Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Season1 [as] Mavs (All-30 Teams) Association:<o></o>
<o></o>
With the Hornets struggling in my association, and also losing Emeka Okafor early on to a broken foot for 8 weeks...Made a 3-team deal to try and salvage the Hornets season, and also help out a couple of other teams in the process; who either needed to clear cap space or add a piece to the puzzle.
Hornets are 5-15 and in the cellar in the west through the 1st week of December. They are really down, but not out and have recently lost a string of close games; mainly due to trotting out Aaron Gray out at the starting 5, and dealing w/ injuries and a lack of depth in the frontcourt.
Pistons have started 6-15 and lack a great deal of chemistry. They've got some young guys who need minutes, but some vets w/ big contracts that are blocking their way.
The Bobcats are 12-9 and playing great D, but are lacking scoring as they sit 3rd worst in the league in PPG. Their defense has propeled them so far, but adding some offensive punch will greatly help them move from 8th in the east (and one in done in the 1st round) to a possible 2nd rd playoff push.
THE DEAL:
Hornets Get: Ben Wallace (DET), Charlie Villanueva (DET), and Jason Maxiell (DET).
Pistons Get: Peja (NO), Jason Smith (NO), 2011 1st & 2nd Rd picks (NO), SG Gerald Henderson (CHA), PF/C Kwame Brown (CHA), and a 2011 2nd Rd pick from Charlotte.
Bobcats Get: Rodney Stuckey.
Hornets get Big Ben who can start at center till Okafor comes back, and add two big men that are MUCH needed since the Hornets lack frontcourt depth.
Pistons get a $13 mil expiring contract in Peja, another deal that expires w/ Jason Smith ($2+ mil), two 2nd rd picks, & a 1st Rd Nawlins pick (which could still be a lotto pick if this deal doesn't work out for Nawlins).
Coming from Charlotte, Detroit gets SG Gerald Henderson who seems to fit better on a Detroit team that isn't going anywhere, and backup Kwame Brown reunites with Detroit.
Altogether Detroit will have $29 mil in cap space to use in the offseason. Do they go after Melo? The guy they should've drafted over Darko? Who knows. But now they have the cap room to do so. They will also be able to get solid minutes for rookie Center Gregg Monroe, and youngsters Austin Daye, DeJuan Summers, and Will Bynum. Jonas Jerebko is out for another couple of weeks with an injury, but he will continue to see consistent minutes too.
As for Charlotte, they get Rodney Stucky for next to nothing. The Pistons couldn't leverage anymore because teams know that they didn't want to re-sign Stuckey longterm. So Detroit cuts their losses, and moves Stuckey for Henderson and Brown and a CHA 2nd rounder.
Now Charlotte will have to decide if THEY want to sign Stuckey for big money longterm. Stuckey is averaging 18.5 ppg while shooting 44% from the field, but DJ Augustin has been playing solid ball too. Bobcats coach Larry Brown has stated that "Rodney will come off the bench to start, but will still see at least 30 minutes a night". Shaun Livingston has really struggled, and he would be no threat to steal any minutes away from Stuckey. Charlotte will be running w/ a 9-man rotation with Tyrus Thomas, Stuckey, Diop, and Najera getting all the backup minutes.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
I think your trades are very realistic and possible if it for your inclusion of Maxiell. You are taking their their three top big men(yes i know they have Monroe), just for cap relief. Even though their season is on a freefall I don't think they would trade Maxiel, b/c he is a decent 4 and he is pretty cheap starter. Replacing Maxiell with Wilcox in the trade would be more realistic. By the way that Stuckey trade i could really see happening.
And the guys with Hornets whose lineup is Paul, Ariza, Melo, Anthony..etc...You wanted thoughts? Okay, your team is would never realistically exist. Oh and even with your team how it is, you still aren't beating LA(whose stopping Gasol and Bynum), Portland(very underrated team), Utah(D. Will wil go off and you lack size for rebounding and keeping Jefferson and Milsalip(even though he's 6'7, he's a beast) out of the paint), MIA(enough said) or Orlando(you lack kryptonite).Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Sorry dude, this deal would never happen in real life. For one, the Pistons would never take Kwame Brown back. There's a reason they let him leave as a free agent, and he is not welcome anymore. Two, you are trading their top three big men away. Greg Monroe is not ready to be a starter yet, and the only reason Ben Wallace is still playing basketball is because he loves the city of Detroit. Wallace is not going anywhere else.Comment

I totally disagree with you, in real life the Pistons would love to trade Maxiel. Have you noticed how little he is playing this year? He is only getting 18 minutes per game and is playing less each game. Monroe and Daye are eating his minutes up and it will only get worse for Jason.Hence the reason for the deal, plus the actualy 6-15 record of the Pistons of my association.

To my knowledge Brown never left on bad terms in Detroit, and he's an expiring deal.
Plus the record is 6-15 and the Southeast division in the east are teams all above .500%. So might as well fork over this season, and get minutes for Monroe to develop him.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Hey thanks...I respect those who opinions come w/ some sort of insight rather than just "its not realistic" and that's it. Maxiell had years on his contract, and Daye -- whose starting at PF IRL -- is cheaper than Maxiell.
So I felt moving Maxiell would grow the cap relief for Detroit.
Hence the reason for the deal, plus the actualy 6-15 record of the Pistons of my association.
They took him back to pad depth on the frontcourt after trading away Wallace, Maxiel, and Charlie V, and ALSO because Kwame has an expiring deal. Its not a move to build a team, but to build more cap relief for DET and not have to pay Stuckey like they're already paying Ben Gordon.
To my knowledge Brown never left on bad terms in Detroit, and he's an expiring deal.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
I just started my GS association again and wanted to make as few moves as possible to start. I made one which I thought was a minor trade and I sent R. Williams, B. Wright and a 1st to Portland for Batum and W. Matthews(I hate his ugly contract). I just wanted a more athletic wing who could run the floor.
My lineup is this
Curry/Bell
Ellis/Matthews
Batum/Wright/Carney
Lee/Udoh/Amundson/Radmonovic
Biedrins
D-League is storing Lin till Bell annoys me enough to dump. I'm asian so Lin will eventually make my rotation lol.
This team started fast winning 5 in a row beat the Lakers in the third game. Then I ran into the freight train known as the Pistons....yeah Lee went down with a lower back strain in that game and Ellis and Batum just were completly off. Lost that game by 1 when Curry missed a last second shot.
Right now were sitting at 7-2 after I just lost to Chicago by 5...I hate you Luol Deng!
Overall I get what you would expect from Ellis and Curry. Lee was a 19-10 guy before the injury. Batum has been suprising offensivly avg. 15 up to 19 since Lees injury. I lack great front court depth but Biedrins has given me exactly what I want 3pts 12rbds and 3 blks. I was thinking of trying to go after a guy like Taj Gibson but I don't really have anybody I'm disgusted with and wanna move.Comment
