Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
15-1 with my Miami Heat now. Haven't made a trade yet but Mario Chalmers is getting increasingly unhappy as I bench him most night, he has only played 35 minutes in 6 games. He has a two star trade value and my thinking is I can always waive Jamal Magloire, sign someone for the mid-level exception for 1 year, then trade Mario plus that mid-level player for a good post defense center, then re-sign Jamal Magloire for the minimum, and if he doesn't want to come back, I'll just sign Erick Dampier. Anyways, onto the games I've played. I endured my first loss today, and of all teams I lose to it was the Grizzlies! Rudy Gay was unstoppable no matter what I did, I tried doubling him and guarding him myself, he was just too explosive and they ran the break far too well. I don't think there was anything I could have done to stop them, my offense was great as I scored over 100, and honestly my defense wasn't that bad, their offense was just much better. Game after that was pretty close too against the Pacers, came down to the wire but Mike Miller hit a 3 with about 23 seconds left to put me up by 4 and it put the nail in the coffin. I then proceeded to blow out the Magic 119-97, then blew out the 76ers 116-94. I really buckled down and played smart basketball, in the loss I had the one thing that I didn't have going is my rebounding. I have cut down my rotation to 10 players, but I'm thinking about benching Arroyo and cutting him out of my rotation and make it a primarily 9-man rotation which would consist of Eddie House, James Jones, Mike Miller, Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem, Zydrunas Illgauskas, and Joel Anthony. I'm also becoming increasingly unsatisfied with the post defense, rebounding, and shot blocking ability of Joel Anthony, that is why I may trade Chalmers and an expiring for a good post-defense center as mentioned above. I could use some thoughts on potential trades if anyone has any, and try to keep it either as realistic or as fair as possible. Thanks guys!
In my heat career I was looking to get rid of kevin martin because I dont like his release. I started off signing AI to the mid level exception, he is a 3* but is probably already signed in yours. I traded him for greg oden and along with that we switched a couple of scrubs. I think it was brad miller for wesley matthews. Miller was my 6th man and a big body to back up yao but oden more than made up for that. Would have rather traded off martin here but they wanted AI so that is who I traded.
I then needed a new replacement for martin so I traded chase budinger and courtney lee for CDR and mbah ah mout or whatever his name is. CDR isn't as good as martin but he is young, a decently tough defender, and a good role player in the 2 spot.
I then needed to get rid of martin so I offered him up and minnesota offered their 1st round pick so I took that.
After 1 game I realized that yao, oden, scola, mbah ah mout, hayes, and hill made for too many post players who would want minutes and mbah ah mout was upset about his role coming off the bench so I traded him and jared jeffries for jj reddick and some worthless young PF. Reddick offers the shooting which CDR lacks and the 2 of them combine to be about as good of a shooting guard as martin was plus now I have the extra 1st round pick.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Started this morning with the Timberwolves - young and challenging (hopefully)
Trades
I didn't feel I could keep both Love and Beasley happy and the roster was short of a quality big man so I initiated the following trade with the Pacers:
Beasley and Ridnour for Roy Hibbert and TJ Ford
To beef up my bench Milicic and my '12 2nd round went to the Cavs for J.J Hickson. I also picked up Szcerbiak (to give me a 3pt option) and Dampier from the FA.
Starting 5
PG Jonny Flynn
SG Corey Brewer
SF Wesley Johnson
PF Kevin Love
C Roy Hibbert
6 T.J.Ford
7 J.J Hickson
8 Wayne Ellington
Currently 2-0 thanks mainly to Love and Flynn with quality blocking and rebounding from Hibbert - the guy is a tank! Heat next...not at all optimistic. Brewer is a bit of a liability.
I don't really want to wait until the end of the season to draft or pickup a free SG so any thoughts on a trade to ditch Brewer for a decent SG with more of a defensive presence I'm open to suggestions!Comment

I'm 13-2 with the Knicks and couldn't handcuff the Grizzlies either, Mayo was a machine, lost by 10.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
(I'm running a Kings Association, and I traded for Jason Terry from the Mavs - he's fit in great and takes some of the scoring burden from Tyreke. They're a great 1-2 punch).
