Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?

I understand we want real player stats with % shooting, but doesnt that lose some of the fun in the game. I mean why not make shots just a button than. No reason to think about what your doing, just hit a button and let the cpu decide if it goes in. While using timing makes me feel like I'm the one that can change what happens in the game.

So if you want the cpu to control the game pick shooting%, and if you want to control the game pick shot stick.

Good point, I never moved 3pt and mid range from 50 in 2k10

guys I cant remember the exact numbers shooting sliders are set to by the gamestyle preset. honestly I tend do believe it was 50 for midrange and 45 for threes and 42 for inside and zone with sim settings. I will try to get some more playtime tomorrow to find out more.

With this option turned ON, as the name implies, your timing release will be factored in to your shot %. It's layered on top of the player's Shot Rating, type of shot taken (jumper, drifter, leaner, etc), defense impact, etc. Being really late or really early on your release will have negative impact, and being perfect on your release will give you an added boost in making the shot.

          Real Player %
When you turn this ON, it's basically ignoring your release on the Shotstick completely. You won't get penalized for early or late releases. The same factors come into play as mentioned above, sans the stick release bonus/penalty. Pretty much how Real FT % works. We simply migrated the feature over to all the shots as well.
          thank u for the explanation.

yeah, me neither. 45 for 3pt shooting is way too low.

                So just to confirm

SHOT STICK RELEASE, chances of shot going in is determined by BOTH timing AND the actual NBA players shot rating?

PLAYER % Only based on NBA players shot rating

Just wanted to confirm that SHOT STICK RELEASE explanation above is correct and not what I originally thought it was, which was - Chances of shot going in is simply based on shot release and NBA player ratings don't come into it at all.

If the above is true, then I will use SHOT STICK RELEASE

If thats true then it looks like SHOT STICK RELEASE option does not factor in player shot ratings. If you were able to make 80% of Fts with SHAQ, looks like player shot rating doesn't come into it at all, even though it was mentioned above that it does.

So which is it? The explanation in couple posts above by JSapida says it does, but going from NBAlum's experience with it, it looks like it actually doesn't.

Unless player shot ratings doesn't play a part with FT's, but only jump shots (when using SHOT STICK RELEASE option)? THat would explain SHAQ's 80%+ FT success.

Wish we could get a 100% confirmation with this. I guess the only way is to get the game and start shooting 3's with SHAQ and see what happens

the foul sliders really do change gameplay quite a bit, set the users reach in slider to 0 and you could reach all game, 100 and you will register a foul with every touch of the x button.....personal experience

I know he says here that timing will be ignored with Real Player % turned on. However, he also says that it works exactly like free-throws. In 2k10 if you have the Real Player % option turned on, your timing still has a slight effect on the outcome of the shot.

For example, if you just flick the stick with no timing at all, you will shoot slightly less than the player’s actual rating. Conversely, if you time it perfectly, you will shoot slightly better than the player’s actual rating. The difference is that the variance is very small (maybe 1 or 2 percentage points each way). Another interesting point, the free-throw difficulty slider still had an effect on free-throws even if you turn on the Real Player % option.

I tested this intensively after I noticed all of my players were shooting less than their rating in association mode. I determined this was because I was simply flicking the stick to start the shooting motion. Once I started hitting their “sweet” spot on the release, all percentages went slightly above their ratings. Finally, I bumped free-throw difficulty up to 99 and it evened out everyone’s percentages to right around their ratings. (This was tested over hundreds of games, and many seasons, so the sample size is more than sufficient to make some conclusive deductions.)

I hope that the shot mechanics are implemented exactly the same, with timing still having a small effect on outcome, but not nearly as much as straight shot stick timing.

With free throws it's 100% on user input. The bad free throw shooters have a smaller window of success. Perfect release = make 100% of the time

However if you master Shaq's release you can shoot 80%+ with him or even 90%.

Shooting jumpshots is not the same as this. A perfect release does not = make.

                        Hope that clarifies.

Didn't realize this game had real player %'s for both jump shots and FT's

I'm a huge favorite of playing sports games and letting the actual player ratings control most of the games outcome

So, i'll be using the real player %'s for both FT's and Jump shots this year. Personally i feel if a scrub can't hit jumpers IRL i shouldn't enhance his ability in the game to hit jumpers.

Kudos to 2K for adding this type of feature it should go along way in adding even more realism to gameplan.....

As a full manual player in Fifa and a simulation guy overall, i like to set the outcome myself rather than it's being set by cpu so i'll probably use shot stick timing because it's a game ''i'' play so.

Other than this i want to know how will this work for online games? Anybody know how this works, cause if i'm playing shot stick timing i want my opponent on the same paremeters.

                            Thanks in advance.

I don't see how people feel they are losing user control with real player % on when you never had full control in the first place. Ratings are the main factor regardless if its a bonus for releasing perfectly or penalty if its a bad release

Dido, I like to be in control so it's shot stick for me. It's fun to go into practice with a differnet team then having to memorise the releases for all the players over again.
