Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
Yeah, gotta give it 2k this year for this. As opposed to last year(imo), the sliders actually work. May take some time, but they work."I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life
Look behind you, I'm bout to pass you twice
Back to the future and gotta slow up for the present
I'm fast, dudes can't get past my past
How they supposed to deal with my perfect present?"Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
Hey I know this has been discussed before, but...
I've turned defensive assist to 0. Yet my players are still doing the congo-line double-team **** on defense.
I've tried screwing around with all the defensive sliders but haven't been able to find anything that works.
So I guess my question is does anyone known of a work-around, or is this basically something we're going to have to put up with until the patch?Comment

I love the game, but like everyone I have my gripes. Why not join the party and post them!
- Iso isn't as fluid as I would like.
- CPU pounds it into the paint with passes way too easily
Those are my big twoComment

Too many PIP, I've never seen a team in the NBA look to score as many points in the paint as the CPU.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
I'm loving this game as well. Pretty much the best presentation ever in a sports game imo. Sure there are some quirks and out of the box it's dunkfest with rediculously high fg percentages but after some minor tweaking i'm having a good time with it. I'm not sure what they were really thinking with the "out of the box" settings but i guess they are just catering more to the arcade crowd than the sim crowd and considering that is probably their biggest market and the game is selling well in recent years i guess it makes sense.
I just need to finalise my rosters and get my sliders locked in and it's time to jump into some association mode.
I'm having good fun with my player (athletic centre) and am currently 3 games into training camp with the Thunder. As i'm playing with the reserves v the starters it's amazing just how much of a beast Durant is. In the first two games against my squad he dropped 32 and 39 points on a variety of jumpers, oops and dribble moves and we had no answer for his onslaught. In the 3rd game we had Bruce Bowen on our team and that made a huge difference as he held KD to 22 points and hit a few 3's of his own. Good stuff!Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
you may average 22 per game, but if youre looking at doing sliders and a game by game assessment, some real life nba games, had just 5 Fts, some with 15, some with 20. and many with more than 25. so unless you play 82 games with a set of sliders, its almost impossible to get your stats just right. just a word of caution.. i wonder what the standard deviation on alot of these stats are. that would be more in line with what we should be ball parking our sliders for. im guessing 15 to 28, with the average at 22.Last edited by RubenDouglas; 10-12-2009, 12:54 AM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread
I have to say that the utter lack of responsiveness with the controls are a total blight on this game. I am playing My Player and when I do the drills especially the low post on offense drills I have nearly no control over what my guy does. He receives the ball and then he can't back the defense to the net, he is stone walled and I have to wait for some animations to play out before I can take a shot. The dribbling is very awkward to pick up and the lack of controller customisation is a head banging clanger!!
Also how can this dude possible try out for the NBA when his shooting is sooooo poor. IOn the shooting drills it tells me perfect release and the ball misses every time.! It is impossible to land a 3 and hard to notch anything from long range...again, my guy should stick with backyard hoops and never contemplate going pro if he is this bad.
In the try out games it is infuriating trying to control my guy. The defense slide and warp all over the place and the hanlding on the controls is too shoddy even when I get a chance to do something.
For example. I am a PG and have the ball outside the 3 and my opponent falls over behind me, I go to scoot off and my guy does some weird animation where he lurches and then returns to where he started allowing my opponent to get back infront!!!??
Easily Live's controls destroy this concoction. I am a returning bball gamer (haven't touched an NBA game in years), have had this since Friday and Live since Wednesday and Live is just so much more user friendly and far more intuitive and responsive. I cannot believe how the controls are so bad for a supposedly premiere sports title. It is an utter turn off and just makes me shake my head.
Can sliders help me?? Is it just that my burp of a player is so underskilled that he feels like a monga?? I mean seriously, my guy should never go near the NBA and neither should most of his team mates! They should become a gang and while away their days surfing trains, eating dogs and stealing coins out of make-a-wish fountains. Silly bums the lot of em.
I feel that there is a good game lurking beyond the glass but I just can't break through the low lying ceiling of user un-friendliness.
It only leads me to believe that you kind of have to become a disciple of this video game to be rewarded, it is just not easy for a new comer to the series. We are the music makers...Comment
