Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

So finally got my Bulls association underway, I am also continuing my Knicks one as well but the Bulls appeal to more. The original roster is pretty good but I wanted to make them into a genuine contender. The only person untradeable was Rose...and Noah at first. But things changed.

First off i waived Lucas and bought in Iverson on a 1.5 mil one year deal. It's a recurring theme to my associations lol.

Next I wanted to bring in a quality SG, which I believe is what the Bulls are lacking, I looked at a few; Rip, Iggy and Lee. But I decided I'd see what the Rockets would want for K-Mart. They offered me Jordan Hill, Luis Scola and K- Mart for Boozer, Asik and '11 1st round pick. I bit their hand off for that and pulled the trigger.

On the list next, was Demarcus Cousins. Kings offered him to me for Scola and '12 1st rounder. Yes please. Pulled the trigger.

I put Watson up to see what I could get for him and the Rockets offered me their '11 1st rounder. Maybe not realistic but hey if they offering why not? Pulled the trigger.

Next I went after T-Mac who could easily end up in Chicago after this season IRL, they wanted Pargo and my '12 2nd rounder for T-Mac and their '11 2nd rounder. Again didn't make alot of sense, but I accepted.

On the chopping block next was Bogans who I offered in Trade Finder. Again the Rockets wanted to do business offering me Chuck Hayes (one of their six centers) for Bogans. I accepted.

The Kings then offered me their '11 2nd rounder and their '12 2nd rounder for Brewer, which I gladly accepted.

I went on to sign Rashad McCants from FA, who has impressed me in NY association. Thought he could back Martin up quite easily.

Kurt Thomas and Jordan Hill were then traded to the Clippers for DeAndre Jordan. They also wanted my 2nd rounder so I accepted.

I made the biggest trade next, which I umed and ahed about for ages as it probably killed any chance of realism I had. Atlanta offered me Smith and Horford for Gibson, Deng and Noah (didn't wanna trade him but looked at the positives)

I then went on to trade Butler for Aj Price and Korver to Minnesota for one of their picks, csnt remember which one exactly.

    My rotations as of now:

    PG - Rose / Iverson / Price
    SG - Martin / McCants
    SF - Smith / McGrady
    PF - Horford / Cousins
    C - Hayes / Jordan

As i said, probably not really realistic at all but looks solid on paper. Not fussed to win first season just wanna compete. Will make some trades later as well.

Played first game away to the Thunder and got the win, Rose got 28 followed by Horford with 16. I'm going to start a blog shortly, so hopefully a few people are interested.

Rashad McCants also went down and is out for month so I'm gonna look at FA and see who i can pick up on the cheap.
Any opinions? Have I made it too unrealistic? To be fair I've lost 4 big players and picked up three. Iverson was a free and maybe unrealistic but he was a FA. McGrady is off contract iRL and could end up in Chicago. Do you think Smith / Horford partnership fit the Bulls?

Kinda reminds of what Miami have got, without the gem of a PG. To be fair while being way past his prime, Bibby is a decorated player.

I was thinking exactly this. LBJ is currently 1st in the race for MVP in my game averaging around 25-7-7 with the Heat 3rd in the East, but Durant is averaging nearly 32 points a game along with 9 rebounds while leading the Thunder to a NBA best 41-13 at the moment. SEVEN more wins than the Heat!

Same thing here... Durant led the league in scoring and nearly avg 10reb per game with 4 or 5 ast per game, and the MVP Race was LeBron, Durant, Wade, Bosh, Dirk??? 3 Heat players in Top 5 for MVP? How is that even possible...

He won the MVP for the 4th straight year last night. He played the Knicks in the first round and put up the most ridiculous stat line in a 5 game series. 38.2ppg/10.4rpg/8.4apg.

Heat won the title over the Kings (Dragic/Evans/Perdue/Sullinger/Cousins) in 6 games. Miami's 2nd championship in this association.

I just won the NBA championship for the first time since owning this game. 2nd year with the Thunder! Beat the heat in game 7 by 10 points.

                PG: Westbrook, Dragic
                SG: Sefolosha, Harden
SF: Durant, Jeff Green, Cartier Martin
PF: Ibaka, Jeff Green, Jason Smith
C: Lamarcus Aldridge, Cole Aldrich, Ryan Hollins

I finally perfected this team through trades and now I have to figure out how I'm going to resign westbrook and keep harden from leaving for Free Agency.

I might just trade harden while I can get something for him because I'm pretty sure he's gonna leave either way.

                  Nice Thunder squad...

I used the Thunder as a blueprint kinda, for when I built my Cavs team...

