emoji38]Last edited by The 24th Letter; 10-17-2020, 09:30 PM.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
They should match off record mainly. That's the biggest indicatorof where you are. That way the bums get matched up with and play against the bums. Then the try hards can play agains each other.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
If they would make their teamgrade system more logical, you could base the matchmaking on it.
Sadly as it is now, there is no other way but overall to split people on.
Unless they would finally split the stats per different playerbuild, then you could build it off stats

I think teammate is a good idea. All they really need to do is weight per position more.
Setting a pick and boxing a person out are cool, but they aren't really things you should get a teammate grade for. Now, if someone gets a rebound because of your boxing out or if your pick seems to lead to a score, then sure give them a tiny boost.
Imagine this sequence, which isn't that rare especially in 3s. C Contests shot, C gets rebound, C passes out to PG for assist. Insane amount of teammate gained for doing what sometimes amounts to standing in place, and I think there's even a button you can press to outlet without even seeing people. haha.
As well as they need to uncap the teammate grade. It should have like a S grade or something haha, but it should be really hard to achieve, even for people who know how to build it, but the number itself should be unlimited (imagine it listing a number also.) I think L*ve had that and that was their actual leaderboard. haha.
Then they need more stuff for guard, like a pass the ball and get it back bonus for the first time each possession you pass the ball and receive it back (that is a pretty rare thing in random online play and it proves your team is probably working well. And while people could cheese it, the people who actually pass already, it would be good for showing the guys who don't pass or who once they do pass they never get the ball back.
Also make things more situational if possible. For instance, they punish you hard for a turnover even though they don't do points off turnover anymore. However, it should be situational in that a turnover is always bad, but if like one person has lagged out and someone keeps calling for the ball and not passing it then jacking a shot or getting ripped, that should devastate their teammate grade. There should be things that it's like YOU HAVE COMMITTED A GRIEVOUS ACT this is your first warning, the next time you will be removed from the game, and we could help them come up with common situations that need to be prevented (like the one I listed.)
TLDR, with some simple AI or way to comb thru this data, creating something to tell how good of a teammate someone actually is should not be hard. OR assign longer strings of events teammate grade values and make them more valuable. Basically, turn everything into numbers and 'add it up.' Numbers that encapsulate basketball on a more nuanced level, like helping on D, gang rebounding, making the right pass...
2k there is money to be made! Happy people spend more money.

Been playing "Basketball Godz" today. Such a corny name, lol
I wouldn't mind a lobby like this with random matchmaking though. Maybe next gen.Comment

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.
Yeah... They have matchmaking single sessions ans it works beautifully. Id wager plenty of people would play park still if it was a single court in matchmaking. That way you could cut down on all the useless memory that the neighborhood uses.Comment
