Re: Almost all Defensive Settings work this year
For some reason, by going in to the CPU settings, going to player focus and setting it to 'drive' I can get the CPU to go over on some screens. But only on some players, some of the time.
For example, Ive set the CPU's strategy to 'drive' on Luka, Kyrie and Klay.
Initially I got them to go over on some of Luka's pick and rolls, now I cant at all. Same with Kyrie. I can get them to over on Klay's but couldnt before. Ive tried changing the player's positions (eg from PG to SG) but can't find any reason or consistency with any of this.
In short; I have no idea how to set the CPU to defend with the same method we've used in previous years.
Highly annoying.Comment

Also, changing your guys position won't mean defender's change.
For example, change your PG to SF, and he will still be guarded by the CPU PG.
Ive seen some good things with settings for my team, but the CPU is a disaster.
Unless there's something Im not seeing.Comment

Re: Almost all Defensive Settings work this year
Yeah I am basically just playing single quarters and messing around with mods for now while I wait (hope) that these defensive settings are resolved.
I understand it's comprehensive and easy to have things not functioning, but some of these things did function in previous 2Ks - that's the part that frustrates me. I don't consider it playable offline at this stage.
Hopefully this area is looked at in a patch/fix and hopefully prioritized in future 2Ks. I think it's pretty important for good, offline gameplay.Comment

Time to bump this very interesting thread!
Have you found any improvements recently with offensive and defensive settings?
Me personally, nothing... And I think that Crash Boards is broken.Boots..........To ASSES!!!!!!Comment

Re: Almost all Defensive Settings work this year
Rn, when you switch sides and change the CPU matchups manually they don't reset after timeouts. I like to make the CPU defensive scheme similar to real life. For example, when I play the Celtics or Cavs I made them switch everything. That was a great fix, at least for me.
There are still a lot of settings that are incosistent (or don't work at all). Hope it gets better next year.Comment

Re: Almost all Defensive Settings work this year
Can anyone give me a quick lowdown on leave them vs gap? Specifically I know leave them doesn't work as you would expect it to, but is it just functioning the same as gap? Or is it behaving more like moderate or something?
If I'm in a scenario where I would want to leave a guy, should I use gap instead?Comment

Re: Almost all Defensive Settings work this year
'Leave them' is not the same as gap. It's well explained in the settings. It's mainly for help defense.
Example: I'm playing the Thunder and Hartenstein is the only player who is not a threat for 3pt. So I go to 'player focus' and use 'leave them' on Hartenstein so the guy guarding him will be the primary help defender.Comment

'Leave them' works as intended. 'Gap' is a good option too.
what the heck? what game are you playing there? this is definitely not the NBA 2k25 i know. I have never seen anything close to this in this game. especially the second play is great. hayes is stepping into the paint, waits there for the help AND helps without you doing anything. I really have NEVER EVER seen anything like this in 2k25 and not in the past few years.
if you want i can record a video how leave him looks like when I am playing.Comment

I played around a bit and with leave them + stay attached never i do not get your result. i was able to get my defender help when I hold LB, but Not on his own. and later in the game even that didnt work anymore and i had to Control the help defender myself to get him into help Position.Comment
