Re: Rant: Helping you out of necessity and insipid rage

Fight-Any ideas of how to beat a 1-3-1 zone online? I'll take any advice u can give. I only use the Sixers. I primarily run plays and I have the hardest time moving the ball around when teams go to it. They will ususally take the middle man in that 3 portion of the zone and play roamer. I'm having a tough time against it. Anyone???

Post up with Elton Brand since the low post area is usually open.

^ Be careful with the entry pass though.

Also try backdoor cuts and baseline shots. I would suggest the corner 3 but I hear that 3's are tough to come by in online.

But yeah, my guess is rape them with backdoor cuts.

Flight, mad props for the post (though long winded) and for all the tips you've given people (though I don't need them) and I agree with 95% of your post.

The sliders thing is personal and I have no quarrel with slider guys. Heck, at least they see the issue and are using the provided tools to correct it. SO I feel you might want to leave that be. They aren't looking for 2K to makes changes for a singular personal preference and that's all you can ask for. Many post to "prove" their view is valid and they want 2K to address it for them (I'm not talking about KNOWN TECHNICAL ISSUES LIKE the Association practice bug and My Player freezing - for the millionth time) via a patch that will affect a million people when they can adjust adjust the game to their liking.

So true - I agree with you that the game requires more NBA gamestyle than ever before and that's awesome but leave the slider gurus alone. They're good people.

Dipset, good looks, even though my name is the fight, not flight.

CX1379, explained the same thing to me and I see what you and him are talking about. There are in fact people who change the sliders to make the game more realistic. I admitted that a few pages ago. My thing is, there are people who adjust the sliders looking for an edge too. It bothered me to see people take shortcuts in the game (especially when I continue to kick my a*# in learning new things and refining my game online and off).

I'm debating on adding the next ten tips that I mentioned earlier in the tread to the beginning of his thread or making a new one altogether because of all the back and forth that I've had with some people.

All in all, good looks for providing a level headed opinion in this thread. We (I really mean, I) needed it.

            Stay up.

Alright people, I'm going to go back through the thread from the most recent to try to respond to everyone who addressed me, bare with me.

By the way, to the person who asked about Mike Miller, He's hurt right now, Send me a reminder PM when he comes back and I'll go through it again.

Thanks GG and crossover. I will try your suggestions. I do try to establish the post game but I suffer a lot of TO's on that entry pass as you said. I have a hard time creating space for passes on the floor when they go to that. Hitting 3's with the Sixers is pretty tough unless the player I'm using is Kapono--Flipside for that is he is a complete liability on defense. Still learning all the different passing options..If u guys think of anything else (specific plays, etc.) I should do don't hesitate to post..

What's good my Ninja (sorry, I had to...)

Alright, lets get something out of the way first. I LOVE 1-3-1. I play against my VIP on purpose to try to find new weaknesses in it. If you were to look at my VIP preferences, you will see that I run 1-3-1 just about as often (if not more, depends on the opponent) as Man.

Now, to get to what some people said already. The low post is a HORRIBLE place to straight attack that zone. It's a trap. The D itself is a trap that forces the D to have a roaming 5 and if the person online is smart/cheesy he would roam the 4 too. The problem with trying to establish low position with Brand is 2-fold:

                  1) the zone constricts when the ball enters the low block. Basically that means that's help defense coming from your immediate line of sight and the left or right (depends on the block you're on).

                  2) The person is roaming the 4, meaning that they are more than likely hawking the passing lanes but that also means....

Elton Brand gets to work on the Hi Post unimpeded by the person best suited to guard him *he has that foul line jumper* so get him there.

