    Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD

Earned team captain status almost halfway into my first season here with the Pistons. Have already cleared out the playbook and inserted alot of the vannwolfhawk plays that work well with the AI, and now the AI is scoring both with me on the court and during simulation much better.

Cade Cunningham will be returning to the lineup soon after a broken nose hiatus. I've given all of Corey Josephs minutes to Saban Lee/Frank Jackson (who I both really like playing with. Lee has exceptional ball handling and Frank can hit it from deep and yam it down on people). I'm struggling to get Bey going but getting good contributions from Diallo.

For my first trade suggestion, i've targeted Seth Curry. Excited to improve this Pistons team. I plan on trying for Johnathan Isaac as my 2nd target as I don't think there is a single other defender in the league close to him besides Giannis. He will be the Giannis/KD/Simmons/Bron stopper. In Free Agency my main target will be Zach Lavine.

Nah, didn't get a chance to get any boosts from Halloween, I guess I was having a weird muscle memory day yesterday, though on Reddit people have noticed an input lag, I'm gonna test it out again in a bit later today and see though was mad weird.

I'm in the process of playing games to get traded and have seen people say sim each game but I was wondering does sim games mess up anything as far as rookie season awards? rookie stats? All star or anything?

Also wonder this as well. I plan on getting the game later this month and would like to know. I don't want to play 5-10+ games waiting for a trade

I know a lot of things are tied into Quests. I don't play online and don't like how some Quests are tied into Online games. I just want to be able to adjust Playbook, influence trades/FA, and adjust Minutes. Last year it was tied into games played and if you simmed games, it affected the game counter. Last year, I played the first 100 games of career and never unlocked them. I don't want to do that this year.

I haven't simmed any game yet, but unlocked adjusting playbook/influence trades/minutes just recently around ~40 games played (basically if you become a All-Star in the first season, it tells you that in the quest mission), I also think there's a way you can go up by 25 points in the game, and sim and still receive VC which probably wouldn't count against the game counter either.

                Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD

Welcome to Detroit, Seth Curry! Cade Cunningham missed about a month with a broken nose and returned just in time for his new backcourt mate Seth Curry to join him.

                Out: Hamidou Diallo, Frank Jackson
                In: Seth Curry, Furkan Korkmaz

(Honestly sad about losing Diallo and Jackson as they were both really fun to use in team takeover, but Seth has been great in the few games so far)

Unfortunately that lasted only one game as Cade Cunningham immediately went down again for 6-8 weeks with elbow tendonitis. Cory Joseph has NOT been good and Saban Lee just can't handle starter minutes at this point although I like him off the bench. I've decided that with my final trade suggestion (Johnathan Isaac did not go through) I need a more serviceable PG off the bench. After searching through options I decided on Coby White and this was the result after a couple games -

                Out: Saban Lee, Killian Hayes
In: Coby White, Alex Caruso (!!)

Caruso/Coby/Curry backcourt should be holding it down until Cade gets back!

Does anybody know if there will be a Thanksgiving event like the Halloween event? I missed out on the Halloween trick or treat event. I later learned that people received VC and other perks during the event. I don't want to miss out again. It'd be nice if they had something like a find the turkeys in the City type deal. LOL.

Finally got around to starting MyCareer. Got it on sale and wanted to wait until after 12/15 to start to see if real NBA trades would occur. But knowing that by mid-season in MyCareer there are crazy trades, felt might as well just start it now. I usually do a Center/PF build who is usually a rim running paint defender. As someone who doesn't like to buy VC, being a center is the easiest to start out from because it's the quickest to get immediate impact just by using natural instincts. But, I somewhat switched it up and made a undersized do-it-all PF. Since I only do 1 MyCareer a year, I wanted to do a little bit of everything. But, still don't like the MyCareer format of starting at 60 OVR. I don't mind the grind, heck once I get to the point where I'm done "grinding", I lose interest. But, I wish they took the NBA Live's The One mode approach of starting above 70 OVR with near maxed Physicals. Started and felt like I needed so many badges just so I can play how I want too.

