Re: NBA 2K10 Custom Music Thread

so once downloaded do we just create a playlist in WMP for each file then assign them after setting up to stream? This was the main reason I got 2K over live...if this works I'll be ecstatic...thanks for all the hard work

So is burning these to a cd and then ripping them the only way to do it, or can you rip them from a flash drive or pc?

Also, does each song have to be on its own playlist? or can we put say 6 songs to be used as home-up songs and it'll just pick one each time randomly?

From there I open a team folder, highlight the long tracks, press enter, and WMP opens those up. I can now drag the 25 popular tracks into that playlist and save it for each team... Now theres only ONE copy of the 25 popular tracks with each team feeding off of that folder via the playlist.

                    Beauitful.

Ill do the same likewise with Homeup events.

The road to NBA variety is almost complete.

any one know how playlist files work? If my locations are different than yours, since I have a different file structure, will it still work?
Wish I had given you a heads up on streaming before you went ahead and uploaded the files. Still, I hope that the playlists will be able to be shared among others, even if it does involve creating and sharing another torrent with the correct file structure, as I'm sure setup is proving to be a confusing task for some.

Not sure about your question concerning playlists, but I can say I've downloaded files before that have come with a playlist that contains all the files in the given folder, and that has worked on my system as well. So, technically, that is possible. Can someone help iron out the specifics of this?

As such, I think I'm going to hold off on doing this myself, as I think this is getting close to being sorted out in a way that will be able to be shared with others. Thanks for sticking with this and putting in so much effort guys!

You can't save or store playlists on your 360 for music that is being streamed; however, you really don't need to. The 360 is capable of recognizing the playlists you create on the PC side and can use those in games that offer a feature to customize music.

To setup your system for sharing using Windows Media Player, follow this tutorial: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...tepbystep.aspx. Worked perfectly for me, and a simple setup also. Just make sure that when you enable sharing, your 360 is powered on so that it's recognized as an available device to share with.

I have my 360 hard wired to my PC and I connect to Live through internet connection sharing. This cable is also able to stream music.

I just burned 6 cds and ripped them. Works like a charm. The reverb was done just right for the Long, Home Up and Away up sounds. Great job guys...

                              you must create a playlist........

u must have a library of songs set up in windows media player

                              soooo

if i want outkast, jay z the camel, and Rhianna demon princess to play for the tip off of my games, i get songs from these artist, create a playlist by right clicking for that option, and naming that playlist "tipoff"

i have heard that 2ksports is going to put a detailed faq soon so maybe wait for that

Re: NBA 2K10 Custom Music Thread

I understand the confusion and the frustration.

Right now there are two WAYS to get these files into the game.

Both require the use of PLAYLISTS.

                                OPTION one:

If you are burning cd-rs as music discs, that method works just fine.

Once ripped, you need to use the PLAYLISTS as you means to get what you want in the game.

                                Example:
-Lets say you want a Bulls tipoff song as your one and only tipoff song for the bulls. You will need to create a PLAYLIST in the music library section with that one song in the playlist. So find that one song in your ripped music section, add to playlist and save.

-Likewise if you want 6-7 tracks to be played for HOMEUP. You will need those 7 tracks listed and saved as one playlist.

Upon entering the game, you will go to the arena music manager and see your playlists LISTED. At this point, you cannot edit the playlists and whats inside those playlists. You need to go back to the dashboard music library for that. So the key is to use both menus to get what you desire.

You can now scroll to UNITED CENTER, go to TIPOFF, and find your Bulls TIPOFF theme.

Likewise, you can find your playlist for your 7 homeup tracks and select that very playlist to go anywhere you want.

eseentially a playlist can be ONE SONG for one event, or 30 songs for another event.

                                ---------------
OPTION two requires that you are media connected to your computer.

Via this method you can create playlists in WMP and save them on your computer. Using the shared folder that the xbox 360 recognizes, will enable the 360 to pick up the playlists and STREAM the music over..

The playlist theme is the same here though. One WMP playlist can be ONE song for one event, or 30 songs in that one playlist.. In Game, all you see is playlist names. so the key is to remember which playlists have the multiple songs.

THis method lets you use your computer and see the file names as you create the playlists.

                                Much easier with option 2
                                ----------------------
                                some FAQs:
                                - No you cannot use a USB flash to rip the music to your harddrive
-No you cannot use a mp3 disc to rip the music to your harddrive
-NO id3 tags donot work on cd-r music discs. you will be left to name everything if you so choose
-The only know method to get them directly on your harddrive is via burning a cd-r as a MUSIC cd on your computer, which is a 80 minute disc.
-As mentioned above, the other alternative is using the windows media share feature for your xbox 360 which enables you to share content from you computer to your 360.

that pretty much answers all the questions i think
