So how are you guys playing this game? Do you sim any games? How many minute quaters are you playing?

I ask this because this is my first basketball game and I wanna play it like I have been playing baseball and hockey. I play one game a week out of the schedule so I can fight for playoff spots and do multiple seasons and do the off season moves. Sometimes I do wish I could play every game because I do feel simming takes a little bit away from the game but I always would just play the 1 season then be done with it. Get board quickly, so lately I have been trying the simming style of play. Curious on how you guys play.

Yeah, better than nothing.

I'm in Season 3 with the Mavs. First Season i was beat in the 2nd Round by the Spurs. (Champ Heat)
After that contracts for Butler/Chandler/Barea ended. In the next Season I traded Terry for the 1st Round pick of GSW and traded the 38yr Kidd and Haywood for expiring contracts. I didn't made it to the playoffs without JKidd/Caron/Haywood.
Now I had the 8th and 10th Pick + Capspace. I drafted a nice Center with (72 OVR) and a SF (75 OVR) and in Free Agency I got the Jackpot ...CP3!

Now i run with
CP3 - PG
RoddyB - SG
Marion - SF
Dirk - PF
Rookie - C

Just started as Golden State because Curry is probably my favorite player in this game. Used trade finder because I hate Biedrins and the Wolves offered Michael Beasley and Ellington for Biedrins and Udoh. Really considering that one cause Beasley is a best in this game but I might play a game or two before I pull the trigger.

The Magic just offered me Vince Carter for Monta Ellis and Ekpe Udoh. Fail.

so you got offered a trade in your Association? I thought folks were saying they weren't getting offers...?

Yep I simmed up to my first game day and on that day they offered me that trade on a pop up screen. Didn't know people were having problems with trade offers.

No you got some misinformation there. Trade offers from AI to you are still there. It's just that in some years the AI teams don't trade between themselves and they don't sign FAs DURING the season. Why bother when you have rookies coming in at 70+ even though they were late first round picks.
Also a few years in there is no shortage of quality players so most of the off-season activity is FA signing phase.

Started an all-30 teams Association last night:

Primarily running as the Mavs for at least yr1. Played games 1 and 2. Game 1 Charlotte blew me out by 20 at home....uh oh.... . Marion goes down, out 2-4, and Kidd suffers a DTD ankle sprain. Lost 94-74.

2nd game Memphis visits, and OJ Mayo got hot in the 2nd half dropping 20 as the Grizz beat me by 13. Lost 116-103. Dirk dropped 46 and 12 though, and Terry started stroking 3's but it wasn't enough. Injury bug bit again...Haywood 2-4 but playable with an ankle, and DeShawn Stevenson injured his foot, he's out 2-4.

Already needing depth at G/F with Stevenson and Marion out, I signd Larry Hughes to a $3.00 1 yr MLE.

Needless to say, with 2 games played and 2 losses, I've dropped DIFF to PRO-Sim (from all-star).

hmm i might just wait till like december to start my association im going to see if a patch or anything comes out, im going to wait cause i know a couple of big nba trades are going to happen so im going to be practicing with the team im taking to association which i still dont know who im picking

Association mode is SICK! I have loved it so far. I am in my third season. I did a draft from the get go and played with the bulls. Picked up D. Rose in the first round and Kevin Martin. After 1 and a half years with Rose-Martin running the show, I traded Martin and picked up Josh Smith since I didn't have any quality bigs. Third year starts and my roster is looking good with exception to the SG spot. Checked free agency to pick someone up. I didn't have much cap space so I resorted to checking out the D-League. Evan Turner who was rate. My team was now the power house in the NBA and I swept the other team in the Championship. Now starting my 4th season. Signed Turner, Rose, and Josh Smith to new contracts. Childress who has a nice nice mid range game signed a minimum contract with me to stay on the team. I am not sure if that is what he would have asked for but I am pretty sure he was getting paid much more than that. To sum that up. I have my 3 stars and still have my starting 5.

First off I added all the classic teams to replace their present teams except I only put the 95-96 Bulls. I started my association with the Seattle SuperSonics (58 game season, 7minute quarters). I played my first 2 games beat the Hawks in a close one, I did pretty well with Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp, Sam Perkins is money from the 3. After those two games I traded Detlef Shremp to Chicago for Ron Harper, Toni Kukoc, and a 1st rounder. In my next game Shawn Kemp got injured with a lower back strain for a month. Kukoc has been doing great with me I scored 20 and 8 with him last game. I signed Dampier, Damon Jones, Tim Thomas and Marke Madsen and got Jodie Meeks in a trade. So my roster looks like this...

Started my pre-patch test association tonight.

Using the Wizards here were my first moves:

Traded Gilbert and a 2nd round pick to the Hornets for a 1st round pick, Okafor, and a 69 ovr SG who I cannot remember because I only added him to make it work under the cap. I'll probably try to trade him for a 2nd rounder if possible.

Signed AI to start at the 2. I am happy with my squad for now:
PG John Wall
SG Allen Iverson
SF Josh Howard
PF Andray Blatche
C Emeka Okafor

I was going to trade Howard before I realized he was a decent defender and in the first game he did well, chipping in 16 points with a FG% over 50.

I really like this squad. What surprises me is that it is a solid defensive club. Okafor patrols the paint and I have solid perimeter defenders. I actually think Wall is a little overrated in that aspect but I'll take it. I plan to have Wall defend the SGs in order to protect AI. Wall completely shut down Vince Carter in my first game and Nelson was frustrated by Iverson all game.

I just wish Iverson would hit the open J's on a consistent basis! I realize he is more of a driver, but when Wall penetrates AI gets plenty of open looks. I would give Young more minutes but he tends to get raped on defense.

I kinda think I took advantage of NO with my trade, but I'll get over my guilt.

My friend just brought over the ps3 version and I simmed to the All-Star break and the transaction monitor had many transactions (trades, firings, fa pick ups) and I received many trade offers as well.

Is this only the 360 version or what b/c I'm not seeing the issue.

Sorry forgot to mention year 1 looks fine. Year 2 is usually when things go south. However that's not a hard and fast rule but usually it is the case.

3-1 start with the Grizzlies. Started with a 2 point loss to the Hawks who are now 3-0. I beat the mavs and won a simulated game against the Timberwolves. I got lucky and got to play the Lakers with Kobe out with an injury and man their team is bad without him.

I really like my team without any moves, which is good because I already have the one star trade value glitch. OJ is a great shooter, Rudy is good all around, Randolph is really good in the post and rebounding, Gasol is a beast at snagging rebounds, Thabeet blocks everything in sight when he is in, and Xaveir Henry is a good scoring 6th man. Hopefully my player's trade values go back up in the offseason so I can get some picks and get more young talent.