PG - Kyrie Irving / Chauncey Billups / Jeff Teague
SG - Reggie Bullock / Brandon Rush
SF - Harrison Barnes / Trevor Ariza
PF - JJ Hickson / Brandon Wright
                  C - Greg Oden / Hasheem Thabeet

Just out of curiousity, am I the only one running an association out of a different basketball era? I mean, like I said before (and I may have been incorrect on the years I posted), I'm using a roster set from the 85-86 season (or 84-85, one of those two lol). Is anyone else doing something like me (running an association out of a different era), or is everybody else just using rosters from this year?
James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."

My fault I went MIA on the thread, Ive been busy. But I'm back with my Cavaliers update.

W finished up the 2nd season 38-44, missed the Playoffs. Lebron James won MVP, wow what a huge surprise! Thaddeus Young won 6th Man of The Year, Defensive Player of The Year was Dwight Howard, Pat Patterson was The Most Improved and Tibbs was Coach of The Year. The Chicago Bulls won the championship against the #8 seeded New Orleans Hornets. Derrick Rose being the Finals MVP averaing 28 points and 9 assist. Steve Nash, Kevin Garnett, Derrick Fisher, Jason Kid and Marcus Camby all retired this offseason. Jason Kiid and Kevin Garnet has been inducted in the Hall of Fame.

During the Offseason I felt that we were lacking a main offensive player who can shoulder a load. Yeah JJ Hickson was averaging 17 points a game, but wasn't what I was looking for. So I made this trade.

                      Trailblazers send
Brandon Roy (Unhappy, dude was averaging like 20 min off the bench)
                      Josh Selby
                      2nd Rd Pick
                      for

                      Cavs send:
                      Baron Davis
                      Mike Bibby(picked up from FA)
                      Jordan Hamilton (R)
                      2nd Rd Pick

Then after that trade the CPU offered me a trade of JJ Hickson and a 2nd Rd Pick for Kemba Walker and a 2nd Rd Pick. Kemba was playing behind Devin Harris in Utah, the Jazz needed a post presence since they traded Favors, they moved Jefferson to C. So I took the trade in a heart beat, seeing as I need that I needed a PG who I can control this team for years to come. Selby was good, but inconsistent and cant carry the load I needed. I also traded for an unhappy Dorrel Wright, I can't remember who in God's name I traded for this guy.

                      So my lineup is:
                      Kemba Walker/Daniel Gibson
                      Brandon Roy/Alonzo Gee
Dorrell Wright/(I don't remember who's backing him up)
                      Antwan Jamison/Anthony Davis (R)
                      Deandre Jordan/Andy Varajou

I'm 0-1 in the preseason, I don't want to start the season yet because I have to move my TV downstairs to connect to the internet, to download next years draft class -_____- But what you guys think of the team tho?

So decided to completely turn my Minnesota association into a sim-chise. Gonna try to get through as much as possible before NCAA '12 releases.

                        Recap up to this point

MVP: LeBron James all four seasons

2010-2011 Finals: Lakers over Bulls in 7
2011-2012 Finals: Heat over Lakers in 6 or 7
2012-2013 Finals: Timberwolves over Bulls in 7 (I was Minny)
2013-2014 Finals: Heat over Kings in 6

                        During this past Off-Season

                        - Tim Duncan, Steve Nash, Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, and others retired. Only Duncan made the HOF.

                        - After getting blasted by the Heat in the playoffs, Carmelo ditched CP3/Amare in NY to join the Bobcats. Derrick Favors also signed, giving them a starting lineup of Leonard Sutton (2nd pick of draft)/Harrison Barnes/Melo/Favors/Aaric Murray (2nd round pick in '11)

                        - Evan Turner left Philadelphia to join New Orleans. Philadelphia then acquires Brandon Roy via trade.

                        2014-2015 (Season 5)

                        Top 5 at each Position

PG: Derrick Rose (CHI), Chris Paul (NY), John Wall (WAS), Russell Westbrook (OKC), Rajon Rondo (BOS)

SG:Dwyane Wade (MIA), Tyreke Evans (SAC), Kobe Bryant (LAL), Dillon Winter (PHX), Evan Turner (NO)

Playing as the Bulls right now in my first season.

                            D. Rose is injured , it's been tough trying to win games w/o him.

For the offseason I want to either land D12 or get the adequate shooting guard for Rose, even if that means trading Lu.

I finally perfected this team through trades and now I have to figure out how I'm going to resign westbrook and keep harden from leaving for Free Agency.

I might just trade harden while I can get something for him because I'm pretty sure he's gonna leave either way.
Props for keeping that team together
