Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

My Sixers went to 2-1 last night, beating the Nets by 22.

Marcus Morris is the reald deal and Marc Gasol, despite early foul trouble again managed 18pts, 11 reb, 5 blocks. What a beast he is for me.

Having trouble shooting with Iggy early in the season, but Turner is hitting all kinds of shots.

Started a Nuggets association a few weeks backs but only had time to play 2 games. First game of season against TWolves was close one, winning by 3 points. Second game vs Utah we lost by 2 points Lawson missed buzzer beater. This association im playing 10 minute quarters, Allstar sim. Im trying to turn Ty Lawson into a star.

Playing on AllStar/Sim - Clutch Factor ON, FT Shooting: Real Player %

Using the Nets - Played 22 games so far, simulating only two. Record is 10-14, last 10 games 5-5, got them up to 76 overall.

          Players
Brook Lopez currently top 5 Center in the league (ranked 5th) and in the top 50 of the best players in the league (ranked 41st). My goal is to make him atleast #2 behind Dwight Howard.

Brook Lopez 20.0 points per game, leads the league in Blocks with 3.5.

Lopez 2nd behind Dwight Howard in All Star voting in the East.

          ----------

Deron Williams was player of the week November 14th-20th: he also currently leads the EAST in All Star votes with 1,107,136!

          ----------

Travis Outlaw is a big contribution to my team, since I am using the 11-25 roster set, he had very good shot attributes and he is currenty 72 overall. 15.5 points per game, hes developing into a dominator. He has a big contract and he has been playing like he deserves it.

          ---------

Anthony Morrow is still developing for me, he needs to be more consistent and he is my best shooter by far but he can NEVER get open. Averaging 11.1 points per game.

          Games
Currently on a 3 game win streak, defeated Atlanta, Dallas, and Lakers - now I am going on to play the 76ers to continue the streak.

Team Chemistry is at 28%, hoping to get to atleast 40 by the end of December.

My kings dropped 4 straight, and just fired our head coach and replaced him with a new, younger Alex Best.

Looking to try and get a win against the Nuggets next. Follow my association by clicking my signature!

Exciting association so far. Lost my first 4 games straight with the Kings, and managed to snag an OT win against the Nuggets by one point.

Fired my head coach and traded for Jameer Nelson. Check it out on my blog! I would really like the comments of others to see how I'm doing.

Try rebuilding a team thats currently bad. Remember your main goal is to rebuild them into a championship contending team. If you quit, you give up on yourself and fell short of a goal that is possible.

I was excited to get eliminated by the Bostons in the Eastern semis since I had plans on getting Melo and CP3 in the off-season. Things changed.... I had to cheat a lil for Melo but who cares? he was in the Knicks already... In the off-season I figured I stay with Billups to help me out on offense until the 3rd year where I'll try to make a run for a star PG to compliment Melo and Amare...I also aquired Kyle Korver to bring in a scorer off the bench and also picked up Chris 'birdman' anderson...Balkman...and Etan Thomas to help me out on defense...

                  PG- BILLUPS
SG- DARELLE SUMMERS (22nd pick from Michigan State)
                  SF- MELO

In the second year, I'm off to a sluggish start 14-13 surprisingly in 1st place in the division. Things are picking up though I'm 7-3 in my last 10 and averaging 26.2 ppg 7.3 rpg with Melo... I hope to make another run for the playoff this year hopefully make it to Eastern Finals and see what happens from there... and hopefully make the ASG with Melo and Stoudamire...
To keep it legit I play 12 mins a qrtr HOF sim.
I like what you doin with the team, I have a Knicks chise to. Melo is knockdown on that transition 3. The only thing is CP3 just caught his 3 injury this season and were only 19 games in.

I am trying to rebuild the team around Evans and Cousins (and maybe Thornton), but I am trying to keep it realistic. I am trying to get through the first season quick so I can rebuild through FA and the Draft so I am using a play one, sim 2 format which equals out to 27 games played.

