Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Just played the craziest game of my Association. After suffering our first loss of the season against the Pistons, we looked to bounce back in our home opener against the Knicks. Tyreke had a bad game against the Pistons but he bounced back in a big way.

After falling behind quickly 7-0, our offense started clicking and we closed the 1st quarter with a 35-26 lead. Oh yea, and Tyreke had 22 points already! He was just making everything. He hit a couple mid range js early, got to the FT line, and he even made 2 contested 3s. He ended the 1st with 22 points on 8-9 shooting.

So we go through most of the game with around a 10 point lead. They would go on a run and cut it close, and we would come right back and extend it back to double digits. Evans slowly cooled off but he still went into the 4th quarter with 32 points. In the 4th, Evans went ice cold, missing about 6 shots in a row, but Cousins carried the load on offense.

We led 111-100 with 4 minutes left and were on our way to our first home victory when the Knicks caught fire. They started making everything and were getting to the free throw line. Cousins fouled out with 3 minutes left and our offense went ice cold. They were draining everything and we couldnt buy a bucket, as they went on a quick 10-0 run.

With just under 30 seconds left, Evans missed another good look and they got the ball down 111-110. The shot clock and game clock were separated by half a second so they had a chance to win the game on the last shot. They gave it to former King Marcus Thornton to shoot a 3 but Evans blocked the shot! Thaddeus Young recovered it with 7 seconds left and was fouled. After draining both the Knicks called timeout and drew up one final play down 3.

They inbounded it to a wide open Carmelo Anthony in the corner. To no one's surprise, he drained the 3 to tie the game with 4 seconds left. Just a few minutes ago, it looked like the Kings would cruise to a win, but now they had the ball with 4 seconds left and a tie game.

We called timeout to advance the ball for the final play. Odom inbounds to Jimmer, quick pass to Evans at the right wing. He pump fakes, Thornton goes flying by, takes one one dribble to the right, pulls up for the wide open look, it's in at the buzzer! The Kings win 115-113.

Evans finished the game with 38 points, 6 assists on 14-24 shooting. 8-8 fts.
Cousins had 20 and Jimmer chipped in with 12.
Carmelo led the comeback with 34 and 9 but the Knicks fell short and are now a disapointing 0-3 on the season.

The 3-1 Kings will be hosting the LA Lakers next to face the other former King, Jason Thompson. Lamar Odom will look to break out of his early season slump against his former team.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Finally got to starting up this Cavs association. I tried controlling all 30 teams and Jesus christ that's the most difficult thing in the world. With the CPU messing up your minutes, injuries during simulation, having to fix rotations after injuries, catering to those who's upset I just gave it a finger in the middle. So I ditched the 30 teams and just started one with Cleveland.

Quick Recap of the year:LBJ won MVP(What a shocker) John Wall won ROY him and Blake battled out for it all season, Aaron Brooks won 6th man of the year, Defensive player was Dwight, Jrue Holliday was most improved and Coach of The Year was Erik Spolestra.

The Finals was a awkward one it was the Mavericks representing the West and the Charlotte Bobcats representing the East, yes I said Bobcats. Charlotte got swept tho. Jason kid won Finals MVP averaging 9 points and 8.7 assist.

We finished off 37-45 -_- I wanted a lower record for a better chance at the #1 pick, we got the 10th pick and our pick from the Clippers was #16. So I drafted Tyler Honeycutt first, then at 16 I drafted Jordan Hamilton. With the 16th pick I did want to get a Center, but no Center was worth the pick so I drafted Hamilton as trade bait, but ended up keeping him. My lack of production at Center cause me to sign FA Deandre Jordan. Hickson was a beast this year he averaged 17 points, 8 boards and 1 block.

The CPU made some dickhead trades, that was tottally unrealistic. I simmed past the deadline not remembering I had to make them realistic by sending picks and etc. I seriously think the 2K AI has a OBSESSION with having multiple PG's Clippers traded for JJ Barea after having Mo Williams, Bledsoe and Foye in their backcourt. ATL drafted Darius Morris when they have Hinrich and Teague. Washington drafted Kyle Irving -____- because they had the number one pick, when I seen them with the first pick I was hoping they wouldn't choose him and they did smfh. I don't see the point unless there gonna go with a small lineup and run a Wall/Irving at PG and SG, I don't see that working tho. Jazz drafted Kemba Walker and they already have Devin Harris. The Kings drafted Jimmy Ferdette, they all ready have Aaron Brooks, Telfair, and Eugene Jeter. There is no logical point for having that much talent in your backcourt, when the regular season starts I'm gonna resign to them quickly and do something with that smh. Lakers have D. Fisher, Steve Blake, then they drafted Malcom Lee and Corey Joseph. Also the Wolves now have Bayless, Udrih and Ridnour. Portland has Andre Miller, Iverson, Nolan Smith, Armon Johnson and Josh Selby.

