Straight up duke. I bought all the Madden hype last year and it was the worst Madden I have played in a long time. Talk is cool but until results are seen that's all it is. If it comes out wack your failure will be that much more horrific.

I'm not trying to belittle what they are doing; Don't take my comments as such.

It's a necessary move forward for this industry to do what they are doing. The problem I have is when guys use the 2k's developer presence (or lack thereof) as reasoning that the game is "failing" and all of sudden, after multiple years, the guys there outside of Mike have absolutely no idea in how to make a basketball game.

Not a knock on Mr. Wang, but his hand wasn't the only one in the cookie jar. Give the guys there that have been producing a stellar game year in and out in NBA and CHoops the respect they deserve, not just one guy because he's willing to post on a message board.

NBA 2K is a great game no doubt, but its doesnt get basketball fundamentals right (Help Defense for example).

The graphics issue is a point that can never be proven by either side so let's just kill that noise. It is an opinion not a scientific equation. If you have to explain why something looks better and people can't reach that conclusion by looking at the same thing as you then no amount of explanation will help them see otherwise. It is their opinion and no one is dead wrong about it.

Oh, I believe 2K is the best Basketball game don't get me wrong, I just want it to stay that way. As for those thinking that developer interaction doesn't equal some good results, play MLB09 The Show. Or go on the Madden forum and read the EA blogs for Madden10 that things they are implementing,..all of them. I understand the hype train that EA has been known to put out, but this year seems different, you would just have to read the blogs to understand. The devs seem to be following the route the Sony devs with MLB as far as community interaction,feedback,and implementation for there games. I just don't want 2K to keep us in the dark anymore, keep striving to be the best game, and recognize that the bar is raising for realism in sports games.

NBA2K9 dissapointed alot of people, especially the online aspect. NBA Live09 was better than years past, some may feel it may surpass 2K this year, we will see. I just hope 2K10 finally improves on the fundementals of basketball and the devs implement new technology into the game and continue to strive, because other sports companies are now doing this.

Newsflash: MLB: The Show was already a good game BEFORE the community interaction.

It's a smokescreen. A lot of guys don't see that, but ultimately, that is all it is.

Again, I still feel it's necessary for the genre in this industry, but community interaction does not equate to a good game.

Again I say, if they didn't listen to us we would still see the following

1. Wouldn't be able to edit standing dunk ratings
2. Keyon Dooling would have Kobe's sig shot out of the box in 2K9 (since we thought that DOolings shot should be changed to Kobe's in 2K8)
3. Ridiculous alley oops and alley oop layups
4. Balll handlers fallings down on defensive contact

Those are just a few things that I KNOW for sure were a result of us "complaining"

Ok. The Devs communicated with the community before MLB08 was released and MLB09 was released. The best got even better, they took questions and feedback and it help resulting in a great game. I totally understand how you feel, at first glimpse it does seem like blowing smoke up you know where. But I'm asking people to read alot of the EA blogs, developer and gamer Q&A and Sony forums questions and answers. The interactions helps, the feedback, helps, the questions and answers helps. People can't hate on EA all they want, and let them blind them to whats shaping up and going on, but all I'm saying is beware.

Small examples of Q&A with the developers at EA about Madden new camera angles:

(We haven't responded yet because we just don't know for sure yet. This is still in flux (along with many other things). We still have it on our list to complete (i.e. it isn't cut for 10), but I will never confirm or deny features going in the game until I actually see them myself...I don't want to get burned like ol' Peter Molyneux and end up on Kotaku as promising something and not delivering.)

Things have gotten pretty surreal with this supposed "Next gen". When by year five, you have to hold your breath hoping for different camera views and Refs on the field.

And these most basic of things are now looked at as big time features, that info on them is being withheld till a later date. Strange days indeed.

Devs response:
(I do agree that the situation isn't the best...but I hope you can see you all are being heard now (as the blogs and changes will continue to prove).

A key point though is that we aren't 'witholding' these things to my knowledge. If it makes it in the game for sure, we will let you know that it's in, and no one on this team should be 'hyping' it. That's why I released defensive matchups to the blog with no fanfare...it is expected, it should have been there already, but hell, we are happy it is finally back.

You won't see me touting old features as a big deal. "Act like you've been there before" I believe applies here.)

(I'll state it again - we don't want to say yes to anything until we are 100% sure it's in the game, and is no risk to shipping. On the flip side I also don't want to say no unless there's no possible way it can happen. There are obviously big features that we're probably going to hold onto to drive buzz for the game later to launch, but IMO there's no f'ing way things like sliders, custom cameras, refs, and the like enter that category. When we know a feature like that is in for sure, we'll tell you through a blog or a post or something.

FWIW, I stayed up until 3:00 am last night mucking around with all the old custom camera code to a) see where it stood and b) see if I could do the feature myself (so I wouldn't have to bother an engineer that already has enough stuff on his plate). It's not pretty
But you folks will be the first to know if/when anything happens.)

It helps, despite what some people think, maybe a smokescreen but its better than being left in the dark and turning on the light and the last second like 2K does. I do think 2K will probably deliver, but the main question I raised in the beginning of this thread was do you think 2K has recognized that the bar is being raised on how sports game is being done? Other devs will reach there level or surpass it, if 2K hasn't recognized this. Thats all I'm trying to say.

I don't know where you got this information, since it's incorrect. The release of MLB'09 was the first sign of community interaction and we didn't even have enough time to effect the outcome of the final build.

Next year may be a different story. But you're saying this as if you know more about the impact about those involved.

And your quotes about Madden do nothing for the game. All they are doing is giving you an explanation as to why something isn't in the game.

How does that improve the game? You're still left, using your examples, without additional camera angles.

The thing is, it's helping the game. DC has already posted examples why.

The difference is people want to see a Pink name here on the forums and some guy replying back "We hear you and we'll try our best."

Ok,.. im done arguing, didn't know this was going to turn into a EA vs 2K, as fans of 2KBasketball were not allowed to say nothing negative or we don't like on the 2Kforum. I could explain it more, and give more examples, which I did back pages ago, but its pointless. People rather argue over 2Kvs EA instead of just answering the inital question I asked about MLB Devs and EA devs seem to be raising the bar, do you think 2K is taking notice or what do you think they will do in response?? Will they start by interacting with us like the other devs? Do they have other plans? Are they keeping it hush hush? Do you think they will have new tech to implement in 2K10. Just trying to conversate about sports games...funny.

Where did it become EA vs. 2k? You're using examples of EA interaction and I'm explaining to you how all it is is discussion.

There is no value that you can provide right now as proof of this interaction making the games better.

People post the issues here, and they get addressed.

People post the issues about another game, they get addressed and they get someone with a pink name saying "hey man, thanks for your post!"

What is the difference? It's good will to the community, something that is obviously necessary among some companies.

I think the interaction between developer and consumer was a privilege, not an all out right.

EA/Live needs to grab all the fans back who they alienated years ago, IMO. I was one of them guys who bought Live/Madden 1st day, regardless of product/news. However, after being burned for 2-3 years straight, I gave up on them.

Plenty of people still buy Live cuz its more pick up & play than 2k. IMO, 2k built their fanbase on ISO, sig styles and details, they didn't need Beluba to piggyback, although his interaction helped, IMO. I wasnt one of the ones looking for a new Beluba post.

LOL...most of the time I used to think that the guy just signed on OS, leave his PC logged on to 2k forums and guys would think that he is listening but he wasnt even there. As long as they saw his name under Currently Active Users, people would post away.
