Chicago Bulls - Year 2 Update

My year 1 season ended absolutely horribly. In my 2nd round matchup against the Celtics I lost Derrick Rose (ankle) and Joakim Noah (back) for the season. And no surprise lost the series.

Boston Celtics ended up meeting the Los Angeles Lakers once again in a series where LA recovered down 3-1 to win 4-3. Kobe Bryant was the MVP.

I play all games in year 1 - regular season and Playoffs. After year 1 I just play some regular season games and all Playoff games if Playoffs apply. With that here are the year 2 off-season headliners.

Does anyone else who uses Curry in this game have a hard time getting anyone but Curry the MVP? Dude can shoot the 3 like its nobodies business and he can pass with precision leading to tons of assists.... his numbers get him MVP almost every game!

I'm in year 1 still...in the Western Conference Semifinals with my Rockets. #1 seed...

Played Clippers in round 1: Won 4-0
Playing Thunder in second round: Lead 2-1 (won back to back overtime games after OKC took game 1)

Made a trade early in the season for 83 overall Danny Granger...took me a little while but I found his jumper.

So I decided last week that I was gonna make a Kings Association in honor of my team while they're going through some very tough times. What I did was sim the 2010-2011 season since we weren't going anywhere this year, but I know that in the off-season we would have hella cap space. During the season I traded PF Jason Thompson to the Pistons for PF Charlie Villanueva and their 2011 1st round pick. There was probably another piece in that trade but I can't remember so who cares lol. If I can recall that was the only trade I made during the season and we ended up finishing 30-52, last in the Pacific. Like I said, this season was a wash, but that's fine because it was the 2012 I was aiming for.

So here comes the rebuilding. I let a decent number of guys go who were on their last years of their contract, including Marcus Thornton while keeping guys like Garcis, Casspi, Udrth, and even Jermaine Taylor. The lottery comes by and I not only get the second pick in the draft, but because Detroit decided to part ways with their pick for JT, their pick turned into the third overall pick. You really couldn't do much better than that.

Before the draft starts, I trade that 3rd overall pick plus Charlie V to the Hawks for Josh Smith. Now I got my PF for the future. Next, PG. The Clippers has the first pick and they selected Derrick Williams, leaving me to pick Kyrie Irving with the no.2 pick I had. Boom that's squared away and now my starting lineup is set. Next, the bench. I signed Shannon Brown off free agency to be my sixth man and also signed Louis Amundson to back up Smith as well as provided well-needed rebounding, defense, and hustle. After these moves, I still had $3.14 mil of cap space left.

Once I did all that, my lineup coming into the 2011-12 season looks like this:

                    PG Irving/Udrih/I.Shumpert
                    SG Evans/S.Brown/Taylor
                    SF Casspi/Garcia/D.Greene
                    PF J.Smith/Amundson/Marcus Morris
                    C Cousins/Dalembert

Not bad if I say so myself. Only thing is that Tyreke Evans tore his MCL in the previous season and that has stretched into this season. Also Shannon Brown got hurt on the first game of the season starting for Evans so both are gonna be out for another 1-2 weeks. Good news is despite that I'm 3-1 and just came off a dominating 96-68 win over the Mavs. I also have a convincing win against the Lakers by 16 points with Donte Greene starting at the two since Garcia was a little dinged up. So with all that said....how did I do?

I decided to redo my Kings franchise from scratch. Probably done this twice already lol but I wanted to stay true to real life somewhat with the draft prospects as guys like Harrison Barnes were in my league association, plus once Evans came back from injury the lineup of Irving/Evans/Casspi/J.Smith/Cousins didnt have good chemistry as I tried to get everyone their points. So here I go again for the last time hopefully.

Traded Jason Thompson, '12 1st and '11 2nd for Charlie Villanueva, '11 1st, and a '12 first.(unrealistic? maybe). Traded Casspi for I think J.J. Barea.(might have been a couple other pieces in that trade but I don't remember). Finished last in the Pacific Division, can't remember the record right now but it was near the bottom of the league. Tyreke at least made his first All-Star game in 2011. Heat win the Title. LeBron is league MVP

At the draft lottery I got the 1st pick and the 6th pick(from DET). Drafted Kyrie Irving and traded the 6th pick, Charlie V and '12 1st from DET to Hawks for Josh Smith and their 16th pick which went into drafting Kenneth Faried. In FA I signed Shannon Brown and Louis Amundson like before except this time I also signed Luc Mbah a Moute to takeover Casspi's old spot. Now my lineup is this...