      My current lineup is:
      PG
      Baron Davis 71 OVR
      Mike Bibby 67
      Daniel Gibson 59

      SG
      Sam Young 66
      Alonzo Gee 63

      SF
      Tyler Honeycutt 69
      Jordan Hamilton 69
      Josh Childress 64

      PF
      JJ Hickson
      Antwan Jamison 70

      C
      Deandre Jordan
      Andy Verajou(sp)
      Semih Erden

The reason for the low OVR is cause the rosters I use have them all generally low. I had traded Sessions, Manny Harris for Josh Childress seeing that the Suns desperately needed a 2 guard. So what do you guys think of my roster, how you think we will do? I wanted to build a defensive running team, I think I did just that.

        here is my 2012 Grizzlies:

        Evans / Vasquez
        Harden / Mayo
        Gay / Battie
Randolph / Laur (PF from wisconsin)
        Gasol / Laur

Pretty good stuff. Don't know if I like Evans at PG for permanent but perhaps I can package Mayo and somebody for a legit PG and move Evans to SG

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

A couple of weeks ago I got the urge to start up a new Bobcats association... but I just couldn't figure out where I wanted to go with it. But upon watching a couple of Jordan's old games on ESPN Classic, playing the Jordan Challenge, and things like that I got a brilliant idea. I took Jordan's attributes from the 85-86 Bulls in the game and copied them down, and created myself (After this referred to as Potter) as a SG in a draft class with the same attributes.

** I only play the post-season games, and I sim all the regular season ones.

Year one was alright, we finished 34-48, and missed the playoffs by a couple of games. The Heat beat the Mavericks in 6 games to take the title, with LeBron being Finals MVP, and Derrick Rose won regular season MVP. Potter wasn't in the first draft class, and so I took Kemba Walker when he fell to me at #9 (I made all of the lottery picks reflect as in real life), and snagged G/F David Lighty out of OSU in the second. I traded my #19 pick to the Pistons for their 1st rounder in 2012.

2011-12 started off horrifically, as Stephen Jackson hurt his shoulder and missed the first 25 games of the year as we started off 6-19. Kemba shouldered the scoring load for us, and Tyrus Thomas and D.J. Augustin being the two other options he had out there. Captain Jack played about 20 games for me before I dealt him to the Bulls in a 3-team trade for their first round pick, and Larry Sanders from Milwaukee. We ended up actually finishing pretty decently, at 36-46, and Kemba won Rookie of the Year averaging 26.1 points per game for me. Two big deadline deals shook the NBA, with Dwight Howard ending up in LA and Chris Paul ending up as a Knick. The Bulls met the Rockets in the Finals, and won it 4-1. Derrick Rose again won MVP during the regular season, and added a Finals MVP to his resume as well.

Come the lottery, I ended up with the 13th pick, but via a couple of trades I had previously made I also had Portland's pick at #17 and the Bulls pick at #27. I dealt all 3 picks along with D.J. Augustin to the Jazz, who won the lottery, to move up and take Potter at #1 overall. Made a seperate deal with the Jazz in which I gave them Gerald Henderson, and my current second rounder for Gordon Heyward, since they had just taken Harrison Barnes. I also made a big trade with the Celtics, giving them my current first rounder from the Pistons at #9 in exchange for their first and second next year.

2012-13 was quite a good year, Potter exploded onto the scene (I mean he's a virtual copy of a young MJ, how could he not?) and carried my team to a playoff berth, and we finished 41-41, and got the 7th overall seed, and Potter won the scoring title averaging 31.3 points per game and was an All-Star + Rookie of the Year. We lost to the Bulls in 5 games in the first round though, but Potter averaged 33 points per game and had a 49 point outburst in Game 4 to stave off elimination, albiet only for one game. Tyrus Thomas had a fairly good year and ended up being 1st Team All-Defense. Ended up being the Bulls and the Grizzlies in the NBA Finals, with the Grizz taking home the title in 6 thanks to Finals MVP Mike Conley. LeBron James won his 3rd MVP of his career, and first since 2010, although the Heat were stunned in the first round by the Celtics in 6 games.

