Im not gonna waste my time either. At the end of the day u will be fine with yourself making the game easier instead of challenging your user skills. Why complain for player control when your asking to take control away from the player? I dont get it.

It doesn't make the game easier at all. It takes away control from the user without a doubt, and by looking at the poll it appears most don't have an issue with it.

I could shoot 80%+ at the line with Shaq on any level once you master his FT release. I don't want that. I want the players ratings to determine shot success, not timing.

              exactly.

If I smoke a guy and pull up for a jumper, I don't want to miss it because I let go of a stick too early. I want it to be because the guy cannot shoot off the dribble. I want ratings to actually matter.

Whatever, it's quite obvious that Crossover will not see this point and instead tell us we are not challenging ourselves...lol

This is likely something that will have to be experienced before some of us can say which we prefer over the other. You can make the argument for either option. Though it sounds as simple as "who's in control?" (i.e., the player or the game), it's obviously deeper than that, and I would say that it probably comes down to user control in either situation, it's just a matter how much control. If I have RP% off, and I miss due to releasing to early or too late, then that's on me. If I have RP% on and the guy misses, it's (probably) still on me for not utilizing his skill-set effectively or not putting him in an optimal scoring position. There are pros and cons to each of course, so which is best will be subjective, as usual.

Great post. I think everyone wins because there are options to make the game how we want it.

Actually, if you read the explanation given by the game developer here, you'd see that with shot stick and perfect timing, you're making the game easier for yourself over the guy going straight off of statistics.

But, that's probably just an opinion too.

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?

The people saying it takes away the challenge must be playing with only highly rated teams or something. One of the reasons I love the idea of this is because I like to rebuild teams in association. This feature makes the ratings matter more so the draft, free agency, trades, etc. have a bigger impact IMO. I don't want to only sim. I want to play the games but have the ratings of my players have a bigger impact.

If you want to talk about just a quick game then maybe there's less of a challenge(which depends on the team's ratings) but for an association I think it will make rebuilding more difficult. I look forward to it.

So the results so far are:

50% of people love the idea and are going to use it for both
25% of people are going to keep it like old times and just do FT%
25% of people are going to put it all on their "stick skills"

Crossover you are in the minority here

Come on man, he's probably STRICTLY an online player; and you know how some of them think unless you win using your ultimate stick skillzz you're a scrub who shouldn't be playing the game.

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?

Those that think using this RP% is making the game easier haven't really thought it through at all.

I mean, it's not like getting the shot timing down is some amazing skill that only the best can master. The thing is you get a bonus for having a perfect release (not that hard). So, in that way, the game is easier because if you have perfect timing a higher % of your shots will go in then would otherwise in real life.

Those that don't want to use RP% are not any better players. I can learn a release after a shot or two most of the time I don't feel like I'm missing because I have bad timing. However, sometimes I'll make everything with players that have no business making everything. This means NOT using RP% is going to be easier for all players that have even the most basic skill.

If you think you are really good at the game and want a tougher challenge, you'd use the RP%.
