Re: It would be a total Buzz kill if Association mode is as broken...
I used a number of different created draft classes last year and had created players progress. Not as rapidly as 2K created but they progressed nonetheless. Perhaps this created draft class bug from last year was an isolated incident.
I wish someone could sim a few seasons with created drafts and report back.
I'm willing to bet that created drafts with more appropriately rated players will solve both issues of CPU controlled teams not signing FA and CPU controlled teams not seeking out trades to better their teams.
Obviously there is no need to make a trade if you just drafted to two highly rated role players or sixth men.PS4 - CoastalRyan

Wow, you guys put in work while I was sleeping, good job.
I really wish there was a way to bring this to 2K's attention. Iv'e tried posting it on the 2K boards but if you post a topic there that's not stupid or about online, it gets buried on the later pages.
The crazy HCA, trades and FA signings are killing this for me. I thought I could hold of till a patch, but I just can't. Association mode is everything to me and if it doesn't work properly, huge game kill for meComment

Re: It would be a total Buzz kill if Association mode is as broken...
This has all been mentioned in the glitches thread. OS seems to have a good relationship with the devs to the point the devs pay attention to those glitches threads.
I'd like to have some input from devs on this because there's a key point at issue.
We know the 2k team spent a lot of time on this game. Did they, for example, examine sim mode and it looked good for the time they could dedicate to examining it? Or, was it the best balance they could create after tweaking all the elements?
For the touches ratings, is it a mistake/oversight or was it the only way to ensure big men would get touches during play and that superstars would have big games? Maybe the devs would say "Yeah, we knew about this, but when you lower the touches for big men and raise them for PGs, the PGs take too many shots. People used to complain about that. So we bumped up the touches for big men and superstars so there would be post play and superstars having big scoring games."
In other words was all this explored by the dev team and what's now in the game the best balance they could find after a lot of hours? Or was it just oversight because of not having the hours to look at it that all the gamers have collectively now that the game is released?
As for the trades and FA signings, even before 2k might address generated draft classes or draft classes are posted, you just have to edit the draft class to ensure there aren't many guys above the mid 70's. For now I suggest editing anyone over 70 to bring them to 70 or below, and leave one or two guys in the high 70's or low 80's.
Keep in mind Jordan, in the create a legend, starts as a high potential overall 79. If the greatest player of all time, or arguably the greatest of all time, starts at 79 then no other rookie should start higher, and very few would start at 79.
BTW, this thread has a patron, Buzz Killington from Family Guy:

Yes I have seen players on my team be upset about playing time when they are injured but still able to play. Ex: Chris Pual sprained MCL for 1-2 weeks. he could still play but I didnt want to play him in case he got hurt more. After 1 week with no playing time he was -1 and on his card it said "give him more playing time"Comment

A potential "fix" for all of the Nash trades.
Nash's role is just Starter out of the box. Perhaps moving him to the IMO deserved Star role would "fix" this?Comment

Re: It would be a total Buzz kill if Association mode is as broken...
There may be some issues with association, but I can not stress how grateful I am to 2K for allowing us to edit things like draft classes and players ratings during the season. That option should be available in every franchise mode, (I am looking at you, MADDEN) it allows us to fix certains problems and not have to wait on the company to release a patch.
I do not condone these mistakes, I just like the ability to fix some things on my own.Comment

Guys since now you've talked about rookies potential.
But what about palyers potential???

Jamison 88???
Maggette 82???
Pierce 95?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?
R.Allen 95?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!
J.O'Neal 94?!?!?!?!?!
Don't you think that with potential so high these players continue to improve instead of decrease????Boots..........To ASSES!!!!!!Comment

To my knowledge, players stop progression between 26 and 28 (not sure what age but the POT grade disappear around that age)
After that, POT will just be use as one of the many recipes to make up a player's value..
Not sure if it affects their regression (I.E. 90 POT player wont decrease alot) but i wont be surprise if it does being that it still affects a players value...Last edited by Jukeman; 10-07-2010, 11:18 AM.Comment

Re: It would be a total Buzz kill if Association mode is as broken...
potential is hard coded.
give tyreke evans,d.rose, rondo, durant, steph curry k.love a F potential ('round 50) and you can simulate a season with team chemistry and roles off or on and they will still progress the same.
so essentially no matter if they are 'happy' or 'sad' the prospects will still progress the same from year to year. (some more then others particulary the big names young prospects) -which could be 'toned down' by 2k?
try it and see, also i found some other things that 'bugs' me about assoc. tommorrow tho.
p.s does anybody kno if potential just your "trade number"?
i'm not sure if draft class/created players will have it as easy progressing thru the years as say a john wall.
b'c 2k created john wall and they have coded how he will progress minus your 'coaching drills'
ONE MORE THING: the coaches getting fired to much has to stop or slow down some, one year i had 3 coaches who just got HIRED IRL get fired same year. im not sure but i think team chemistry off will reduce coach firings, which means maybe the rate at which your team 'bonds' can be toned down by a patch.
If its like last year,
a great player with little POT (Arenas) will still progress (10 points in his career)
If he had the same production with a higher POT, he would jump 15 pts (even 20 IIRC)Comment

Re: It would be a total Buzz kill if Association mode is as broken...
Not sure about that but I think they don't use the same trade logic. Because people have said they got traded for guys with huge contracts, deals that can't happen under the cap rules.Get that weak stuff outta here!Comment

Re: It would be a total Buzz kill if Association mode is as broken...
Meh, I could see how this would really piss off some fans and be a deal breaker. But I assume a patch or two could fix most of these issues.
For me personally, I don't really care since I enjoy being a God-like figure in Association. I take control of all of the teams and make most of the major trades and signings myself. I try to balance it out to where every team gets attention realistically.
I also edit most of the first round prospects and have some really strong classes and some really weak classes.
Since I like doing this, and I usually turn off morale/roles, this won't be a deal breaker for me.
And yes, I am a 99% offline player.Comment