The off-season of 2013 was quite the interesting one for the Bobcats, as it saw the a flurry of changes to put a team around Potter. On draft day, Former ROY Kemba Walker was dealt, along with the Bobcats first round pick, and the Hawks first round, to the Raptors, who had the highest percentage of a chance to win the lottery but went a different route once they fell to the 4th overall pick, along with the expiring contract of Jose Calderon. The Bobcats saw their man and their opportunity and took Kentucky star Michael Gilchrist, the "Pippen to Potter's Jordan" as many referred to it. Later in the draft, they used the #27 overall pick they had from the Celtics the year before to snag C Amir Williams out of OSU, as well as SF DeShaun Thomas in the 2nd round out of OSU.

The Cavs were quietly putting together a good team at this time as well... they had taken the Kyrie Irving and Enes Kanter tandem in the first round in 2011 and saw them flourish for their first two years with Kanter being an all-star and Most Improved in 2012-13, and they had added Jared Sullinger to man the PF spot in the draft at #6 overall in 2012, along with signing SF Danilo Gallinari and SG Courtney Lee in free agency in 2013, and they were considered to be a dark horse to make some noise in the East in 2013, but little did the NBA know what would happen in the year to come...

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

The 2013-14 season would prove to be one of growth for the Bobcats. Potter continued to put up huge numbers and was again an all-star and even won Defensive Player of the Year for his efforts on the defensive end. Gilchrist and Williams were slowly worked into the lineup, and for the majority of the year the lineup was Calderon/Potter/Heyward/Sanders/Thomas. Potter averaged 31.9 points per game and won another scoring title. The Bobcats finished 8th in the East and just barely snagged the last playoff spot at 44-38, and their opponent in the first round was, surprisingly, the Cleveland Cavaliers, who stunned the world by finishing at 64-18, with the NBA's best record.

Enes Kanter won the MVP for them, averaging 22 points, 13 boards, 4 assists, and 2 blocks per game, Kyrie Irving averaged 17 points, 9 assists, 2 steals and 3 rebounds per game, Jared Sullinger kicked in 16 points, 5 assists and 11 rebounds per game, and Gallinari and Courtney Lee provided solid offense as did Hickson off the bench. But all that youth and playoff inexperience ended up biting them in the butt, as the Cavs lost to the Bobcats in 6 games, thanks in large part to Brad Potter averaging 37 points per game in that series, but it was also keyed by Kanter averaging only 23 minutes per game in all of their losses as he battled foul trouble all series, with Potter neutralizing Irving and Tyrus Thomas absolutely manhandling Jared Sullinger defensively. The Bobcats unfortunately lost in the second round in 5 games to the Atlanta Hawks, with Potter finishing his second playoffs averaging 35 points per game, and the future looking brighter than ever. The Heat would go on to win the NBA title over the Grizzlies in 6 games, with LeBron taking his 2nd NBA Finals MVP trophy home.

The 2014 offseason saw the Bobcats say goodbye to a lot of players, with only seven of the guys that were on the roster returning: Potter, Thomas, Gilchrist, Williams, Thomas, Lighty, and Sanders. In free agency, they added Delonte West to man the PG spot, and Shane Battier to play good defense off the bench. They went for a defensive center in the draft, Brunneman, and also took a PG late in the first round named Korey Brown.

The 2014-15 season would be one full of promise for the Bobcats... Potter continued to take the NBA by storm, and got another All-star, a scoring title (33.1 points per game), and the league MVP trophy for his efforts. Gilchrist provided 14 points, 5 boards, and 6 assists in his first year starting, and Williams provided a solid defensive presence especially as Tyrus Thomas missed 51 games during the year. Sanders filled in admirably but he made it clear once Thomas was back that he wanted out, and that coming off the bench was not what he wanted. The Bobcats finished at 48-34, and got the 5th seed, leading to another series with the New York Knicks.

It was a great series, with Potter averaging 31 points per game, but the 3-stars of the Knicks just appeared to be too much for the young 'Cats. Then, something magical happened. Down by 14 with 7 minutes to go in Game 6, and down 3-2 in the series, Potter showed why he is the stuff of legends... to finish off the game, he went on a 23-8 scoring run by himself, and put in a game winning fadeaway with 1.3 seconds left in the game to win it 98-97. And he saved his best for game 7... Potter paced the 'Cats all game long, and behind his NBA playoff-record 66 points, they won the game 123-119 over the Knicks, with Gilchrist showing huge progress by putting in 26 points, and Amir Williams contributing 8 blocks to go along with 14 points and 10 boards.

Good stuff man. That team has a lot of potential to be a good fastbreak team like you said. I am also having that same problem with the overloaded backcourts in my Association.