Doing the College then G-League path to get the 4+ badge points and 5% progression. Being that I'm defensive first, I chose Texas Tech. I finished the college portion last night. First game, I struggled offensively. But the last 5 were better, especially when I realized I had to create a dunk style to dunk lol. My college team felt so undersized and missed easy looks around the rim. The final game against Villanova and Denzel Pryor was crazy. They basically made him a more athletic KD. A slither of space and he knocked down shots and could get to the rim at ease. Close game through half time, then when I got subbed out in second half, we were down 10 with 5 mins left. But, luckily I got Pryor on a cold streak and I made a couple threes to unlock team takeover with 3 mins left down 6 and that changed the game. Team takeover with that college low difficulty, is easy and it lasted the last 3 minutes of game.
I'm just hoping that my G-League teammates are a little better

Being that the game is probably on Rookie/Pro for College and G-League, I would figure that they wouldn't be as useless as they are in MyCareer lol. Literally missing 10 ft open shots on the regular. Felt I had to play hero ball just to keep us in games

I completed the G-League path after completing the college path with my PF. The G-League felt a whole lot easier than college. My teammates there seemed a little more competent and everytime I got simmed out, our lead increased. Plus it didn't feel like there were any souped up players in the G-League like there was for every college game. Out of the 5 G-League teams, only one team had a player that was on the level as the College team stars. Likely the first pick to the Pistons, but plan on requesting a trade asap to the Blazers.

I'm probably not going to focus much on the Fashion/Music Quests.

Casual basketball fan, picked this up on sale.

Am I missing something. I dont know enough about basketball to be a GM, I just want a player career.

Cant I just play ?? I have been on this game for about an hour. I have had one practice and one college game. I get drafted. Finally I can start playing!!!

Nope. I have to jog to a meeting with my agent when I come out that, I now have to jog across town again for a meeting with the coach.

Does it ever end ? Is there a point where you just play the games / go to practice, with the odd cut scene ? If I have to have these meetings, why dont they come to me ??

                                Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD

I played up to the point where my PF got the starting spot for the Pistons to unlock the trade storyline. I had just played using 5 minute quarters to just get through the games as quickly as possible. I just focused on doing the practice drills after each game to work on badges. Then, I just simmed each game until the trade storyline was completed. I thought it might just take about 15 or so games simmed, but ended up being over 20 or so games, I had to sim just to get traded. I requested a trade to the Portland Trailblazers. I feel like I can just slide into that PF spot and fill that need of a 3 & D wing for them. Played the first game with them and had a great game. CJ had a bad game, but Dame had a good game.

One thing, I didn't expect was how quickly you unlock some of these perks via quests. I'm talking about the ability to influence trades, playbooks, rotation. For me, those are the main things I play most of my rookie seasons in the past just to unlock. Those 3 perks really make the mode more fun being an offline player and give it more longevity. Typically in the past, I just play rookie season until I unlock those perks and upgrade my player to a certain point where I'm comfortable until to "lead" my own team. Last year, my file was corrupted. So, I never unlocked them. So now, it's relieving knowing that, it is already unlocked. The only thing else is the ability to influence Free Agency. But, I'm not concerned about that this season. One, I'm already 30+ games into the season and seriously doubt I make the All-Star team. Two, I don't plan on resigning with the Blazers. I chose the Blazers because I wanted to go to a team that needed a PF and I could just focus on developing my player. Usually, I like signing with a team that is up and coming and with a good #2. I have no idea what that team is. But, I usually like using the trade influencer to trade for a good generated 2k rookie. So now, I will just play on HOF just so I can quickly progress my player to a point where I feel comfortable enough to be a #1 and get a max deal. Right now, my player is just a 3 & D guy. My build has the potential to have some ball-handling and finishing to be a 3 level scorer. I'm far from that. Feels like I need a ton of badges and VC, but playing at HOF should speed that up. I didn't bother much with the music or fashion storyline yet, with now to get more VC.
