Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I am just using some personal sliders on All-Star. I think I started with JT's sliders set, (The one that has Offensive awareness to 100 for both CPU and human) but have tweaked it heavily.

Moving up to All-Star was ket for me as I was starting to dominate on Pro. It is tough at first but well worth the learning curve in the end.

What sliders are you using? I've been destroying the CPU in the Playoffs, so I'm looking for new settings.
Use mkarsh slider set, there perfect. But decrease the 3 point shooting for CPU from 53 to 51. The set should be good.

Also I'm thinking of this trade consisting of:
      Miami Heat's first round pick
      Joel Anthony

      and

      Spencer Hawes
      Philly 2nd round pick

Ive been looking to unload Spencer because he's been unhappy cause he's not getting enough minutes(he plays the same amount of minutes as Speights) So I out him on the trade finder, and the Heat offered that.

But the thing is Spencer has some great offensive attributes, I just cant seem to use him right. And I desperately need a defensive center down low so Joel Anthony would be perfect for me.

      So is this trade realistic?

(Just so you know, J-Rich came as part of a trade which freed me up of Eddy Curry's contract. Phoenix = Suckers!!)
Wilson Chandler has tried to keep the ship afloat but alas, to no avail. The Knicks are having a poor season languishing at 16-33.
Due to a season lost, the Knicks took up a close to trade deadline deal offer from the Chicago Bulls. A 2011 #1 rd pick and 2012 #1 rd pick for Danillo Gallineri. Adios Danillo! Hello draft picks for the future.
Since this trade, and sending off Danillo, the Knicks have went on a hot streak. They swept a back to back with Philly, and then took it to the Clippers. (They may not be beasts of the league, but my Knicks were stinking up the court at times)

        With a starting lineup of
        PG- Raymond Felton
        SG - Jason Richardson
        SF - Wilson Chandler
PF- Anthony Randolph (Stoudamaire still on injury for 1 more month)
        C-Ronnie Turiaf

The season may flounder at 18-34 right now, but winning three in a row has brought sunshine back for a bit at "Knicks Arena"

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I've been enjoying reading this thread for awhile now. I figured I'd share what I was up to.

I've started an association with the Pistons and have witnessed something I've never really seen before.

I settled on the Pistons because I was interested in building up a team with a low overall. I wanted to see how I could build through trades and FA signings, as even the best draft classes haven't really sparked my interest. (I've almost totally stopped following college basketball, but that's a different story)

So I take the lowly Pistons. I play the season-opener against the Nets and win in relative ease. I decided that I need to tweak some sliders (pro-difficulty). I play on 10 minute quarters and free-time is kind of sparse so I sim the next few games. Soon the only 3 games we've won are the ones I've played. I'm not upset at the record, but I realize that I'm not having fun at all with this team. I have to make a move of some kind or else this is going to get stale.

On December 17 I pulled off a trade. I'm not too proud of it, as it isn't very realistic, but it completed the objective of making my association fun.

          Pistons trade:
          Austin Daye
          Ben Gordon
          Charlie V
          Rodney Stuckey

          Suns trade:
          Steve Nash
          Mickeal Pietrus
          Marcin Gortat

So Nash becomes the new "go-to" guy in Detroit. Phoenix got hosed but I'm having fun so I'm not letting it bother me too badly.

Fast forward a few weeks and we're still not doing too well. I pull the finger on another trade that makes little sense.

          Pistons Trade:
          Will Bynum
          Jonas Jerekbo
          Ben Wallace
          2011 1st round pick

          Kings Trade:
          Jermaine Taylor
          Luther Head
          2011 2nd round pick.

          Pistons Trade:
          Marcin Gortat
          2012 1st round pick

          Kings Trade:
          Carl Landry

Pistons sign Rafer Alston from free Agency.

Yes, I know, unrealistic as can be.

          My lineup sits as this:
PG: Nash (85 ovr) / Alston (72 ovr)
SG: Hamilton (77 ovr) / McGrady (75 ovr)
SF: Prince (76 ovr) / Pietrus (72 ovr)
PF: Landry (75 ovr) / Maxiell (71 ovr)
C: Monroe (67 ovr) / Maxiell / Chris Wilcox combo

We are overall 67. But..mission accomplished, it's a surprisingly fun team to play as.

But a strange thing happens. Even though the Pistons are 67 overall, they begin to win games that they weren't winning before.

Now, as I write this, the Pistons have claimed 2nd seed in the East (started this association friday) with a record of 54-28. I've played 10 games of the season going 8-4, with losses to the Magic, Celtics, and two losses to the Bulls.

I've never had a team this bad (on paper) do so well during simulated games. I know this isn't exactly the most realistic Association in the first place, but I was still surprised. Maybe the most surprising thing: The Pistons are tied with the Trailblazers as the best defensive team in the NBA, giving up an average of 93.2 ppg.

Right now, the 7th seeded Bulls, at 87 overall, have beaten me for the third time (lost a double OT thriller 116-115) and have taken a 1-0 lead in the first round of the playoffs. I know it doesn't seem like I should be hanging with an 87 overall rated team but all my games have been close. Hamilton, Prince, and McGrady make a surprising amount of shots. Nash is Nash. Landry is pretty streaky, and Monroe just rebounds/provides a post presence.

It might not be "sim," but I'll be damned if it this isn't the most fun I've had in an Association in a long time.