The Clippers currently have 5 point guards. Mo Williams, Kemba Walker (Seriously why draft him?), Delonte West, Eric Bledsoe, and Willie Warren. 4 of the 5 are rated 70 or above and the dumbest part is, none of them start! They start Eric Gordon at pg so they basically have 6 point guards. Pretty funny that the Kings also got Jimmer in your association. I knew he was a good fit for them! Although I don't have Brooks in mine.

Wow that was a great read. Very interesting and unique approach using the next Jordan. Can't believe my Grizzlies won a title in just the 2nd season ha and it's cool to see who the best players in the league are 5 years into the game. I think you have a good shot at the title in your current playoffs with that roster but if not, you can definately make it next year. All you need is a decent PG which could be Brown and you are set for a dynasty.

I took Jordan's attributes from the 85-86 Bulls in the game and copied them down, and created myself (After this referred to as Potter) as a SG in a draft class with the same attributes.

Inspired... I have my regular play every game association, but I might try a rebuild of the Wolves using this style... try and keep trades reasonable... I'll probably develop players month to month though with drills... lol

And I'll add myself into the game... with some sort of rookie second coming attributes... lol

Thanks man! Yeah, I was a bit surprised as well when I saw the Grizz win it, but upon further inspection they are just ridiculously balanced. In addition to Conley and the guys they have currently, they also added J.R. Smith coming off the bench as well as a second round pick in Mason Plumlee that had a fantastic year that year.

I'm very excited about the squad I have now. With the matchup that we have we stand a good chance of winning the series with the Bulls. The thing I love the best is just that these guys know their roles... Potter is the superstar on both ends of the court, Gilchrist is coming into his own and developing an offensive game to go along with his amazing defense, and should be a great Robin someday, Amir is a great rebounder, and Tyrus Thomas plays lockdown defense, with West being a solid distributor and a good spot-up shooter. Off the bench I've got instant offense from DeShaun Thomas, and then 3-point shooting/defense from David Lighty, plus defense from Shane Battier.

Interesting thing I'm watching though is the Cleveland-Miami semi-final in the East right now. Should provide some interesting storylines to say the least haha

So the season started (and by the way i do the games on coach mode i guess i like coaching the games to) but ya during the first 2 weeks of the season we got off to a rough start.. and the raptors offered me there #1 pick that they picked and it was a PG Rated 79 and there 2nd rounder, but they wanted My PG Lowry, my first rounder this season, and Batum, this was a tough decision i like Batum and Lowry but Batum was only getting 18 mpg and starting to complain, i already had Matthews as the 6th man and Patterson getting mins, so i went for it, plus the PG they had was named kenny McCormick and he had a potential grade of A, and so does Patrick Patterson, so go future there, In my first game with McCormick he had 11 assist, good start, but Dallas was to much beating us 115-99,

Gerald Wallace had 22 and 10, Roy and Aldridge at half was a combined 4-17, we are right now struggling at 7-12 but theres alot of season left.. more to come

I see alot of people with a kyrie irving or jimmer ferdette are u guys just creating them and throwing them into the draft, and i also seen a jared sullinger. Jw ?

I see alot of players on here like to play the whole game or some will sim the games, and just adjust the minutes and coach profiles. I actually do both in one game. I do coach mode the first half and then sim the 2nd half.... It can be alil tricky, cause if u play a guy to much in the 1rst half, like say for example Iam using the Blazers, and i have Roy set at 36 minutes, well if i play him all 24 minutes in the first half, which i dont, but if i did, he would only play like 11-12 minutes in the 2nd half when i Sim the 2nd half, cause the cpu will do the minutes in the 2nd half based on what u have your players set at. But its not always good to play them only like 14 minutes in the first half and then hope the sim makes them kick butt in the 2nd half by having the guy like Roy simmed for 22 mins. So its kinda fun trying to strategies the minutes around.

One game i was getting blasted in the first half and there was like 3 minutes left in the first half and i was down 16, and i benched the starters the rest of the half so i could get more minutes outta them when i sim, But the Sim doesnt always work out, ive had games where i did better the first half on coach mode then when it simmed the 2nd half. and ive had games where i did better simming, I usually like to try to be up by atleast 8 or more going into the half, especially at home, i feel alil more comfortable when im simming the 2nd half. Anyways im about to do my next game. Ill post the stats for the first half on coach mode and then what we did in the 2nd half when simmed so u can kinda see and compare. I guess with this set up i just wanna see the world of play and sim in one game.. the stats still come out pretty real.

