The only thing that would be simplified is you not pressing the button. All that stuff still has to load, it's not going to magically go faster than the one second it takes for you to press the start, if pressing start was taken out of the game.
Will we still have to press start to load the menu?

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -

Or, if you prefer to use logic, why put in more work to add something to the game in the first place that slows down the player and load times, but offers no positives in return.
Where did you get the idea that games begin with this annoyance and it takes work for the programmers to "remove" it, as if they didn't put it there in the first place?Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: Will we still have to press start to load the menu?
Say if I turn the game on; and go to the bathroom. I want the game READY to go ONCE I come back from the bathroom.
But with 2K when I come back FROM the bathroom THEN I have to press WHATEVER to load WHATEVER THEN I am ready to go.
I understand and agree with LeBronzeOriginally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: Will we still have to press start to load the menu?
As for the "attract mode" BS, that doesn't make any sense. In an arcade, they need to actually draw people in to spend money on the game. In the home setting, 100% of people who put the game in already intend to play it. It's not possible to convince them further.Comment

Re: Will we still have to press start to load the menu?
Like I said earlier, I could go do something else while it's loading if the whole process was automated. I could make some coffee or take a crap or get the mail. But the game needs to be babysat to load the menu, so I can't do any of those things.

I guess different people have different standards. You've got the Steve Jobs camp who demands that their product be nearly perfect before they let their workers sleep, and you've got the "as long as it can do the things the packaging says it can do we're ok" guys who would be more than ok with a design oversight like this. After all, it doesn't prevent you from playing the game, so how could it possibly be a flaw? Nobody can force you to have high standards for yourself or others. I guess you're either born with it or not.Comment

Re: Will we still have to press start to load the menu?
How about you just press the button and then go do what you have to do?

Re: Will we still have to press start to load the menu?
That's too much work. If I put a game in I don't want to press a damn button, even if for whatever reason I'm leaving the game idle for more than 2 minutes. How dare they infringe on my right to put a game in and take a ****.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: Will we still have to press start to load the menu?
And I stand by my belief that an intelligent person always attempts to make the best decision when confronted with more than one option, even if it isn't a life or death matter. The "design of the year" awards for industrial or software design always go to refined designs with no excess waste. Needless to say, 2k isn't exactly turning heads with their far from intuitive designs. Hard to explain that improvements are possible to fanboys, but the unbiased would understand.Comment

Because the button marks the halfway point within the loading time. You've already wasted time by that point.

Re: Will we still have to press start to load the menu?
Correct. There are two options. A menu that loads on its own, and a menu that requires your intervention to load. It's not life or death, and the fate of the world doesn't rest on which option you choose, but nonetheless, one option is clearly superior to the other. End of debate. Some people care about the details, others don't.Comment