Once again I have restarted, this is the last time,LOL. I finally just broke down and did my own edits to players because i was not happy with sim stats, team shooting % and team assist were to low so thats why i ended up restarting with my own editied roster, hopefully fixed the issue. Anyway I just beat the Spurs 95-83. Shocked I beat them as this is the 3rd time on a restart that I beat them on opening night. I held them to 34% shooting while i shot 43%. To my surprise I grabbed 9 off. reb. and they had 11.

That's what it is about man, having fun. Do what is fun for you. As long as you don't go "Oh man, I'm dominating, I'm so awesome, lol I rule and everyone else sucks", then I'm cool with whatever you do in your Association, whether that is play on Rookie or build a Kobe-Melo-Dwight Howard dynasty or whatever.

If you're having fun blowing up the Pistons and giving them a new face, go for it. For one thing, things should get challenging as you go along and have to rebuild, since Nash, Rip, and even Tayshaun are fairly aged and probably your primary scoring. If you can develop Monroe and Landry and find a good young guard in the draft or FA, then its even more adventure.

Try going for thabeet hes young and hes cheap. If you develop him each month with defensive paint training he gets beastly, Also at end of season make him do weight training.

                Eventually he becomes beastly.

Great last 2 games, went down to the wire against BOS and squeaked it out 91-90 with Randolph draining clutch FTs with 2sec left.

Next game i was nixed by ATL 99-92, JJ was feelin' frisky all night[34pts] and no one could stop him. This game blew b/c both my Centers went down, Bargs twisted ankle 1-2weeks, and Anderson sprained neck 1-2weeks. When Anderson got hurt the comp freakin put Bargs back in, WTF?! So now i have Randolph at C and Amir at PF, with Peja backing them up hahaha. Before next game i will try and acquire some help up front, looking at Ilyasova.

I am also considering Odom b/c he's obviously unhappy on LAL bench. I don't know if i have a fair enough trade to offer them b/c i'm not trading Bayless,Derozan,Bargs,Randolph,or Greene. I won't do it unless i feel the Lake show is getting enough in return.

                    PG Bayless | Calderon
                    SG Barbosa | Weems
SF Derozan | Donte Greene | Julian Wright | Peja | Kleiza
                    PF A.Randolph | Amir Johnson | J.Dorsey
C Bargnani | D.Anderson [trading him upon his recovery,i hate this guy]

                        Hi, guys.

I'm getting ready to start a new Association with the Spurs. I would like some guidance on what quarter length settings I should use to get realistic stats for AI simulated games while playing 6min. quarters.

Any other settings/tips I should consider?

All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I like what you're doing with derozan at the 3, but you might want to move kleiza further up on the depth chart, because he's basically instant offense. Also, try putting barg at the 4, so he can become a more nowitzki like player, instead of being forced to bang down low. it'll also disguise his post defense flaws.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

So I started a Wizards Association to play with my boy John. This was before the Arenas deal, so my team looked like this:
                            PG- Wall, Heinrich
SG- Arenas, Nick Young, Alonzo Gee
                            SF- Josh Howard, Al Thornton
PF- Andray Blatche, Yi, Seraphin, Booker
                            C- McGee, Hilton Armstrong

I traded Arenas, Blatche and a first round pick for Jamal Crawford and Josh Smith. I did this because I wanted a stop gap shooting guard that also only had one year left on his contract so I could have more cap room in the off-season. And also Josh Smith is the perfect athletic specimen for me. I also trade Josh Howard and Gee for Chase Budinger. The first year I didn't make playoffs so I get to the off-season and I don't resign any of my expiring contracts. (Young, Thornton, Crawford and Yi)

Anyways, I get to free-agents and lo and behold I see Melo there. I decide to gun for him so I can re-unite him with his hometown and also have a solid core with Melo, Wall, and Smith. I somehow win the Melo sweepstakes. I re-sign Crawford and Yi and then sign J.R. Smith (instead of Nick Young). I also sign Prezybilla to spell McGee. Here is what my team looked like at the start of year two:
                            PG- Wall, Heinrich
                            SG- Jamal Crawford, J.R. Smith
                            SF- Carmelo Anthony, Chase Budinger
PF- Josh Smith, Yi Jialian, Booker, Seraphin
                            C- McGee, Przybilla

                            More to come!

I love nba 2k11! I'm a die hard golden state fan even though they havent been great since the new ownership and court and jersey i decided to take a franchise with them. I start out with a great back court i don't need to do a thing with them. I decided our front cort is cutting it with beindrins inconsitency so i trade beindrins and a 2nd round pick for Marcus Camby from portland. It gives me a good short term team. I'm hoping to get a good definsive center in the draft but so far this season I have done great i have the 6th seed in the west going 48-37 whcih is a major improvement i faced Dallas in the first round they were hard to beat in a 7 game series but Monta Eliis on fire and Nowitzki went 6/21 just wasnt enough in game 7. I go on to face the Thunder the 2 seed and manage to get wright to play great defense and sweep them on durant. Plus westbrook got hurt in game one so i got lucky as far as facing the 1 seed lakers i didn't stand a chance against gasol i put marcus camby on him for the last half of the series which wasnt good enough so they beat me in a 4-2 series lakers go on to finals and lose to the celtics 4-1 Marcus camby still hasn't retired I'm going to do the draft i have the #6 pick bc i had traded a no body for clipppers I hope to get Enes Kanter who's overall is 76 but after i work with him in preason i see him probably going to be a 80 but thats if i get him? what you guys think btw i know the playoffs was a bunch of luck and bs

                                Not possible without forcing it.
