Let me preface this by saying I have nothing against the 2K Dev team; I think alot of the things we are not happy with are the result of choices that come from higher ups in Take 2.That being said...

Unfortunately it's not one of those things we can't control. Besides server costs, they want people playing the most current iteration because they want as many people possible tempted into buying VC to "Keep up", as it were. That probably wouldn't be a wide spread thing in older iterations.

In a way, it's a microcosm of the current model: We want you right here right now in the environment you're most likely to spend more money in.....if the monetized modes are not your thing, then you'll get a little attention in hopes of getting a game purchase out of you but nothing more.

offline user vs user is the way. with tweaked sliders and playbooks you still can get an amazing ball simulation in my mind. I haven't touched any online fancy stuff or fantasy mode in years and very happy not to.

You need to realize how lucky you are if you can get a good user v user game. haha. Friends who wanna use playbooks n stuff? I can't imagine.

I think in life I've lost once to a friend of a friend and I was just clowning. I thought I could turn it on at the end but I barely lost, and I was like reeematch and he was like naw. haha. Was still fun.

I had to calculate how I played to make sure I didn't turn people off to getting absolutely destroyed. Obviously, everything is better offline. Pretty sure they even do that 2k leeg stuff in person right? Night n day, but chances of having people who are capable of it? Slimm.

I remember getting out the multi tap and having slumber parties way back, trying to get everyone on, or Dreamcast or n64( was it?) w/ the 4 inputs haha. Games like Mario Kart are better for that stuff.

Maybe I need to move to Italy.

2K is a huge game with a bunch of different kinds of players. I've been back in the "My" community for less than ayear and am a part of several discord groups who run sim Pro Am leagues, H2H's etc....and this is a transisiton year..

I've come to the conclusion a lot of guys are just content with the constant 2K business economics discussions (which oddly enough act like advertising is a foreign concept) and state of the unions tbh lol. I stopped expecting a mode where you can play as Benny the Bull to cater to me a while ago. Even though I still enjoy a Park game or two.

I hope next gen doesn't restrict your ability to carve out a niche for yourself...and if anything expands it with more options.

hof team up is the best bball IMO, but you basically need your own five or to be solo. People can fit you in, but if you got a couple friends, it's tough.

But yea that's the sort of thing people should look for if they want actual bball. I'd argue (altho honestly I haven't gone in on it in a few years) the best players are there, too. Stick skills and Bball IQ.

The kinda games you actually get a little pumped before.

I'm in kind of similar situation, having long since come to terms with the realization that "My Whatever" isn't going to give me the experience I'm looking for.

At this point all I'm really asking for is to be able to turn off all the bells and whistles and play some simple, reasonably authentic basketball offline without having to spend time editing, testing,or downloading all sorts of things.

Sadly 2K isn’t about nba 5 on 5 I honestly feel most people who have the game never used a nba player or team. Reasons like that is why we won’t get a Kobe mode like Jordan. 2K would break the bank making a basketball GTA where people can create players and do crazy things.

Miss the days where nba 2K main focus was NBA basketball.

                  3pt cheese again

Just make contested shots miss. That too much to ask? Would fundamentally change the game from cheese to sim. This isn't that difficult 2K...

Well honestly? In real Basketball (or the Real nba) the difference between open and contested shots is no where near as high as in nba 2k, where open shots can go in way above 50% and contested shots go in below 10%.that is unrealistic Stuff! especially the Part with hitting so many open shots.

there need to better more depth into the shot contesting system where its not so simple to get high contest % even if you very close to shooter and it take high level of commitment to completely take away shooting option.
But then also shooting must have degree of difficulty in execution and have some level of uncertainty like it is in real bball games.

I watched the vid; while I personally think it doesn't even look fun, unfortunately that is the experience most of the fan base wants.

It's the way the online play in most games goes...most people want a fast paced experience where they can just hop on and make highlight plays with the lowest effort possible by spamming the current meta.In many ways it is often more about seeking an immediate dopamine rush reward and self validation rather than the type of satisfaction one would get from seeing the results of investing hours upon hours of hard work into a more involved activity.

They need to either give us our own little "Simworld" where we can have different online communities using custom sliders for each online mode or each online mode needs a regular world and a custom world. For example in Park, I don't know how hard it would be to just have a City dedicated to one slider set.

I think they owe us that much. The game looks the same online. There's nothing unique about how anyone plays. Give us online communities where we can dictate whether you can play with more than 3 badges, or any badges at all in a game. Rec looks like an absolute mess. What's fun about playing against 4 Steph Currys and Anthony Davis?

If you want realistic basketball...put down the controller and go outside. It's a video game...have fun.