I definitely prefer run & gun. I turn up my Fast Break and Offensive Tempo bars all the way and take off each possession. If I don't have numbers or an advantage, I back it out and run a play.
My usual plays are Tyreke in the post, or Terry running from the baseline out to the wing to pop out for a clear jumper. Also I like to ISO Tyreke, and let him take his guy one-on-one or bring over Dalember or Landry to set a screen and roll to the hoop. Caspi also camps at the 3pt line when the double starts to come to Tyreke.
So far so good!

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Yea, well I did it yesterday and there was no excitement knowing I used the trade override, I actually did the trade before the season. I'm gonna go in another direction, probably make a move for Danny Granger. I was thinking OJ Mayo and develop him into an All-Star because he's subpar IMO, but I'm considering trading for Monta Ellis, to have a small back court, that'll be fun because Ellis can play off ball like he did when Baron Davis was in the back court with him.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
In my wolves association i use Brewer as a SF and use him mostly as a defender toward the opposing teams star player and he usually does the job for me. I bring Wes off the bench. My rotation is.
Johnny Flynn
Michael Redd
Corey Brewer
Kevin Love
Joakim Noah
and my bench is: Kirk Hinrich,Martell Webster,Wesley Johnson,Jordan Hill,Hilton armstrong and kosta koufas. I just made the trade to aquire Kirk, Hill and Hilt so i have yet to play a game with them in the lineup but i am on a 3 game losing streak. not sure if this question was asked before but is there a way to offer contract extensions during the season? or do you just have to wait untill your season is complete?"Champions aren't made in the gyms. Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Hmm, I would try to get Chalmers a little happier and then trade him. I think he's a 73 rating? Anyways, if you're happy with your 10 man rotation, obviously if you're 15-1 it's working for you, then try to get a bad team's draft pick(s) for him.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Well, after a while I finally decided to roll with Suns (29 games, no simming, 7-7-7-7 play-offs.)
Right now I'm 3-3, won against Bulls and Portland on the road, but lost to golden state at home. Suns heavily relies on jump shooting, so this team can get very streaky. In a good day, I cause problems against the best, but I think I'll struggle against weaker teams. Right now my goal is to make play-offs, or at least manage a .500 record. Using a created draft class, downloaded from 2k share. Rating were a little bit inflated so I did drop everyones overall by 2.
After last Golden State game, I decided to trade away Frye (he was driving me crazy, literally) and Childress (since I got 4 guys at SF position). I did trade em (and 2012 first round pick) with Denver, got Nene and Afflalo and 2011 first round pick in return. This gives me a flexibility in cap space with 2 1-year contracts, some presence in the post (yeah!) and a good defensive minded guard. Now I'm just hoping to atleast get 18-22nd pick from Denver.
Hedo played great for the first five games(starting pf), scoring over 20's. Against golden state, he got into early foul trouble, played only 17 minutes and shot 0-6 from the field, also added 4 turnovers. Now he's injured for 2 weeks.
Nash has been pretty inconsistent so far, Also I think I don't use him well enough, hoping to use him more effectively in the near future (averaging 15ppg, 6 apg, 3rpg, 2,5spg and 2,5to).
Jason Richardson has been inconsistent as well, dude sometimes drops 10-12 points in a quarter, then gets lost for the rest of the game.
Warrick has been a pleasant surprise, I think he fits this team really well. So far averaging 10.5 ppg 4.5rpg in 20 minutes. But he is a liability on the defensive end, as he lacks size and has no defensive presence.
I think with Nene-Childress trade, team looks more balanced in overall. In long term, I might turn Suns into a defensive minded team. Slow tempo, low scoring and grinding out wins sounds like a winning formula. It actually depends on the free agents and trades that come up.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Yea OJ is a bust IMO, I thought he was going to be the next KB24, I was thinking about Ellis bcuz the Bulls went small with Hinrixh and Gordon and had some what of a little success. But Mayo is still one of my options. I'm thinking also about a Rose, Granger, Lee or Aldridge, Noah nucleus.Currently playing:
NBA 2K11; Association (Bulls)
NBA:Chicago Bulls
NFL:Dallas Cowboys
MLB:New York Mets
NCAA:UconnComment
