I think it only works if he's the original owner. As long as the previous owner didn't register the device, he might be fine. It doesn't hurt to go to the website and try to get a replacement under warranty. If anything, it kind of works out for him.

He is right! My replacement from Microsoft is heading back now! I went to My Devices, started a repair from there, and they never asked for a receipt or anything. I got it straight from Microsoft, however! They should all be under warranty, since the system hasn't been out for a year yet!Comment

The interesting thing being even if you end up spending 10 bucks on expedited shipping, if you're getting back a new unit (which you should it seems from others' experiences with this) you're basically getting another free controller/cord outta the swap. I think of it as a bit of a compensation for the time lost I suppose.Comment

Re: Nba2k22 turning off the console (Xbox series X)
Nope! It's actually suggested you don't use the original box at all, and to not even send back anything but the affected thing (in this case, send back the console itself but feel free to keep the power cord and controller as they don't want them in console unit returns). I had some styrofoam and packaging I was able to put together into a quality box to make sure it shipped well, but I shipped literally only the console unit itself. Arose no issues, and my replacement is already on its way from a different location.

When you describe what is happening, choose" Xbox Shut off And Wont Turn On" and then describe what is happening with 2k.PSN ID: Filth_Flannigan

I am pulling for you! If you paid for Expedited shipping, it should be around 10 days or less. Probably less if you chose "My Console turned off and will not turn on"PSN ID: Filth_Flannigan

Re: Nba2k22 turning off the console (Xbox series X)
Yeah to give you an idea of my experience, I gave it to a UPS driver who was delivering to me that day on Friday the 1st, it moved a bit that night (to KY I think?) then did nothing until Monday where it made it to El Paso by Tuesday morning. I think because I chose the "turns off" option (and then detailed what was happening of shutting off during gameplay) I had just a 24hr processing time where they went from saying it's at the center Tues night and will be processed soon to saying my device had shipped by 4PM Wednesday. I checked the tracking number and it was a UPS Ground from Kentucky which started moving that night and is already in my 2nd most local UPS branch this afternoon. Essentially a guaranteed delivery tomorrow (exactly one week later) at which point fingers crossed it's not a faulty Xbox. Hoping you have a similar turnaround!Comment

Re: Nba2k22 turning off the console (Xbox series X)
It took 13 days from the night I mailed off my broke Xbox for Microsoft to get a new console to my doorstep but this new one hasn't shutdown once in 2 days of heavy playing across all the modes that were consistently shutting off my old Xbox.
First year consoles just aren't the most reliable products, regardless of the company that makes them. My PS4 stopped working within its first year, way back in 2014.
Thankfully both my Series X and PS4 died while still under warranty.
Don't wait for a software patch if you're having this issue. Take advantage of your hardware replacement plan while it's still a free option.Comment

Re: Nba2k22 turning off the console (Xbox series X)
My Xbox updated this morning as shipped, it was actually just them printing the shipping label, then this evening updated to officially shipped! It is coming from Louisville, Kentucky, so most likely a new Xbox. At worst, its a refurbished, but I think refurbished and repairs ship out of Texas.
Edit: it will be here tomorrow, Friday! Woop! That is basically a 7 day turnaround, that is great!
For those that got a NEW Xbox Shipped to you after a warranty claim, they dont ship an entire new Xbox Right? Just a new console only without a controller? It would be sweet to get a new one in the box with controller. I actually shipped mine in the original box, then put that in another box. I didn't care about losing my original box, but I like to display them in my classroom. My students love them lol! Right now it is just all my PlayStation Boxes. And I do want to add, my PS5 hasn't had any of these issues. Never has shut off, but I am not playing NBA2k22 on it either. My Xbox Series X never shut off once, until I started playing NBA2k22 lol.PSN ID: Filth_Flannigan

Re: Nba2k22 turning off the console (Xbox series X)
Mine keeps happening ever since the patch. Guess I have to stop playing. I guess I should read the thread to see what happened to everyone else's but mine freezes up, goes black screen, when I turn it on it the sounds turn on but no picture. Only thing that works is swapping my Series X to a new tv, then back and it works.Comment
