Re: 2K24 Graphics comparison vs 2K23

I wish I hadn’t read this thread because now it’s all I can see when I play. I hate that the courts look so matte and dull. I am not sure I would have noticed had I not seen this.

Think this is something they will patch or was it toned down like this on purpose?

Re: 2K24 Graphics comparison vs 2K23

When I read these things I think I'm in an eternal loop. Courts with few reflections in 2023/24? This is unacceptable, same horrendous work on jerseys in NBA Eras.

Seriously friends, I don't know how you take this. In 20 years, this is the first time that I didn't buy a 2K game at launch, and honestly, every time I come here, the desire to buy it only gets worse. It's sad to see what this franchise has become.

For me, right now, the positive is just Photo Mode, this feature apears amazing...

Its curious that some of you believe 2k can fix this via patch. Guys, 2K has NEVER fixed any graphic options, reflections, jerseys or sweat, in his entire history.

        He can't fix this...

I just played my first game. 24 is dull and a letdown as a result. 2K23 colours popped a lot more and it looked better. This is too dark.

I would take lesser visual pop and a locked 60fps at all times or a performance mode at 120fps

Those are far more important in any game. Specially a sports game

This! Last year the game was not enjoyable playing with broadcast cam because of the constant frame stuttering

Visuals aren't all that important to me but I do think 2k23 looked better. I'm on PS5 and always would play on Broadcast cam and personally, I never noticed any framerate issues last year.

Doesn't ruin this game for me, just my observation

Can you guys tell me how to turn off that awful cutscene when shooting a 3pt shot?

Also which broadcast camera do you use and do you modify it in any way?

I find the default bc to have issues shooting 3pt shots from corners

Thankfully I get no frame rate stutter in 23 and some guys here say they’re getting it with 24 anyway. So I doubt that has to do with it. That must be related to something else that links the two games. Or maybe the matte hardwood is an attempt to mitigate it. Someone in another thread said it looks like they’re rendering the wood at a lower res than the players when you focus into it.

This pic really stood out to me. The hardwood makes it look like an older mobile game or something.

I’ve tried to brush this off but man it really does bother me…. I wonder if this was an art decision, or just an odd oversight that could be fixed in a patch?

You may not have noticed it but it was definitely there, and it’s pretty obvious they toned down the court for that exact reason

I’ve noticed that on action cut scenes it seems like they move at a higher frame rate then regular gameplay.

Re: 2K24 Graphics comparison vs 2K23

This is insane! Looks like it’s not just the courts. Look at these face scan comparisons. 2K23 textures, reduction and grading is vastly better in the editor. 2K24 looks much more matte and dulled and overall just more cartoony.

I noticed this in other YouTube videos where players lack detail and sharpness in 24 when in the player editor, when compared to 23. But I assumed it was a YT thing.

I’m assuming this is an editor issue because during gameplay, aside from the lower court renderings, the actual player graphics seem about identical when you take out of account the darker lighting etc. now.

Looks like 2K is trying to save some cpu power or something by downgrading graphics in some ways (courts, player editor screen). Maybe it’s to ensure proplay works without a hitch or maybe it’s due to more rendering in city or something (wouldn’t know as I never touch those modes).

Shaq is on the cover and he does receive a better face scan for his eras version (not for the regular roster version which seems the same). But look at the other players, the difference is night and day in grading and textures.
