Re: Nba2k22 turning off the console (Xbox series X)

Just to expand, I can play every other game, including 2k21 next gen and Cold War without those issues. This recent 2k22 patch has given me these freeze issues after park games where I can't reset my console, properly, turn it off, etc. Once that happens I can't even use it, but I swap tvs and it works fine on the new TV, and then fine back on my original. I have no idea why, or if that's similar to most here. But knowing the warranty deadline, I wouldn't mind sending it back if this is a consistent or concerning issue, it's only been since today so I have no idea.

Re: Nba2k22 turning off the console (Xbox series X)

Alright so after an evening of playing, 4+ straight Rec games and no crash (to the dashboard, let alone turning off) and none of the issues I had previously whatsoever.

My replacement Xbox is a refurbished unit (April date) in mint condition I received today on Friday, exactly one week after shipping it away.

While this somewhat means I won't have much use in visiting this thread anymore, I plan to include a small timeline of my friend's experience returning his unit (which he began the process of tonight after increasingly frequent crashes of his own and beginning to have the Xbox shut off during Rec games) alongside some slightly more long-term updates.

One thing I found interesting is it appears that if he gets it shipped Saturday morning (via dropoff at a UPS Store location) the UPS time and cost calculator says he has a guaranteed Tuesday delivery to El Paso on the expedited 2 Day Air label they give, which makes me think (since I advised him on what to say describing the issue in the repair order) that he MIGHT be able to get the replacement shipped back to Wednesday, which would mean a Friday delivery potentially? At least based on us living near each other. Would be unique to have essentially a 6-day turnaround but it seems somewhat possible.

I got my replacement unit yesterday. I played 4 Rec Games, 3 Old Gym Games, 3 Chris Brickley Games, 3 Pro Am games, I also ran around the neighborhood doing quests for an hour, and so far so good. It never shut off once. I couldn't do any of these things before I sent it in for replacement.

For those who haven't sent their box in yet, but are still having issues... I ran across this on Reddit and there are a few comments that are saying the solution is working: https://www.reddit.com/r/NBA2k/comme...ut_down_issue/

After being unable to finish a rec game for a week because of my series x shutting down, it has finally been solved. I haven't had my system crash since following this guide. Note: This ONLY works if you are in the Xbox Insider Program.

If you are in the Xbox Insider Program, go to the insider app and check if you are in the update beta. When you get to this menu, make sure to click on the OMEGA update, which has the least amount of bugs. After selecting this option, you will need to restart your console and download a new (technically older) update.

When you load up 2k, you will need to adjust your some of your settings, but nothing else should be impacted.

My series x hasn't crashed since. Hope this helps.

There are 2 or 3 comments saying it fixed it for them. Please if you are still dealing with the shut down, try it and report back!

I hope that I didn't wait too long. They're only giving me option for an "In warranty, same unit repair" service, and the only reason closest to what everyone is saying is "Will not turn on". Selected "Other", and I still got the "Same unit repair" option.

EDIT: Well, the shipping label is for El Paso, so I guess I'm fine. I went ahead and bit the bullet to future proof myself against any games that might inadvertently duplicate this condition in the future.

Very interesting. I already sent mine back so I can't test, but I was in the Insider Program., although I'm not sure if I had the Omega update.

I thought someone stated that they wasn't in the Insider Program, and they were still getting the crashes. The Omega level is just the most stable of the beta builds before it's rolled out to the general public.

Yes, I'm sure the majority of people aren't in the program.

Maybe MS pushed a recent insider update that at least helps with this. Sounds like that might be the case.

Really hope it didn't have to come to this. But seems like the only option is to trade it in for another one.

                      Join the party, lol!

Honestly, I was hoping for the same thing. Dusted off my OG XB1, so I can still play current gen NBA 2K22 while my Series X is gone. Look on the bright side, when the real next-gen titles start dropping, at least you won't be punished for basically being an early adopter whose console is no longer in warranty.

I joined the send-in-for-repair crew after seeing this thread. I was skeptical with enough folks on Reddit saying it didn't work out for them, but seems like just about everyone that sent in their console on this thread got one back that fixed the issue.

I didn't do expedited shipping, so I figure i'll be waiting a couple of weeks at least. If a new or refurbished console doesn't fix it and/or there isn't a patch that fixes it by the time I receive mine, I'll just sell the console and eat the money lost on 2k. It's pretty much one of three reasons I have the thing and arguably the most important of the three.

This applies to people in EU. My console was sent to Frankfurt, Germany (Im not from Germany) and it seems the *same* unit was sent back (on MS site it still appears with the same serial number). It has spent around 3 hours in "proccesing" before the return label was produced. Suppose to be 11-12 days turnaround according to UPS estimated delivery. Hoping for the best, but preparing for worst (like sending it in once more [emoji2357])

I'm in the same boat. I sent mine yesterday from Denmark to Germany and with the low stock that we have in Europe, I'm probably receiving the same unit back. Let's see what happens.

Fortunately I have also a Series S that works fine with NBA 2k22 next gen.