Understand what the D is giving you, a modified diamond and 1/ Box and 1 when the 4 is roaming. The weaknesses for the zone looks like a 5 in dice or domino (basically a 2-1-2). You attack this with the left bumper/L1, select Elton Brand *and then eventually, Evan Almighty* and use the right stick/R3 *no click obviously* to make him cut UP/diagonally to the foul line. You need to establish him as a threat. Now see what they give you. The switch off to a smaller guy from the sides means that you have a good look at a possibly contested shot or that the area the help came from is prime and juicy for an icon lead pass to that section (akin to that example that I spoke about with Oden and Batum earlier). No switch? Take the jumper. In the event of a decent switch, DONT dribble with Brand, that's a turnover waiting to happen. Use the ball fake and look to get Williams back the ball in the spot between the defensive 1 and 3. Remember, it's a trap on the perimeter. By this time, Brand is still high and Williams (or Holiday) is near him but the shot clock should be close to 7 or 8. Use the give and go with Brand and Holiday/ Williams to get a decent look. By using the g-n-g, you force the D to make a decision to respect Brand's jumper or guard the lane for the slashing player (and if you hit that driving player, mess up their day really bad by getting Kapono in the game and making it a drive and kick situation). The reprecussions of this pays off because its attacking the D where it immediate became weak (with the 4's deserting his post) and that will eventually make those baseline jumper easier because it's a longer way to run to go defend that.

1-3-1's greatest strength (it's the most aggressive, non-pressure D in the game) is also it's greatest weakness (Over aggression will bury you). A patient O will carve this up, people who try to just force it in will find it difficult to get passed 3 people.

Let me know if you need more help. There are plays in your playbook (and about 2 that I know of that have to be assigned manually).

Ill get to your comment GG, but please people please pay attention at the top. That says OT. Those were the teams stats for the two OT's. I tried chucking 3's when I was down by 9 with 1:10 to go in the second OT's out of anger.

I know that. What I criticized was the 60%+ and pip for the entire game. And I did admonish him for mentioning the 3pt % of off 1 attempt. I knew that was only the total for the OT. Stats can tell a story. I know you were behind in OT so started letting fly with the 3. The stats tell me as much.

That's ridiculous at least to me lol. So i started to use Nogsters rosters with his fixed gameplans and the game is even more realistic to me.

Do I think people go overboard sometimes with gripes over gameplay? Sure but I wouldn't want to have it any other way. If it wasn't for the gaming community putting there thoughts forward and asking for more from the developer we wouldn't have such a great product.

I'm glad that there are so many like minded people on here looking for the ultimate experience. Be thankful we have sliders and updates. The testers don't catch everything nor do the programmers.

I used to spend hours doing my own roster updates waaay back on my Sega Genesis. Now I got people who are even more detailed oriented than me. I don't cheat the game I use sliders to make the game as realistic as possible to me in a shortened game. It will never be perfect I have to sacrifice things like shooting percentages but I can live with that. So my team put's up realistic numbers in every other part of the game.
Lmao at Andrea becoming a volume shooter.

You have a lot of good points. Especially considering that 2K listens and pays attention to what the fans want. The problem I had/have is still the people that don't quite get that the game plays to your weaknesses. Bad fundamental concepts on D will lead you to give up 110+ points. I'm beginning to think that A LOT of the blow back that I have received about this topic is from people's egos and how people perceived who I was (before reading/not caring about what else I had to say).

We make disagree about the big stuff, but don't think that I think that your opinion is invalid. Good stuff.

Gears of War went through like 6 title updates from nerfing the chainsaw, shotgun, and smoke grenades. I HATED some of those updates but I adjusted and still kick *** in that game!

There should be awards for posts like your's.

My 360 broke a couple months ago, and I haven't gotten a new one yet. But it sounds like 2k11 is truly a great chess match. When I do get a new console, I'm definitely going to pick it up. My question for you:

How is the end of game AI? Fouling, desperate shots, intensity, just to name a couple aspects. I have not seen it addressed anywhere (that's not to say that it hasn't been, I may have missed it), but it seems that historically this has been an area of weakness in sports games (Madden, even the Show it seems can't get bullpen usage right).
