I'm going to go ahead and say that developers of sports games intentionally don't make the game as good as it could be. Why would they do that? They need to save features for the version the next year and the year after that in order to get your $50 every year.

I never bashed EA I bashed LIVE, NCAA College Football is my favorite sports title so once again please get off my nutz. You are obviously a EA fanboy which is why you come to the fricking 2K boards to defend it. I play whatever game is best period. I heard the hype about Live and went and rented the copy today to check out what I was hearing, you are correct I didn't get to use the DNA feature, but did I make a single comment about that feature, no I did not, so once again GET OFF MY NUTZ!!!! I honestly don't give a damn what company makes the product. I'm going to be real about the situation, none of these companies have ever paid a dime to me, so I go for what is best. NBA2K9, MLB The Show, and NCAA College Football period. Anything else is weak to me, and I have played them all. So once again before I ride out STAY OFF MY NUTZ

I know I tried to take a good enough shot to make my point, but Live's replay camera is sad for angles.

I think the 2k9 player models accuracy are 10x better than Live's player models, because of the graphics detail.

But the graphics engine as far as skin textures, colors and dynamic lighting, etc is better in Live 09.

People need to separate the difference between graphics engine and graphics detail.

With the graphics engine that 2k9 has they do an amazing job in detailing the player models, but it's super jaggied and stadiums are just too bright! But the facial structures, hair details and over body's are better in 2k9.

Live graphics engine is so much better but their artist suck and if they can put more time into the player models faces and body's they'd murder 2k. Also look at the details in Live's jersey's and shoes. 10x better than 2k.

I think the priorities of both company's went different directions.

Never say never! I know what EA is doing. But Take-Two needs to boost up the technology at 2k's camp and really put 2k basketball back on the map of satisfaction like it use to be.

I think 2k8 plays better than 2k9. But like you said, 2k9's presentation is very nice compared to previous outings. And like a few more people complained about the sliding, bad defensive A.I. etc is just way out of hand compared to old games. It's just one of those seasons where the expectations were high and the bad gameplay kicked it all back down. Hopefully 2kX will come out a better game.

2k should use the euphoria(i think i spelled it right) engine probably it would solve the clipping issues. But that will more than a year so it wouldn't be 2k10 probably 2k11 or 12. They need a new engine now its time man. I think EA finally a fire under their arse from the fans to bring out a better game and their finally putting effort while 2k is still taking this laid back approach.

MLB the show 09, FIFA 09, NHL 09 is probably the best sim sports title out there. These guys have surpass the bar 2k set for sim sports game. Now Madden is trying to get to that placed, reading their blogs it really look like a possiblitiy and i hope im right. We

Ok, fellas lets get back focused on the topic at hand. I agree that based on the way things have been going the past 2 years, Live clearly has the potential to surpass NBA2K. The big thing holding Live back is the lack of presentation and animations of the players. But things like help D and court spacing Live is ahead of 2K. Now whats scary is EA has openly admiited there mistakes and have stated that it is there goal to improve on those things in Live10. 2K has been quite about the future of 2K10, which scares me because they may keep everyone in the dark once again till the last minute and give us a new game without addressing the same issues and basically say - deal with it. For example lets be honest the Living Rosters/2Kinsider roster updates cannot compare to what NBA Live is doing with the DNA feature. The technology they are using for that is lightyears ahead of what 2K is doing for roster updates. You have to agree that don't we all hate how we have to constantly edit rosters/sliders/settings to get for example Kobe to play like Kobe?? Go into the roster thread right now, there are over a dozen roster makers trying to get the game to play right.

For NBA2K10 this is a big thing that I want addressed, the Living Rosters needs to be thrown out. Im sorry to say it but 2K needs to come up with a simular tech that NBA Live is using for teams and players attributes and tendencies. The one great thing that did come out of the Living Rosters this year is that for the first time in 2Kbasketball we are getting constant roster updates, they may not be accurate and true to life, but hey its a improvement. I just hope the 2K developers are paying attention to what is going on around them with there competition. I believe Beluba when he stated something like one of the things that frustrated him working on 2Kbasketball was that they wasn't addressing issues, and were covering up issues with new animations, and doing alot of window dressing instead of implementing new technology. No sports game will be perfect - but games like NFL2K5, FIFA 09, NHL09 and MLB09 The Show are hard to complain about and strive for perfection. Now Madden10 and Live10 devs (seem) to be follwoing suit... will NBA2K10 devs?

Naw chief I wasn't assuming any of those things about you, I was saying it was wrong to make an assumption about people based on their screen names or typing etiquette etc. But we all got it back together.

Maybe I was a little harsh on NBA Live but in the 2 or 3 hours I spent playing it, I was really unimpressed compared to 2k. Honestly by biggest gripes about 2K are unrealistic simulated stats in association, the limited number of rookie faces, and the ridiculous weight and body sizes i.e. 6'4 236 lb shooting guards with thin bodies etc.

However, I have never heard anybody say that Live is a better looking game than NBA2K9. Anybody. There may be certain aspects in Live's graphics that are better, but 2K9 has so many models animating at one time that it obliterates Live in the overall look of the game.

I do love Live's lighting however.

The three main things people wanted to be fixed from 2K8 are:

-Association
-Graphics
-Animations/Presentation

What was improved on the most in NBA2K9:

-Association
-Graphics
-Animations/Presentation

You get what you ask for. Hopefully, the outcry this year will lead to better team play/defensive AI.

Also the court floors and stadiums are more accurate in Live 09 with better dynamic lighting. 2k's stadiums are generic with correct court floors and the stadiums are over bright to show the player models off more.

I apologize for misreading your quote. Nonetheless, I still think your off base. Why would anyone compare polygons and textures when the two games render two completely different number of characters? Of course the textures are going to be better in a game where they don't animate as many people on the screen at one time.

Two completely different ways of doing graphics. I would say that most people at this point think NBA2K9 looks better overall.