We are currently 9-9 despite early injuries to Jason Thompson and Donte Green. My plan is to get to the offseason and use the draft and free agency to pick up a starting caliber SF and PF. We have a lot of expiring contracts so I expect to be very active in Free Agency.
                  Good luck dude.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Started an association with the Houston Rockets! A good market, and a middle-of-the-road team that on one end has a lot of young prospects as well as older players. You can do a lot with this roster, and they have no Stars with Yao basically gone. You can either try and get some pieces to put them over the top, or blow it up, get as many rebuilding pieces as possible, and start off new.

I used Rowe's 2011 draft class, i like his for the most part aside from some of the tendencies and potentials of a big men, but i usually scale a lot of the big men potentials down to match my roster's low scale after the draft by 10 or so.
No actual trades were done during the 1st season, CPU trading off.
I did, however, use trade override and 3 team trades to make all of the 1st round pick trades (Clipps to Cavs, Nets to Jazz, Hawks to Wizards, Blazers to Bobcats, Hornets to Blazers, Chicago having the Heat 1st [Acquired by Raptors in the James Johnson trade], Grizz 1st to Wolves, Lakers 1st to Nets, and last but not least, Houston having Orlando's 1st [Acquired from Suns in Aaron Brooks trade]). I did forget, however, that I had the right to switch 1sts with the Knicks, but oh well.

Also, since Yao's career is basically over and he was injured all year, I released him prior to starting the franchise and made his age 45, 27yrs pro, and with a 25OVR so he was a non factor like in real life.

Went 42-40 in the Regular Season, 7th in the West.
Grizzlies surprisingly had the #1 seed in the West.
                        Celtics #1 in East.
Grizzlies and Celtics were Conference Champs.
                        Celtics won finals 4-1.
                        Rondo was Finals MVP.
                        Lebron was Season MVP.
                        D-12 was DPOY
                        JJ HIckson won most improved
                        Lou Williams won 6th man
                        John Wall won ROTY
Doc Rivers won Coach of the Year

                        Offseason

Extended Adelman for 1 more year, as I saw nothing in the coaching carousel that was really intriguing for a long term deal and I like him as a coach.

After thinking things through, I realized that some things just needed change. The roster was gonna either be stuck at the bottom 2 seeds in the playoff, or just outside of it, getting mediocre picks, and with K-Mart and Scola locked up for a few years. Realizing that this roster wouldn't win a championship, it was time to blow it up and rebuild.

There were a lot of trades for specific pieces I wanted, and I think I did a good job trying to keep it as fair and logical as possible with my trades.

Trade 1: Rockets - Kyle Lowry (80, to TOR), Goran Dragic (72, to TOR), Jordan Hill (72, to PHO [He also played his college ball at Arizona]), Orl 2011 1st
Raptors - Andrea Bargnani (77, to HOU), Jerry Bayless (74, to HOU)
Suns - Robin Lopez (71, to TOR)

Justification: A 6 player trade that has reasoning for every team. In real life, rumor is that the Raptors aren't asking much for Barg, and they Acquire a good PG in Lowry, and another good player who can play the 1 or 2 in Dragic from Houston, as well as a legit center in a fast paced offense in Robin Lopez from Phoenix. This allows Barg to play his PF position instead of C, and also opens up minutes for Amir Johnson and Ed Davis, while getting a legit center with potential in Lopez, as well as a late 1st. This gives them a pick, clears up minutes, gets them a starting point, a role player, gets rid of a 4yr, 40mil contract, etc. The Suns are going in the direction of Marcin Gortat and cant give lopez minutes, and they are in need of a legit PF and get a nice prospect in Jordan Hill. They didn't really win big in this trade, but they didn't lose. As Houston, I aim to go big with my offense. Bayless is a guy I've followed since his high school days, and I'm hoping to develop him into an all-star caliber PG with defensive development drills and the combo guard workout in the offseason. I also get a legit 7ft PF who can stretch the floor and create space for Bayless, Martin, and 6th Man Terrance Williams. Only problem is that I need a defensive dynamo at C to go along with Barg.