Had some time to play my Nuggets association. 17 games into season we had good wins against Lakers and Magic but some games were blown out by the Heat, Mavs and Bulls. We are currently 12-5 3rd in the West. Ty Lawson is currently averaging 15ppg and 8apg.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Only a newbie to the game but decided to create Hornets association. Rebuild the team around CP with mainly youth but also a but of experience. Have only owned the game a couple of days.

Played a few quick matches with NO and got a good feeling of the team. But I thought I'd get more of a reading if I started a trial association. As exhibition is one off thing where as this wil show me consistency etc. Basically I can use this mode to test my target trades that I am thinking of for when I begin my actual association.

Being a trial association, I decided I would put trade overide on, that said I wouldnt normally but this wil give me the chance to see which players really suit my system. As I said I'm looking to completely rebuild the side with youth so did a few trades and this is what my side looked like.

PG - Paul / Iverson (free) / Mills
SG- Evans / George / Created players
SF - Ariza / Clark / Hobson (free)
                              PF - West / Hickson / Thompson
                              C - Okafor / Hibbert / Sanders

I know some of these aren't even realistic at all and I know I've cheated to get some of them but as I said, I'm just using it as a trial.

Anyway first game at home against the Bucks, playing on pro (newbie) and 10 min quarters. Took me a while to get into the game and it ended with them winning 87 - 79. I really struggled to find a style, still getting used to the controls etc. I really struggled with Paul as well, only ended up with 9 points and 3 assists. Iverson was suprisingly best scorer with a mere 13 and 5 assists.

Jennings killed me with 23 points and 6 assists. Just couldn't shut him down. Maggette was really effective for them as well. Salmon went off injured in the second quarter.

As I said still struggling to find a style, wasn't really impressed by George or Hibbert but Clarke and Hickson look awesome. I'm gonna depend on Paul alot so need to figure how to get the best outta him.

Second game at home to the Nuggets. Blew me of the court in the first half but I rallied in the last quarter. Ended up losing 88 - 85 but geez it was an exciting last quarter. Being a newbie didn't know late fouling was on and it wasn't for giving FT's around I might have won it. Had the chance with Iverson to win pretty much clean on then break but missed the lay up at 83 80. Got fouled too so if I hit that and the two FT which I did, might have held on.

I know now too turn late fouling off. Iverson again topped scored for me with 18 and 6 assists. I still can't seem to get it right with Paul who ended up with 13 and 3 assists - 2/11 FG (shocking).

Nene smashed it for them with 24 and Smith behind him with 19. Still not liking George and I'm thinking of trading him and testing someone else at SG. I want someone young and who has a decent shot on them.

As I said I'm just testing players out so please no replys about trades not realistic etc. Cheers.

Portland had only one draft pick and it was the 15th pick in the draft. The Blazers selected PG Cedric Goodwin out of South Carolina. 6'3 200 a B grade for ball handling and C for basketball IQ. The Blazers sent him down to the Dleague with the Idaho Stampede.

In free agency The Blazer picked up Backup Point guard JJ Barea who played for Dallas last year losing in the Finals. And the Blazers got alil tougher inside trading for former Pacer/Jazz Tyler Hansbrough, He was traded mid season to the Jazz from the Pacers. And then Traded to the Blazers. Lots of moves by the Blazers and there was more to come.

Some side notes: In free agency Carmelo changed his mind and decided he does wanna be in New Jersey, after one season with the Knicks who also added at the deadline last season McGrady and Ben Wallace, the 5 former all stars of the Knicks, Carmelo, Amare,Billups, Wallace and McGrady could not get the Knicks past the 2nd round. Carmelo Signed with the Nets for 5 years and over 100 million dollars. He will play along side Derron Williams and Brook Lopez.... The Knicks went out and signed McGradys cousin Vince Carter.

there was not alot of big off season moves, Zach Randolph signed with the Suns.

So going into the 2011-12 Season the Blazers were poised to get back into the playoffs after missing it last season. On December 2nd the Blazer did a trade that landed them the #1 pick in the previous Draft, and it was a Point Guard, Kenny McCormick rated(79) from the Raptors along with Rashas McCants to the Blazers for PG Kyle Lowry,Pf Chris Wilcox, And the Blazers upcoming first round pick. Many think Portland got a steal in this trade, Adding a future all star PG, to go along with Roy, Wallace,Oden And Aldridge.

The Blazers do not lack depth either, Wesley Matthews is the 6th man and they also have another young full of potential played in Patrick Patterson that they got in a trade last season. Add in the depth off the bench in Barea and Hansbrough, The Blazers wanna be title or bust this season.

Blazers Starting lineup going into there 20th game with a poor start to there season (7-12) it will be a home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers(4-14)
