When I think about it, Take 2 approaches 2K the same way they do GT:A Online and Red Dead 2 Online. A super flashy style with lots of goodies designed to drive microtransactions.....unfortunately it also suffers from similar balance issues, semi stale modes, and lack of depth.

I wish Take 2 would care more for RDR2 online. That Halloween pass was a joke....Comment

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
The cheesers have won the war for a while now. Notice Mike Wang doesn't even post on OS forums anymore like he did in the past. They are serving a different audience now. They make more money from that audience too so i understand it from a business perspective.
Our only hope is that with two versions of 2K21, one of them will be more tailored to a SIM audience.Lineup:

SG) '95-'96 Michael Jordan
SF) Sapphire Scottie Pippen

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
There's a common lesson in here --- pursuing something for the cash and cash only will only go so far. Of course money is a big incentive but so is the pursuit of making something excellent/great/innovating. 2K has kinda fizzled in the last 2-3 yrs as far as real innovation imo. Too scared to try new things and piss off the arcade masses. We'll see in next-gen though.Comment

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
In hindsight...it now makes wonder when I played people who nailed an ungodly of perfect releases in REC, I have question whether or not they were using a modded controller. I never really thought it was humanly possible to hit that many green releases under different conditions. When a person is just RUNNING at me, I pause to see they jump for the block. Dudes be pulling like they expect the shot to go in.Comment

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
Why shouldn't I? I expect a realistic environment, not realistic playing humans. 2K controls the environment/physics/how successful actions are rewarded or punished. I expect 2K to not sell their soul to casuals. This game is in desperate need of competition. Hopefully EA gets their head out of their azzes and NBA Live comes back just for that reason, to remind 2K who they were and that they can get knocked off because they knocked off the top dog. If you think 2K gives one ounce of crap about the Sim community you're mistaken. They've gone all in, gone full-arcade. Can't even respect this company anymore.
You're complaint is about going ONLINE to play in REC which is notorious for casuals and you expect SIM basketball? Brother you got it wrong. That mode is catered towards it crowd, THE CASUAL CROWD. Young kids playing with friends.Comment

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
2k could easily cater the game to play more realistically but they don't because it is not only the casuals that want to shoot bombs but the players that have mastered the game and make those bombs consistently. Blaming everything that plays unrealistically on the so called "casual online" player base and not holding 2k accountable for not creating a more realistic environment to compete in is a cop out and shows me you have no idea what you are talking about.Comment

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
It is hilarious that you think these online modes are only kids and casuals. You do realize that the most competitive people will ALWAYS choose to play against other humans right? And I hope you are aware but probably delusional to the fact a good online player will ALWAYS beat a good offline only player. Why because they have to master the mechanics of the game to beat the competition. You would get your *** handed to you playing against these players that all play online. Yes there are kids and casuals but that is only one segment of the player base.

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
I am a basketball purist and a college basketball coach, but at the same time I am highly competitive and a very good gamer. I used to spit hate all the time against 2k and how unrealistic it played but everyone would still defend it. Finally I decided that I would just get good at the "GAME" and damper my expectations of a true simulation. Now I have turned into a monster because not only have I mastered every cheese move, speed boost, build choice, and jump shot, but I also possess very high basketball IQ and gamer skill. I shoot over 80% on 3s and can just absolutely not be guarded by anyone I have come up against. It is to the point where it is almost boring for me to play many times and I have to fight my concentration because it gets too easy to score.
That is absolutely not realistic but the point is you can't blame the game playing an arcade version of basketball on the "casual online" crowd. It is the try-hards and sweats like me that want to be the best at whatever they choose to play that will find any advantage to win. Because if I don't someone else will. The game needs to be created in such a way that true to life strategies become the best way to win. Until that happens it will be what it is because competitive players will always find the best ways to win, and everyone else will find the easiest way to win but be a notch below.Comment

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
Good for you, but I really dont want to learn some of These mechanics. i want to Play (some what close to) Real Ball and i want that this is a viable tactics. instead the game gets more unrealistic each year to a point that we have Problems recruiting people to our online League as 90% of the Player base is not interested in Basketball or the nba anymore and just plays this game as it is another online "aaa" "competitive" game like fortnite, call of duty and so on.Comment

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
Pick up a basketball and go outside and play if you want real ball.
This is a videogame. People enjoy it, hence the record sales.
Imagine whining on a forum for 4-5 years in a row because a videogame isnt catering to your specific needs.
Play something else, don’t buy the game, go play real basketbal.
I bet all you whiners are still gonna buy it every year and still gonna whine about the game by the time my grandchildren are ready to game.