Trade 2: Houston - Luis Scola (78 to MIL)
Milwaukee - Larry Sanders (69 to Hou)

Justification: In my roster, Sanders doesn't have a real inflated potential and Milwaukee needs more offensive production from anywhere, and they are very weak at the 4.
Enter Luis Scola, who can produce well on the offensive end of the floor at a good price, a defensive minded PF/C who wasn't even a lottery pick the year before and didn't really impress to much in his rookie year. As Houston, I like Sander's defense, and am definitely NOT thrilled with Thabeet. He's got good size at 6'11", a young and astounding Perimeter defender for a C (B-) and a good Post Defender (B) as well as a solid rebounder (B), which will need work with how weak Barg is on the boards. He won't be thrown in there immediately, but I hope to develop him a bit and fill the C with a veteran for a year or two. I like the Frontcourt combo of Barg and Sanders in the future.

Trade 3: Houston - Courtney Lee (74, to CHI)
Chicago - Ronnie Brewer (73, to Houston)

Justification: I personally love this trade. Courtney Lee is a Perfect fit for the bulls, and I didn't have plans for him in the future. He is a really good shooter for D-Rose to kick it out to which is something that they obviously need right now at the 2, and he plays very good defense as well. They were also trying to trade for Lee before the deadline. They lose Brewer, but with Deng at the 3, they spread brewers minutes between Bogans and Korver and it allows Korver to play his natural position of SF more often. I wanted Brewer because I really wanted a good sized, lock down wing defender that wasn't Battier, who we just traded away. Especially since I already have Martin, Bargnani, and Bayless in my starting 5, and that trio will demand the ball a lot, so i needed a guy who could just know his role on offense and be a lockdown defender on D.

Trade 4: Houston - Brad Miller, 2nd round pick
LA Lakers - Devin Ebanks, Luke Walton

Justification: I really just wanted Ebanks. He has great size and is a very athletic SF who can defend. Him being 6'9" as well really got me, since size is very, very important in what I want to do. This was more of a long term investment. I gave the Lakers some frontcourt depth with brad miller, a 2nd, and took on the contract of Luke Walton.

Trade 5: Houston - Chase Budinger
                        Bobcats - 2011 1st (Portland) - Pick 24

Justification: I didn't want to get rid of Budinger, but I also wanted Ebanks to get minutes and develop. At 24, I saw a prospect I liked as a rotation player, Justin Harper from Richmond. An athletic, 6'10" PF who can face up and shoot. He is another stretch 4 who can score and will make a good role player as well as create space for Martin, Bayless, and Terrance Williams.

That is it for the trades. A lot of player movement blowing the team up, and I don't like the amount of trades, but I felt it necessary to get the pieces i want and I feel I did well for every party involved, and I also created some interesting movement. I plan to keep many of the players I acquired for a long time, hoping they develop well.

                        Draft
Cleveland won #1 and #2 in the Lottery, followed by Toronto at #3, Utah at #4, and Indiana at #5

Cleveland took Irving and Williams, which I LOVE.
Toronto pulled a surprise move, moving the #3 pick to Memphis for OJ Mayo, and that pick turned into Enes Kanter (They wound up losing Marc Gasol in Free Agency, so it wasn't all that stupid).
                        Utah took Brandon Knight.
                        Indiana took Jan Vesely

                        My Picks : 17 - Josh Selby
                        24 - Justin Harper

I hope for selby to become a jason terry type. He is also another PG prospect who could MAYBE be a starter in time, but the main idea is instant scoring from the bench. Harper was explained earlier.

                        Other Notables:
                        6 - Alec Burks
                        7 - Kemba Walker
Jimmer to the Suns as well as Donatas Motiejunas, idr the trade they did to get that pick. Kinda pissed me off, though, but he was late teens and kind of a boom or bust pick that goes well with their system.

                        Free Agency
My signings: JJ Barea, Samuel Dalembert

Logic: Simple, needed a role guy to play the point before putting Selby out there and also needed a vet at center who was a monster on the boards and the defensive end, and Dalembert was a perfect fit with good size at 6'11"

I wound up cutting Thabeet because I couldn't give him minutes nor assign him to the D-League anymore and just waived walton and ate his contract for the next 2 years, since he wouldn't even be in the rotation and I wouldn't know how to move it with how much I like everyone on it at the moment.