                    PG Irving/Udrih/Head
                    SG Evans/S.Brown/Taylor
                    SF Mbah a Moute/Garcia/Greene
                    PF J.Smith/Amundson/Faried
                    C Cousins/Dalembert

This is the last time I'm redoing this. To note, Terrance Jones was drafted in my Association, but he made his decision to stay in school a lil too late. So far into the 2012 season the Kings are 6-1.

The time has come for ONLINE ASSOCIATION MODE

This is long overdue and EA's Online Dynasty in NCAA and Online Franchise in Madden are very popular and have stolen 2ks light in the online features department.

I've said this many time before. I believe Association mode is currently the best overall when choosing between NCAA, Madden and NBA2k (or Elite). But the simple fact that it is NOT online is a major impediment.

We should not need a thread like this, "How Is your Assoc doing"?.....we should be able to easily see your ONLINE Assoc thru the corresponding websites (like Online Leagues currently).....I'm dieing for the day I can start an ONLINE Assoc with all 30 coaches filled in, draft, and run my team (Cs!! lol) for multiple seasons until the following version of the game is released. The days of the current 1-and-done season online lgs are the way of the dinosaurs.

ONLINE ASSOCIATION MODE is a MUST for 2k12

Year 3 of my Minnesota association. Currently 11-2 (played 3, simmed 10).

                          Ricky Rubio/Jonny Flynn
                          Shannon Brown/Raja Bell
                          Wesley Johnson/Lazar Hayward/Dorrell Macy (59ovr, doesn't play)
                          Kevin Love/Anthony Randolph
Darko Milicic/Nikola Pekovic/Anthony Toliver (usually starts, but has a broken wrist)

The #1 rated team in the league now is actually the Clippers. However they're currently 2-11.

The rosters I have are from earlier in the season when Brooks was 81 overall...

                            PG - Lowry
SG - Martin/Lee/L. Stephenson (had to include him in the Granger deal...only 60 ovr anyway)
SF - Granger/Budinger/Williams (T-Will runs point for me when K-Low gets too tired)
                            PF - Scola/Hill/Patterson
                            C - Yao/Hayes

Yao was still active/"might come back" when I started this...so think about how long I've procrastinated with this.

I started up a 29 game association (I know, I know...) awhile ago with the Thunder. Playing 8 min quarters on All-Star with some slider adjustments Kept the team in tact as it was with a roster file I downloaded in December.

The Thunder went 23-6 in the regular season, Durant averaged 25.7 points per game, Westbrook averaged 16.9 with 9.8 assists. Nabbed the #1 seed in the Western Conference.

The West looked pretty good as the Nuggets, Lakers, Mavs, Suns, Blazers, Grizzlies, and Jazz rounded out the seeds. In the East, it was a chaotic mess. The Heat got the #1 seed and the Magic got the #2. After that, all hell broke loose as the Raptors had the #3, followed by the Pacers, Nets, Bulls, Cavaliers, and Bucks (EWWW).

The playoffs are a 5-5-5-5 format. I swept the Jazz, knocked out the Mavs 3-1, followed by the Lakers 3-1. I've definitely had my fair share of close games as Game 1 against Utah went into Overtime and I nearly blew it with missed free throws. I closed out the Lakers in Game 4 with Durant and Westbrook, as they both went on a tear to end the game. Durant has been averaging 24 points in the playoffs while Westbrook has stepped up his game from the regular season and is averaging 20 points and 10 assists.

The East...smh. The Heat and Magic advanced past the first round easily, but the Heat lost in 4 games to the Nets, while the Magic got swept by the Raptors (WTF). So yes...your Eastern Conference Finals featured the Nets vs the Raptors, with their rosters featuring essentially the same players as on the default file. The Raptors advanced in 5 games to have the right to face off against the #1 overall seed, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

I havent finished the series yet, but the first two games have been ugly. Won both games at home by 15+ points to go up 2-0 in the series. Hopefully I'll close them out on the road in the next game and win a championship.

I really wanna try and do an association where the New Orleans Hornets move to Seattle and become the Sonics, leaving the Hornets name to come back to Charlotte... but I'm not quite sure how I would do that in all honesty.

What I'll probably end up doing is taking my Bobcats and going through the first two years simming, then create myself in a draft class as a SG or a SF that is one of the best players in his class, and then try and build a team around myself. I've done it multiple times before and its really fun every time.
