Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
I've never played an organized game of ball in my life. My layup is non existent. I can't dribble but with one hand. My jumper looks like Kendrick Perkins freethrows. I haven't even watched ball seriously since like 06 when Dirk made it to the finals the first time.
But ive learned i have a natural feel for the game through playing 5 on 5 competitively. I wish i woulda played growing up, id probably be even better at 2k.
I've said it before. In the entirety of my online experience with 2k, I've never finished the year under .500.
Most of it is due to the fact i play with at level teammates, sometimes they're better than me. Most people i play with are at LEAST as good as i am.
But EVERYONE i play with will tell you that i play team ball.
That extra swing to the weakside? No matter what position i play, I'll see the shooter.
Put the ball in my hands and most of the time i make the right play.
Only reason i dont play PG more is I've never been a SHOOTING PG. I can score, but I'm not looking to hang 30 at the 1. I'm far too passive for that.
Actually some of my best games I've ran point forward at the 3 or 4.
But i play defense first, always have. That's something that can't be taught, that's instinct.
The fact that ANYONE on this board can try and dissect any one else's game without playing with them is not contributing. We're supposed to be lifting each other up here, not tearing them down. I've learned that over the years here.
I agree, the main focus of the board should be giving the SIMNATION a platform and a voice. Too much complaining gets the devs disinterested so they don't post but around launch.
I've had a few exchanges with Czar here and on YT. Always wished i could just sit him down and pick his brain on the mic. (He never accepted my PSN request... Lolol)
I'm long winded but i want to innovate and see things progress. This game has been stale for YEARS to me and i kept playing it!
I've said it before... Next gen has the opportunity to reset the standard and change our perception of what a sports game can truly be.
But unless we band together and REALLY try and highlight what 2k does well, and be CONSTRUCTIVE in our criticism, its going to be more and more and more of the same every year.
Where's the OS pride and comradery? SIMNATION should be one voice, one message.
Let's get some assists, not TOs or techs. I want to see some extra passes, just cuz its the right play, not cuz it helps our numbers or our teammate grade! Lol

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
I mean, if we're bring honest there isn't really any feedback here. Picture yourself as a dev, what would you get from this thread exactly? "Make it more like real life basketball?" I mean its cool to vent and all but thats pretty much where we are at here.
Its kind of devolving into a "old man yells at cloud" situation here...occasionally upped to repeat the same 'ol
"Those darn kids and their Snapchaps Forcenight!"
A bunch of typing about how 2K lost their way and wishing it was like it was. Sim this, sim that, but where's the support for the sticky at the top of the forum promoting sim channels on Twitter and YouTube? Where's the community getting together? That's the part that kills me.
I've had a lot of fun in Pro Am this year, AND Park for that matter. I also "bought" a Tim Duncan jersey at the "NBA Store" with my VC. Call it what you want, Its a video game man...I play for fun. I also play 3 times a week and half of these uppity "You play a game mode in a video game so you don't know basketball" guys can't guard me in real life [emoji38] That's not a shot at you FG, just that mentality in general.
I play for fun too, but to me realism is fun. I also intend to start wagering and doing esports, make some side money. So why wouldn't I want to promote a more realistic game, a game that rewards actual basketball iq? All these bums are making money off this game because they are the loudest noise in social media that pollute 2K's feedback channels, and they have dumbed down this game with their trash feedback. If anything, you guys should be amplifying this thread instead of trashing it lmao if you care at all about sim basketball.Comment

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
I'm all for supporting the sim community. But I disagree on the 'feedback' part. If I were a 2K dev and saw this thread, maybe I'd actually get it through my head that social media isn't their masters. This thread in and of itself is feedback to 2K devs so that maybe they realize they're going in the wrong direction if they want to call it a basketball simulation. But it's not something to apologize for. There's plenty of threads on here that go over the specifics of 'why it's not realistic'.

They are making more money.
Thats always the right direction from a company standpoint lol.
The devs can either do what they are asked to do or they will be replaced by others that have no issue doing what is being asked.
The best you can do is hope that these devs leave and start on a new game that fits what they wanna do but quite frankly its much harder then you think.

I just want a basketball game to resemble/reward basketball, regardless of the mode it's in.
There's literally thousands of other video games to do backflips, ride skateboards, flashing lights raining virtual money on you, shoot fireballs, wtf ever.
And yet when we say we want less of that in the only basketball game, we're "whining"
Sigh.

> Wanting a company to actually gaf about at least trying to accurately represent basketball.

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
The NBA is literally struggling with this right now. The league continuously boasts about being incredibly popular on social media, their players being marketable brands off the court, and how much interest they draw during their off season. But less people are watching the actual games every year.
The cool thing about 2K (for me) has always been the developers doing the actual work. To me, their commitment to the game of basketball is obvious and the fact they are able to give us this product on a yearly dev cycle despite a money grubbing publisher is somewhat amazing to me.
I admit this is probably the disconnect b/n me and people providing feedback, though. I've gotten into the Rec/Neighborhood the last few years, but I still really enjoy playing MyLeague every year too. It's not a perfect experience but I can tinker with it enough to get as close to actual basketball as I need it to be. I understand for a lot of people, that doesn't really feel possible anymore. It's not how I feel but I would never hold anyone that feels that way.
I get the frustration from a lot of people on these boards. Seeing a company take seemingly every opportunity (no matter how "immoral") to monetize their product is a tough thing to endure. But unless an independent development company decides to make a basketball game (SuperMegaBaseball style), we have to make do with 2K.
And I mean, as far as triple AAA sports games goes, they're still the best around, right?Comment

Definitely look at the Madden community compared to the NBA 2k community they wish they had as many features in their career and franchise modes like we do with Myleague and MyCareer.Comment

It's the most frustrating thing as a basketball purist having my gameplay experience being dictated by people that don't even want to really play basketball. This year showed me a lot about this consumer base. The amount of people that cried saying the game was too hard at launch and wanted it to be easy told me that 2K is no longer serving a basketball community.
It's a gaming player base that just so happens to be playing a basketball game. They want video game tactics to work, not basketball principles. You have Fortnite and Call of Duty players coming over to 2K and dominating because video game tactics rule above everything. 2K now serves a gaming community and not a basketball community.Lineup:

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
I agree with you 100%, but the sad reality is that most of 2K's consumer base aren't truly basketball fans. Sure they may watch the NBA and play a little in their backyard, but they don't truly understand the game in its purest form.

Now this doesn't mean people can't have fun with it; I think what it does mean is that if you're a basketball fan that's frustrated with the way the direction 2K is going, it might be time to take stock and ask yourself if it's really worth a new purchase every year anymore or if you'd be better served sticking with an older iteration that better suits you.Last edited by MrWrestling3; 11-06-2020, 10:40 PM.Comment

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball
I think now we are in a situation where VC should consider creating 2 different tittles, one for the more hardcore NBA lovers (like me) and another one for the MyPlayer and more casual/arcade gamers... I would probably purchase both, but at the moment, to me is less and less acceptable that balances and tuning needed for cheaters with modded controllers and/or cheesy MyPlayers with 99 overall and plenty of HOF badges in a more casual setup is affecting my enjoyment of core NBA gameplay with "more human" NBA regular players...Ignorance is Bliss...Comment

Curious on your logic about what makes someone a hardcore nba lover.