Other Notables : The F/A was really weak, but one team made a pretty big splash. The Nets! They signed Marc Gasol (which caused me to move Lopez to the 4, which could potentially work), and Caron Butler on the Wing. Their starting 5 is now

                        PG - Deron - 88
                        SG - Morrow - 70
                        SF - Caron - 77
                        PF - Brooke Lopez - 78
                        C - Marc Gasol - 79

Idk whether to say they are a contender or not, but they really did a lot to improve their team dramatically with those signings.

Another thing I like, is how the Raptors Starting 5 ended up. I feel that Mayo and Derozan, although they both want the ball, compliment each other very well.

                        PG - Lowry - 80
                        SG - Mayo - 77
                        SF - DeRozan - 79
                        PF - Amir Johnson - 74, Ed Davis - 72
                        C - Robin Lopez - 71

Before year 2, here is what my Lineup looks like:
                        PG - Bayless, Barea, Selby
                        SG - K-Mart, Williams, Selby
                        SF - Brewer, Willaims, Ebanks
                        PF - Bargnani, Patterson, Harper
                        C - Dalembert, Sanders

                        Now, on to year 2!

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Man I'm having trouble shooting with my Sixers at the moment. Just can't hit any threes right now. Playing on SIM.

Had some time yesterday, got in 3 games. Beat the Pacers by 10. Beat the Bulls by 5!
Lost in Oklahoma by 18 after leading 27-8 after the first quarter.

Holiday is having a nightmare start to his season, too many turn overs, bad FG %.
Lou Williams now broke his wrist and will be out for 6 weeks -.-
He and Vujacic are my only consistent 3pt shooters. Due to Holiday's bad start and that I will look to add a PG via FA.

                          so after 6 games I'm 3-3.

                          Positive so far:
                          - Marc Gasol trade has paid of big time. What a beast. 6 consecutive DD!
                          - Drafting Marcus Morris was BIG! Getting more minutes every game, thinking about trading Elton Brand (and his big contract) because Morris is doing so well and Brand ....well he isn't.
                          - Lou Williams..hitting threes

                          Negative

                          - Elton Brand's shooting, consistency
                          - Turner's consistency
                          - Holiday's start to the season
                          - Williams' injury
                          - Vujacic's consistency, hits 3 threes in a row just to go ZERO the next game
                          - Iggy's shooting

I will keep Iggy because he is a leader for my team and a good defender. He also adds a few WOW moments via spectacular dunks to get the team going at times. His shooting will hopefully improve.

Now as I said, I might listen to offers for Elton Brand, don't know who to trade for though, any suggestions?
Maybe an older vet, because I'm looking to increase Marcus Morris' minutes

                            C - Marc Gasol - 79

                            Now, on to year 2!
I loved the post man very in depth. Quick question where did Kemba Walker get drafted to, from my understanding you didn't state that.

Also keep the thread updated with results and news from your association, I like this.

Quick update I played a game vs the Wizards a little while before the OKC Mavs Playoff game started. I got blownout by 20. I beat this Wizards team in a previous meeting this season, but they just ran out of the gate and never looked back. I believed they out scored me 27-14 1st Q. There Roster is sick tho

                            Wizards:
                            John Wall
                            Tyler Honeycutt
                            Rashard Lewis
                            Thad Young
                            Javal McGee

SMFH they killed me all game, forced it in the paint. I check gametrack and that they were shooting horrible from the outside, changed up my defense to force the outside shot didn't work lol.

To be honest you could go after Drew Gooden. He's a solid scorer and the asking price should be cheap.

Just lost a thriller to Denver... I was like 12 down with 2 minutes to go and lost by 2... Rider scored 18 in the last 2:03... and then I accidentally left the game before I could save the highlights... absolutely SHATTERED... 25 - 6 is my record now... not unhappy to lose, was a great game made harder by an in game injury when i only had 10 healthy men in the first place... meant i had no time out with 3 seconds to go when trying to get game winner off... just shattered... but what a fun game to play.
